If you can hear the fucking words. I just watched the film that was edited, and it was so freaking annoying. Practically every other word they edit it out, and Dave throws a fit. Censorship is worse than any possible word they can say.

She was hard to shock because she would always shock you first. If you watch her other interviews, and I believe these were both on Dave, she taught us about spankings and Vicks Vaporub.
I'm pretty sure every time she said fuck the show had to pay the FCC, like, $10,000 or something. That's why Dave's reaction was so big every time she said that.
there were no issues or fines from the FCC - the david letterman show was not live ! the show was pre-recorded in front of a live studio audience in the afternoons (4:30 pm monday, tuesdays, & wednesdays, and at 3:30 pm & 6:00 pm on thursdays) then aired weeknights at 11:35 pm...all of madonna's expletives were removed prior to the broadcast...
I highly doubt that as it was the show’s producers idea, which was confirmed by Madonna’s publicist at the time. Liz Rosenberg finally admitted that it was all planned beforehand, but Madonna took the heat as usual.

I'm interested in how Carson would have handled this. I'm sure Madonna would have been banned. I saw a clip where Dean Martin went nuts with censored F-Bombs, but since he was hilarious and won over the audience, Carson didn't seem to mind.
Carson would be just like “ooh ooh is it hot in here, are we still on the air, 00 that’s some weird wild stuff, ooh ooh.“ Carson had no talent for banter like Letterman. That’s why they went with Jay Lame-o.
I liked her music but not her character with the attitude of a teenager in need of attention... Frankly, nothing impressive, a low level interview, even if Letterman demonstrates his usual class and professionalism.
