  • It’s true. I love Seattle. However
Before I get into what it is about Seattle that I don’t like (have live in Seattle since 1980), I first talk about why anout why so many RUclipsrs are quitting.

Actually, Sodo stands for "South of Dome", which refers to the old King Dome.

Clearly you don’t care about the homeless. If you were you’d be part of our church’s homelessness task force and helping in the efforts to bring comfort for those displaced by high housing costs. But you’re not. Clearly, you do NOTHING for your local community and nothing for society at large. Typical.

You all make it sound like it’s 1940s Warsaw! Yes, we’ve seen better days but I’m going to go out on a limb and say the same could be said about most American cities at this time. Some eras, the trend is to flock to the cities. Others, they flee. I think we’re seeing the beginning of flight, and in my mind that’s what’s going to give cities like Seattle it’s only shot at healing. We’ll see.

Imagine using an atlas to travel the city, or just your knowledge of how the streets cross streets work and knowing which way is N,E,S,W. My son brings his kids over and they show me videos i cant even see with my glasses. But i know what is happening they sound so happy. I just know how times have changed and even tho others may find sadness and sorrows i have find many laughs and memorys. Cherish, pass down, love.

I was born and raised in Ballard up to 1982 where my parents and I moved to Montana to be close to family. Then we moved back to Renton in 1984 and then 2017 moved to Spokane. I would ride the bus into downtown Seattle and the walk up to Pacific Science Center from Westlake Center. I use to work for Seahawk Stadium aka QwestField aka Centurylink Field; which is now Lumien Field. We moved to Spokane for the sunshine but it has the same gray days as Seattle. As a Tacoma Kid I loved Hanging around capitol Hill buying records at Platinum Records from Zach eating at Hot mama's Pizza or chilling at Westlake. Seattle lost a lot that was fun about it. Maybe it was the transplants that disrupted a delicate balance. Change is bound to happen, but I just feel that the people that made Seattle what it was are no longer a big enough part of the population to keep it in the direction we all loved. Even the homeless were largely enjoyable characters. People like the spoon man, The guy with the tubes and all the other buskers and personalities. I would love to go back in time one saturday hang out and end the night at Naf studious.

So maybe start exploring the other areas of the city? Any slightly interesting city worth its moxy has its rough edge spots. Anywhere else that doesn’t is *bland* & *boring* …

I've been here 6 years now and I have to say, the last magical year for me was the summer of 2019. I remember moving to Capitol Hill in the spring of 2019 and felt like I had hit the jackpot! Looking out on the city from the Hill left me feeling so blessed to live here. But there has been a decline since the pandemic. So many businesses closed and just people I use to see around town have all moved out. Cost of living is also a major factor, don't get me wrong, it was expensive years ago, but the value for money and the taxes just make it not seem worth it anymore, on top of all this 'go slow' construction. The weather is also starting to get to me too, but warmer climate places are super expensive. I went to New York last summer and that magic I felt in Seattle, I felt it there, it was just a vacation though. If I ever won the lottery, its definitely goodbye. I would probably just visit Seattle in the summer. Likely places I would relocate: Austin, Texas, New York, DC, or Florida.
