    Mullin was always shooting 50% from the field in this era. Career 51% shooter from the field and 38% from 3 with 86% from the free throw line. This guy was a sensational shooter. One of the best ever .

    The 90s version of klay thompson. Quicker than he looks. Phenomenal shooter all around. Ability to guard the other teams best player while still making plays on the defensive side. Catch & shoot whenever from wherever! Did y'all see that deep 3?!!!.

      Adrian1018 I would bet on average that’s exactly where he hit from. He was hitting that back in college. He did it his rookie year too. Was always hard to stop. Sure seeing Kareem used it inspired it. Always wondered why more players never tried it

I mean, I love seeing Steph pull up from 35 deep and nailing them with ease, but the crafty inside clinic Magic (and like you pointed out, Kareem too) used to put on is virtually non-existent now. The glory days that were the 90s in the NBA. Sighhh

    Legend has it that Mullins came back from alcohol rehab and a long time not hooping.
    First day back free throw practice he hit 94 out of 100. Pure shooter.

      Back in the early 90's, I was watching a Warriors practice at the Coliseum and Mullin was shooting free throws by himself before it started. I counted 93 made in a row before he quit. Funny thing was, the very next game he played, he missed a whole bunch of them!

      wweecwwcwtnanba1928 I remember some sports pundits saying Mullin would be better than Michael Jordan when they were both in college. Mullin was a perennial All Star with Golden State and on the Dream Team. Underrated you just forget his prime.

    Chris Mullin was a great scorer and had good size. Definitely a fun warriors team in ‘91 which included Mitch Richmond and Tim Hardaway. Loved the NBA in the 90s

      Yes, he had just had one of his best years in 1991, averaging over 26 points a game and the first dream team was in 1992...so the timing was great for him. 🏀👍

    Magic got career average of 19.5PG/7.2Rpg/11.2Apg on 50/30/85 splits and he was so much greater than these numbers. Magic got 9 season in a row averaging 10.5Ast or more. In those 9 season the 10.5Ast was the lowest because 8 of those years it was 11.5Ast or more. In 83-84 he average a career high of 13.1 Ast that’s insanity while still giving out 17.6Pts with 7Reb and 2stls

      He could score more easily...he said one time...24 point per game....is just 6 + 6 + 6 + 6....but he never had the numbers as a goal. His goal was to bring the team to win and elevate the performance of team mates.

      Gianni Fanetti That certainly was shown throughout the playoffs. His numbers would always go up in the post season. I mean he didn’t even need to score when you have Kareem and worthy. He was generating so many points.

      The step back has been around since the 80s Larry Bird was already using it. Chris Mullin in his prime probably didn't need it tho, he had that deadly quick lefty release with defenders couldn't do nothing about it.

    Mullin a career 18.2Pg/4.1Rpg/3.5Ast on 51/38/86 shooting splits. He was a lot better than his numbers. An all round fantastic shooter. He had 5 years averaging close 25/5/5 on like 52% shooting from 88-93. Super underrated

      You could make the case that Mullin is basically a smaller version of Larry Bird....Bird brought a lot of size and big man skills, but other than that they had a lot in common.

That’s the avg vertical in 1980 and the it’s exactly the same today it’s still 28 inches. People underestimate Larry’s athleticism when he was young. After 86 Larry really lost a lot . But young Larry from 80-84 was a good athlete

      @@ericwright2594 I don't remember where I read it, but the difference between Webber and the Warriors was how he wanted to play.
      Webber envisioned himself, ironically, as a big man running the floor and guiding the offense like a point-forward. The Warriors, however, wanted Webber to be primarily a low-post traditional power forward.
      I can't remember how Webber's playing style changed after he was traded to Washington and played next to Juwan Howard, so I can't say if C Webb ever got his wish to play like Magic.

      Nah they couldn’t defend and rebound with the big boys and is why they lost. They tried to play ball like they do today n got manhandled. They would b better today . That style doesn’t work when they let teams b physical . And the early 90s west was a more run n gun style but when they got to the playoffs in the west they had to play the teams who were physical in the west n always got beat up on

Nelly was too early that style couldn’t work back then the way they allowed teams to play so physically on defense and they had too many great bigs who played in the post n just got crushed inside n stayed in foul trouble n got slowed down. Now in todays nba they would b more successful

    I think it’s ridiculous that Chris Mullin is never mentioned when talking about the greatest shooters of all time. I mean, this guy made the Dream Team roster, and a guy that slow had to get almost all of his points from jumpers.

      To be fair he always got a lot of layups. These teams ran fast breaks at every opportunity, you see in this video Mullin was always hunting steals. He was also a good cutter.

    I had never been to an NBA game in my life. Age 30, moved to the Bay Area. Found a girlfriend into giants, niners, warriors. Mullin, hardaway, marcilonis (sp?) - Mario elie, later Chris Weber
    They’d win 50 then exit early but what a team.

    During that time, the Lakers would ALWAYS beat the Dubs when it counted, in fact, from late 70's to 2012, they always won when it counted. Mullin was on fire this night, RUN TMC was at its peak, before Nelson traded Richmond for Billy Owens (WTF?) One of the biggest wins of the TMC era!

    Watching magic brought back some great memories . Salute to Chris Mullin rep that NY all day ! Magic was banging it on people ! On the slam side of the game . I loved western conference basketball back then . Push the ball ! Score will be 120 - 149

    Mullin was simply automatic with that short, sweet stroke. He and Klay Thompson have the prettiest j’s ever. And, Magic was freaking awesome. So smart, so competitive. All timers.

    I didn’t know Magic could get the the rim like that. I mean, I know he was good in the open court but he was a great post up player and could get to the rim at will.

    Mullin was great … clearly a HOF … Magic was a modern player before they had dunkers ball handling and creating for others. He was and is one of the top players of all time.
