    36” x 96” Trestle Table
I’ve been thinking about this project for a long time so it was really nice to see it come together. The table is made with a combination of quarter sawn and rift sawn White Oak. The Legs are attached to the feet of the table with a through mortise and tenon joinery and pegged with half inch oak dowels. The trestle is attached to the legs with a massive lap joint and reinforced with a 5 inch lag bolt.
The braces that support the tabletop are attached to the trestle with lap joints and reinforced with 4 inch lag bolts.
The combination of joinery and solid 8/4 white oak make the base of this table incredibly strong.
The tabletop is attached to the base with handmade wooden buttons that will allow the top to expand and contract with the seasons.
I hope you enjoy this project video and if you do build the table please share it on your social media and tag me. I'd love to see what you made.
    Be good, Jon

It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

You ought to be very pleased with yourself. The content and narrative you provide IS the best woodworking videos I've watched on RUclips. Period. It's always a pleasure to see your designs and watch as you meticulously build and create them. Your talent and professionalism is top shelf every time and I look forward to viewing each of your videos, from the small to the large. Thanks for sharing the things you do.

Love the belt and suspenders approach. Modern day furniture undergoes a lot of stress and abuse, but this beautifully designed piece will definitely be a family heirloom for generations to come. Wonderful piece, Jon!

Nicely done Jon. In 1960 my father had a trestle table custom built for the family dining room. It is in my dining room today and is one of my prized possessions. I have been planning to duplicate it in the near future for my daughter’s family. So, thanks for your very helpful presentation.

Jon, I always learn something useful from your videos. This one is no exception. I would never have thought of ripping the beam and then glueing it back together to solve the problem. I would like plans to build a much smaller kitchen table. Say, 30" x 58", less beefy, maybe mostly 1" stock.

Great looking table, Jon~!! For the tabletop, did you to & fro at all between dominos or biscuits, or were joints with floating tenons the clear choice on this project? Understanding that there are multiple ways to go about it, I'm interested in your decision/thought process. Thanks much~!

Such a beautiful piece. Excuse me if this is a silly question. Still building my joinery knowledge. I’ve heard that large tenons, like the ones you have on these legs, can have large amounts of movement. Is this true? Is the QS oak a way to prevent such movement because it is more a more stable material?
