Don't mean to be critacal, just helpful. You almost always turn Cresent wrench, channel locks, and vice grips in wrong direction. they are desighned to tighten the girp when presure is applied, when turned in tie correct direction. 🙂

@@manuela.hernandezcordero2658Them little China quads are actually pretty good. Other than the chain falling off constantly, I had a neighbor who abused the crap out of his and it still kept going. Perfect for people who know how to work on their toys, and don’t want to spend a whole lot of money fixing it. They make semi automatic and manual ones too, if you want to go faster. The automatic ones uses just one gear, and it’s equivalent to 3rd gear. Not too slow, but not fast either.
Next time you need to pull a carb from a 200 Honda here is a tip... Remove the two M6 bolts that hold the rubber isolator to the head, 8mm wrench, loosen the intake hose clamp on the back of the carb, then just slide out the carb and isolator to the right side, just falls right out. Also its good to replace the O-Ring on the front side of the isolator at the head, they harden and flatten and leak with time, so does the O-ring on the front of the carb to the isolator. Its a lot easier then dealing with the 10mm nuts at the carb, the bolts to the head are easy to get to. I've rebuilt a lot of these 200's, 200, 200E, 200ES. You can get any part you need for them still, the valve caps can be replaced with brand new XR200 valve caps from Amazon since those are so chowdered, new o-rings on them will stop leaks there as well.
I have learned so so much the last 3 months watching your videos. Dude, it’s been an amazing learning and watching them. You’re awesome. You’ve helped me tremendously when I built my top end on my Honda rancher 350. It runs amazing now, and I have to give you the credit from all your help watching. Thanks Brotherman.
I really enjoyed this video. My childhood friend's grandfather had two Honda ATC's, one a 185, and the other, this 200 you have here. My friend and I both had XR80'S, and his grandfather would take us down to the train tracks in our small town, and we would ride the dirt bikes, and ATC's for miles down the tracks. The good old days.
I had a 250 Honda 3 wheeler 2 stroke, it was red white and blue, I used it to pull my ice shanty, it was fast but too tippy for me, I traded it for a 125 Honda CR, this stuff brings back memories, I love it.
You always apply pressure to the fixed side of the jaw on a Crescent or a Channel lock you will have better luck not rounding things off. Also the TDC has a arc that you have to find the middle of because it stays at TDC for several degrees
One of the best free finds you'll ever come across and congratulations. I wouldn't be riding around too long with the carb leaking gas like that with the exhaust being that close.
seeing the old skool On Off Selector on the fuel cap takes many of us back to some great times. plus, that’s also an indicator that anything you do to repair and/or restore what’s below it will not be in vain. good on ya, Joe.
If you think that one's rough you should have seen the one I owned for 15 years as a kid. There wasn't a bit of that bike that didn't have wire holding it together. But that was the bike that made me realize Honda's are damn near invincible. That thing was under water more then above In its last days.
When you were trying to to get that cap off to find TDC, I’m suggesting for next time to stick a quarter in that slot then turn with some pliers and also spray with the wd40. I’ve use this and it works

There is a young lad that will be very pleased with you. I have been there ! Not with motors, but fixing things in general and have found that a few items I have worked on suddenly start to work and I never knew how ?!! Apologies if I have already mentioned this, but as a pit crew for a Mini 1000 Challenge series team here in Blighty, we were on a track day at Brands Hatch. I was taking lap times and the car failed to appear from Clearways. After looking around, there was the driver in a small layby just on Paddock bend. I got permission from the tower to go across the grass to see him. He said "your the electronics guy fix this will you ?" Er ..... OK I replied and started to look at what was wrong, there was no spark between the lead and chasis. So I disconnected the main lead into the distributor cap and electrocuted all who were leaning against the car. I said it was the rotor arm. The driver rushed over to the pits and came back with one which when fitted fired up no problems. Some head scratching occured when I lokked at this rotor arm on the bench with all sorts of highly sophisticated equipment, nothing wrong with it. When compared to a working one same dimensions. I love your videos! So many great memories of me growing up in Wisconsin on a 160 acres. I’d drag everything that smelled of gas an oil back home with me and wrench on it . Once I found a couple old snowmobiles at the dump and made one run good enough to drive It all summer and was a good swamp buggy😂😂. I learned a lot just keeping my minibike going and to this day I still repair my own vehicles. Your father must be proud! I’ll be looking forward to more videos!
Another excellent video. Don’t listen to the comments about how to use a crescent or your framing hammer. I watch every video and they are great. Keep it up.
That brings back sooooo many memories. My first bike was an 85 200s. Loved that 3 wheeler. I converted mine to electric start. Still wish I had it. Then my next bike was a 86 200x. I did so much work to make that 3 wheeler like new with the money I had. I miss my 3 wheelers. I'd love to get my hands on a honda 250r 3 wheeler.
Joe will probably get a lot of flak for his crude tools and wire wheel jet cleaning, but this is how all of us started out. My tools came from dead grandpa because the Snap-On truck never showed up in my driveway. Jets were cleared with grandma's smallest sewing needles. Joe just shows you if you get a free bike and you just try, you might have a running toy in no time.
That ship has likely sailed. If he was single he’d probably have the proper tools, parts washer, and vapor blaster like a lot of the other good channels. But he’s got a wife and small child, I think? So there are now other pressures. He has to make money from a YT channel (not the smartest move) just to survive. He really should have a regular job with health insurance and the YT channel as a side gig.
I think the valve inspection caps are 24mm or 15/16 inch. If you can't get a socket on, a box wrench is next best. Runs pretty good for being so old and rough... typical Honda. I wonder if the compression improved after running a while. I love the birds singing in the background, that is sweet 😊 Also I agree with the comment about turning the correct direction when using a crescent wrench, pliers/channellocks or pipe wrench. Keep the videos coming 👍
Try looking up acupuncture needles / 3d printer nozzle cleaner. They're very small needles that are pretty strong. Would be nice for cleaning out jets.

Yeah this one is in much better shape than the ones for sale around me. And the sellers are smoking some good stuff, wanting $2,000 for them because it’s “rare”. Even though it’s in God awful shape, and it’ll need another $1k+ work done to it. For that price, you can buy a used 2-stroke race bike that’s only a few years old, and is in excellent condition. Try checking the bowl gasket on that three wheeler Joe. Those go back from setting long periods of time. Try some grease.,or transmission fluid on that rubber gasket to loosen it up and soften it up some to. It might reseal itself again to that way. Another thing the float bowl might have A hair line crack in it somewhere.,busted in A hidden space hard to spot it. JB weld tank putty stick can fix outer crack spots.

Where do you always get the manual info like carb jets sizes or intake and exhaust valves and stuff about all machines you fix? Is there some kinda site? If yes, what is it?
My brother had a 200 ATC.. that thing was SO much fun.. It seemed like his had long forks on it, it was SO much fun. Someone stole it from our yard one day and it was found on the railroad tracks a few days later totally broken.. destroyed. Shame.. it was SO nice, we rebuild the engine, new brake on it.. ahh.. so sad. Living in New Jersey these things are HARD to find now.. Oh well.

I know this is a late post ,the decompression cable goes to the top of the pull start cover ,there is a mechanism in the pull start cover, pull back the tape on top of pull start cover and the hole should be there
My cousin bought a brand new one in 1985, he would ride it to work, which was at a cow farm. In 1989, he graduated high school and left home and as far as I know, it's still parked at his parents house, in the backyard.
Yo man I have a question was just watching your videos on doing a cheap 440 kit on a Honda 400 I wanna know if it held up with it being a cheap kit I wanna do it but at the same time I wanna get a good kit in your opinion was it worth doing
Clean off metal on electrical connector in cap. Check valves to, they are infamous for loosening/ tightening adjusters. Pull that compression release back see if exhaust valve is slightly opening.
i have been working on things for many years. i am just curious.. when you blow into a pilot jet, to see if it is clogged, how can you tell that it is "heavily clogged". i mean, i can tell if it is clogged or not clogged, but i am wondering how i can tell how heavily clogged the pilot jet is.
I had one of these....Mine was Red White and Blue as I remember...Looked great but the 350 came out and that is the one I wanted.....The 200 was under powered.
Hey man I have a 07 400ex and I went to change my break in oil and it came out grey I installed a new wirsco piston and rings I installed a new cylinder and installed a tusk comp clutch. Any clue what could be the issue?
Do you know how I would have to adjust my carb if I give my quad full throttle from idling why it would bog it works fine when I’m riding just from stand still or idling
Damned chinese quad, probably needs coil and cdi. We work on them in my shop to and they're usually not to horrible unless it's electric. Signal coils go bad to. Got one that keeps coming back, told the guy to just junk it and go buy a major brand, Honda would work for him, he's a hay farmer. Told him repeatedly, there's a reason they're so cheap. Will be ok for a bit but can't handle hard usage. He put rack on back to haul hay out to his horses in his south pasture. It's a 150 but pretty weak. Good luck with that, need any advice Brian and I would be happy to point you in the right direction.
That is amazing I just don’t understand how you got it free! Here where I live, there is always crappy bike and quad going for 1500$ even if they don’t run at all. That might be the fact that there is not a lot of people and so not a lot of vtts… But I don’t know I would love to buy one for like 500$ and restore it but no everyone is asking too much for their beat up bike because we all know they beat it and that’s why they are selling it.

Old mate is a champion I would let him work on anything mechanical that I own..
i love watching your videos man! keep up the good work!!
thanks for watching!
I am positive just buy a rebuild kit for it and it will stop the leaking and work way better than it ever did. You can’t beat the original carb.
Where do you always get the manual info like carb jets sizes or intake and exhaust valves and stuff about all machines you fix? Is there some kinda site? If yes, what is it?
I got the same year 200s! Real nice machine...
Oh well.
it has been a long time since I rode a 3 wheeler and yes they are a blast to ride especially in the mud.
I love your videos. I've learned a lot. Please, PLEASE for the love of god buy a set of large box end wrenches and put the crescent wrenches in the bottom of the tool box where they belong.
Probably carb and spark. Good start.
Nice job 👍
Saw a guy riding one of these on the trails up at Harrison Hills near Tomahawk last summer
To get those little timing covers off Ive just used a quarter and a vice grip. Tap on the quarter w a hammer and twist. Usually works.
The wiring harness on those Chinese quads are built with minimal materials: especially the plug connectors. That's the first thing I check on them.
Yo man I have a question was just watching your videos on doing a cheap 440 kit on a Honda 400 I wanna know if it held up with it being a cheap kit I wanna do it but at the same time I wanna get a good kit in your opinion was it worth doing
Quick question Joe. How do you get the gas smell off your hands?
great job with both machines.
The OG Honda runs again. 💪😎. Joe does it in style
I had one of these....Mine was Red White and Blue as I remember...Looked great but the 350 came out and that is the one I wanted.....The 200 was under powered.
For the venom? Does it have a brake switch that needs depressed in order to give spark?
I have two Yamaha ytm 200’s. They are an absolute blast to ride down at the river.
Hey man I have a 07 400ex and I went to change my break in oil and it came out grey I installed a new wirsco piston and rings I installed a new cylinder and installed a tusk comp clutch. Any clue what could be the issue?
ahhh, fond memories of watching the news with a cast on my broken arm at 10 years-old, the day they outlawed the sale of those. 😆
I still ride them to this day, after almost 40 years of riding them i still haven't got hurt by a three wheeler, quads on the other hand....
Do you know how I would have to adjust my carb if I give my quad full throttle from idling why it would bog it works fine when I’m riding just from stand still or idling
Congratulations somedays things just go right, I like those days also.
Good video.
doesn't happen often haha
It may not be the fasted thing, but it looks a lot of fun & those small single Honda's go on forever.
Sometin with old Honda's , they never seem to die. lol Great find and Big Up!
I have a 2005 Honda 250 Trx ex and have a small brass washer I need to know where the washer goes in the carb please.
Old Hondas never die
ahh, 85 200s a sound i know very well. that machine is worth the effort. so much fun to ride. couple beers and buddies.
Free!! Pull cord alone is $200 on eBay
Air fuel screw, best at 2 full turns, factory spec.
Free, what a beautiful gift ❤
Vice grips are so much better than a box wrench!
Knew it was 200 s not X, X was sport model, red white and blue. I had the M model. Very nice trikes.
Man took me back to growing up in Alabama we had theses and we had a lot of fun. Lost your headlight immediately 😂😂😂😂.
Fun fact. You could rent these from U-Haul. We used to rent them..lol
I swear you be getting new things everyday lol keep up the work bro
Realy good video joe loved it god bless u and your family great job on video
Do you keep all these machines or do you fix them and sell them
" it's had a hard life". 😂. That's a very nice resto project better then most. Hell it still has a headlight and pull starter! Come on 🎉
That's a golden oldie 😮
Clean your carb or dirty parts w engine degreaser or wd40 it works amazing
Those Hondas are like a Casio Watch.. Indestructible ❤
Love reading the comments. Seems to be a few that must be genuinely unhappy with their life. Constructive criticism is one thing, but being an AH is something else. Do you think Joe, or anyone else, cares what you have to say. You're "nobody", some random troll on the internet. If you really don't like the channel, why wouldn't you stop watching and reduce the number of views by one. Every time you view the channel and comment, you're making more money for the channel.
Did the decompression mechanism cable get re-connected?
