Ngl, it'd be pretty dope to see something like a fan comic where there's your typical shy japanese high-school student with black hair in braids, and then suddenly finds a bunny mask, which changes her hair to white & blue and lets her become Usada Pekora, causing chaos and destruction in her path with a mischievous laugh all the way while hopping like a rabbit to superhuman heights, all while chanting PEKO PEKO.

Fun fact: The comic that this movie was based on was actually a lot darker. In the comics, Stanley puts on the mask, but instead of becoming a superhero like in the movie, he becomes a straight up serial killer, even going so far as to killing his old kindergarten teacher that used to pick on him, right in front of the class!

That Peko chose THIS movie says a lot, because I certainly see a lot of the Mask in Pekora. In her RL she's shy, soft spoken and stay cooped up at home with a doting mother. The moment she dons the mask of Pekora though, she becomes this amazing incarnation of chaos and fun that will put a smile on the face of even the dourest of cops.

It’s all thanks to the artifact, The Mask is imbued with the powers of Loki the God of Mischief (movie canon excluding the sequel of course), Loki was known for being a shapeshifter, a reality warper and loved to cause a lot of turmoil with his abilities.
In first movie it’s implied that Odin banished him into the mask as punishment, the comics is pretty much different since the abilities are derived from voodoo. Honestly the film’s explanation is more believable than voodoo cause voodoo wouldn’t give you the abilities of cartoon logic and such.
Oh I forgot to mention that there’s a deleted scene that is shown in the DVD and comic adaptation, the scene in question is that the Viking, Leif Erikson and a crew of men come to a island (which would be Edge City centuries later) and bury the mask and a witch places a spell of sorts for whoever finds this artifact. It was the original opening for the film was cut for time.

Thank you for translating this, you made my evening--an exceedingly lovely respite amidst a maelstrom of studying for midterms. I feel like a lot of the time , translators are reluctant to work on longer projects like this because of diminishing returns in proportion to the work you put in. Not only did you translate, you went the extra mile with your edits as well. I hope that you can take pride in the sustained joy you have provided through the sharing and democratization of HL's talents with English speakers like me. Know that your work on this colossal video is appreciated : ) arigathankS~
