Not everyone has the space for that type of lifter. It sticks out a couple feet. Also, some lifters retain the cover when open so high above the hot tub that it blocks your view. Who wants that?
I have this cover caddy too. Due to my hot tub's placement I wanted a lifter to open right to left when standing at control panel rather than opening up and away from the control as is more typical. My steps are on the side to the right of the control panel rather than the same side. This allows me to come out the door from my family room directly to the steps and open the cover, enter the tub, push the cover onto the lifter and tilt back. Pretty much the same when getting out though I usually only close it halfway before stepping out and closing it from the side. Particularly handy in winter when I'm outside in the snow wearing only my swim trunks.
Thank you so much for your channel. I am getting a spa in a week or so and have found your channel very helpful. Once again thank you. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks for commenting! I answered your question in a new video I just shot, so look for that video to come out the week of 10/24/22! Thanks for being here! - Jeff
You didn't mention covers getting saturated and so heavy they destroy the lifter. Covers are now $800. No matter the care of rhe vinyl, ours is under roof, the saturation prevents easy access. I just ordered a new cover and don't want to do that again for a long time. Any ideas how to prevent saturation?

@@HotTubOwnerHQ Why do you never answer the question but instead promise to in some future video. Actually we know why you do that and it’s pretty lame. Would be better to be helpful and answer the question (but you just want page views instead). Lame AF
We had the same issue. So I just reinstalled the lift on the other side of spa. Note the view is clear and the cover still easy for my wife to open by herself

Better put some type of padding on the end where it hits your cover (top part). Can already see your going to puncture your cover.

Has it held up well?
We got rid of our cover lifter because our spa is installed in our finished basement and it was blocking the view of the TV and the windows.
