I live near the Rock Island Arsenal, formally Fort Armstrong, and they have a small museum. It's not fully dedicated to the Blackhawk War but they have some interesting info on it and some historical markers. If you haven't been it's a wonderful place to check out!
im originaly from cassville,wi,i know of effigy mounds across the river from cville,at nelson dewey park there is indian mounds but south of there on top of the bluff right above my parents house at foothills,i hiked n hunted up there for decades,i never thought of it,might be indian mounds not noticed,trees,brush,over vegitation,cant realy see them
I live in Davenport Iowa across from Rock Island (fort Armstrong and Blackhawk state park. There is a stone monument in that park marking the location of the Illinois militia artillery position that shelled Blackhawks village an unknown ancestor of mine (SGT Corbin) is listed on that monument as one of the artillery butchers

Very interesting, but Black Hawk was born in 1767 not one hundred years earlier.
