Joe, the master link if you haven’t found it yet, look at 53:09 to the right of the chain the master is right next to it
good eyes haha
. was wondering if anybody else saw that 😂🎉
It sure was lol
I saw that to. Wow
Saw it too, surprised he didn't, his hand was like inches from it lol, well worth putting few bucks into it since investment was $0.00
I heard the starter screaming to stop the abuse all the way out here in California!
I worked at a polaris dealership back in the 1990's with my best friend. We didn't have many of the 6X6's come in but when they did they were beat to hell. Started at that place as yard boys just moving display machines up to the front lot at open and moving them back at close. Doing prep work on new units going out (Install battery, wash, check tires etc) until one day the mechanic we had quit and the owner walked in the back and saw the back log of work. Pointed to the manuals and told us to start working on them. Only had the job for about a summer but it was a blast. We had access to 4 Wheelers to ride and access to the demo water craft out at the lake.
We learned a lot that summer.
That’s a country song haha
@@jeremyp3589 That is fitting as it was at Polaris of Texas. LOL
You saying Positive and then connecting to the black, and then saying negative, and connecting to the red sent a shiver down my spine..
He is an idiot. Did you see the one where the kawi started on fire? Haha
Just when I thought I didn't have much to do today, I see I'm gonna be "busy" for about an hour😂
I’ve got tons to do but it’s all gonna have to wait now. 👍
You just love that spark plug tester have to do it on every video
Lol
It's a new trend on youtube so he's jumping on the bandwagon
And this thing is useless.
I absolutely hate it. if it sparks, the plug has a 99.99999% of being good. It's useless filler.
just put a new plug in the damn thing
Dude is a Legend at finding these Deals
You ain’t lying, cause every time I look they are nonexistent… lol
most of the time they find him! its people who watch him that give him & sell him bikes
Yeah he probably doesn't have to look anymore.
So true, and I hate him for it lol....
Another champion of a starter
He loves wrenching on it. And it loves being wenched on.
Joe is a Master Mechanic, so impressed. Young guy is magic with motorcycles.
Great video. Only thing missing on this channel is cleaning/painting to get them in sellable shape. Nothing overboard, just a nice clean and touch up. The before and after would be so satisfying.
That's what I don't understand about him. He's Good and tracing firing/fuel problems. But wont sand blast nothing or repaint nothing. I've done amazing things with$40 worth sand paper and paint. Maybe he's not a paint and etc guy. But most people are that know anything about motorcycles so 🤷
@MarkAlan-no7mb he might not sand blast stuff butt I've seen 4 of his kids. IN 2 of them he took a drill wire brush cleaned stuff off and REPAINTED WITH HIGH GLOSS THAT HAD A PRIMER MIX ALREADY ADDED...So in my opinion that has him at a 50% rate of painting on his shows..
I love how Joe just gets on these old rust buckets and gives them hell! LOL. You gotta see what these things can do. Love the channel brother. Keep on wrenchin'.
Usually, if you have a bent valve you will see a very loose rocker, you were also wondering why the spark plug was so wet with no compression you’re going to have a wet spark plug does matter how much spark you have those notorious for dumping raw fuel into the intake as well.
Not true at all
Now that's a deer hauling machine. Another magnificent find Joe!
That dump box could be rebuilt for a couple hundred dollars if you know how to weld. Flat steel is still affordable . That old machine would be nice to have around the home. You don't need to worry about scratching or beat it up and it good be a work horse.
I honestly thought it would be a hell of a rough ride across the field but it seems to float pretty nicely. The master was laying right next to where you looked at the chain the first time.
Got another big bore 660 to 686 to do today. Guss I better get my guys going... great vid Joe. I got a younger guy helping out, his thing is always " what would Joe do"? Brian my assistant always says clean the carb.. lol.
FREE is my favorite 4 letter word.
I can’t say mine here but free is a close 8th
No way me too. Very underused nowadays on bike listings.
Mine is BOOB. Fletcherjacobs yes you can. I can't think of any 4 letter word you CaNt SaY on here
We can see why it was free and to be honest the seller probably would have paid you to take it away! But it's also great to see that somebody got their money's worth out of that old Polaris, somebody spent big bucks on this thing brand new nothing with the Polaris name on it was cheap! Great job getting her running!
Wicked deal! Probably took a bit for the valve sealing surface to clean up then that fixed your back fire. As for the shifting there are some detent pins that get rusted stuck in there, clean those up and you should have low range.
Joe, we're all in awe of your diagnostic skills, but your deeper skill includes researching engine specifications and finding parts for 20 to 40+ year old small engines and machines.
Wait, do you not realize these are staged repairs? An engine doesn't just get one super tight valve, lol.
The frequency of these boring uninformative videos is increasing at an alarming rate. He is just hell bent on getting to the magic million. He/They must be loading up the stuff that they have accumulated from a stock pile.
He is the front man presenting the videos, everything is set up for him and he tries miserably to make it looks like he knows what he is talking about. I know that there are those that would say "why do you watch him"
I comment the way I do because I want people to just be aware that they are increasing his revenue. He is so not up front about the way he produces this highly questionable material.
I often wonder where he even finds all these machines. Let alone has time to go pick them up, repair them and post a video on them. I do believe he is a rather skilled mechanic though. I also wonder where his money comes from. With his current subscriber count and lack of sponsorship there is no way he can afford to buy machines, parts, new house (within the past few years), black top his driveway, buy 50acres of land. And he is talking about building a new shop.
its not that hard lol
@@fitzfarm8694 you can take out loans for all of this tbh
I picked up a non-running 2001 Polaris 6x6 kind of on a whim a few years ago. I mostly just thought it was cool but it has been an absolute workhorse. I use it for just about everything around the yard, I don't want to imagine life without it now
You got that right same thing with his double walk around at the beginning of the video or all his driving on the “ land”
Congratulations, if it is free it is welcome, I think that if you save it for a while, you will be able to use it when you build your own track, as a bus or taxi to move around the future track, you are a mechanical genius, greetings
I just put together a 2005 sportsman 400 that was a basket case and had a problem with the carb couldn't up to full throttle. Put on the drive belt and all the plastics, and the issue with the carb went away. Your video's has taught me several things and troubleshooting issues. Thanks 49:54 . Keep the video's coming coming.
The 6x6 could be useful in the garden this year! Hauling seeds and plants and other miscellaneous items!! Great video
1400 hours , oil has never been changed 😂
It’s a Polaris you don’t need too
@@z.a-c_h 👍
long life, extended range oil......!
After 1400 hours it finally gets to go for a leak.
Awesome find and super interesting to see these mad max type vehicles get running. I would turn down the volume in the editing software when you do the spark test (and also the beeping battery)… they jump the sound super loud.
Would love to see all the remaining repairs carried out! Looks like it would be a pretty handy contraption for collecting all the produce that you're growing or for carting a few deer on the property!
Backfiring through the carb is also a sign of a vaccum leak. You need to expand the shop....sandblaster, vapor blaster and a powder coat oven. Deal done.
Or no air filter
Them old Polaris's are bullet proof we had a old Polaris side by side man i dunno hom many ditches that thing got sent over not a problem with it 8000 sold still running great it sat 4 five months fired right up
Now you can haul your daughters pumpkins home 😮
hey Joe .. good find .. with all the dirt bikes you have purchased .. there may be something free with it .. I wish you the best buddy .. you are doing beautifully .. I look for your mail every evening. .with the time difference with USA and Belgium...not bad at all...as you say... 🤜🤛👍
I'd love to have a machine like this with those exact tires. My neighbor has a Polaris 6x6, it's awesome for plowing snow. It's also 2 stroke.
This one looks like a 4 but yes the ones we rode were 2 stroke
Even though I don't ride any of the vehicles you work on, I still enjoy watching your channel.
Nice Joe, loved seeing that pressure shoot up after the valve adjustment 😊
Donuts in a 6x6 😂
Legend
🤔My father would say "FREE yet surprisingly expensive." Great Job, you can't beat FREE. Your patience and skills pay off. 1:04 The chains are on there. ARGH - Box of parts - let's put Humpty Dumpty back together again.
Nice. I would use 15-40 or 20-50w high zinc to protect cam lobes.
You are good at adjusting valves. From watching you I noticed that is the problem a lot of the time that and cloged pilot. I noticed you didnt oil the rusty chain then it threw the master link off. It had lots of compression. Some paint would help the looks and maybe some welding some new iron on that rusty bed where it needs it. Pretty nice for free. Woo Hoo! I like that it is a six wheeler.
Its about time you got a freebee!.. out here doing gods work reviving machines with with one tire in the shredder😊
Seems like the perfect beater for winter snow to me
"I think we need a bigger garage" - haha that line just killed me. Keep up the good work, we're learning from you man.
Bro! i love watching these videos you make, i'd really love to do something similar one day. do you mind if i ask what your camera setup is?
It’s about time you get a bit good luck joe after some of the projects you have had loving all of your content mate
Your teaching along with Mustie1, Low Buck Garage and few others .. Im now fully confident and educated enough to be dangerous and get My projects done this summer. I have to Thank you big time mate. You taught me more than i need to know now. Cheers.
You did a great job!!!! Have fun with it!! More fun to come!!
Another awesome find and video! Thanks for sharing your talent and ability
I mean its a bit rusty but it doesnt need a concours resto. Rust inhibitor, take it down to clean metal. primer and then do cammo wrap
If he goes grinding any more metal off he won't have much of a wheeler left.😅
I was thinking the plug could have gotten wet from? You guessed it. GASOLINE. 😂
The thing about those older four-wheel drive Polaris they have a magnetic coil control front wheel drive setup. The wires that run the coils in each front wheel hub is thinner than a cow's hair. 😂 You can pick those wheelers up cheap all over Marketplace.
yup and people never change or check the oil in them
You mentioned about having more room. Well I build two shops , last one 40x75 and still don’t have enough room. Build bigger than you think you need and plenty of lighting.
Who else could see the master link sitting on the ground when he first showed the chain on the ground
yep @ 53:04
He probably took the chain off himself and laid the link there just so you would make comments in the comment section About it, every comment helps the channel,
I did think that and honestly I'm happy to help the algorithm
@@MattyPanton Me too,
He's lucky he found the chain, never mind the master link.😅
Love ur videos and trying to learn more about working on these types of engines. Can u explain more of the what and why when u do it .
Those bright headlights on the top have ground issue usually. Have hell with my Sportsman sometimes. Put a 14" LED across front, solved light issues.
Yup, 53.03, you can see it as well....jumps right out at you.....great work pal...keep up the awesome videos.
Ha! You don't need a bigger garage: You need a Showroom!!!
You. Have earned. That. Ride. For your. Tenacity. Well. Done. !
You can go into that shifter and free it up to work it’s a incredibly simply design the shifter itself sits inside of a square box that hooks into those push pull rods going to the cables
I would love to have one of those.
I have a 97 polaris xplorer 400.
Thank you for the video Scott from Maine
Would make a great farm atv with a few repairs.
Stick minimum money in it.
I have everything you need but the seat cover to put the fix on your 6×6 , reasonable priced
find it interesting that im working on a similar age polaris right now that was also a freebie. love making things run again that others have given up on.
Great find, Always wanted a 6x6. Good Job as always.
when you loosened that tight valve. it oved SOO much haha i knew it would have compression for sure after seeing that,. Lucked out man!
Thats awesome Joe, I've learned a lot watching your videos. Thank you
You have?? Like how to burn your house down?? Haha
If you would have looked while you had the carb apart, i believe you would have seen that there is no accelerator pump.
The choke is just like a needle and seat.
Every time you open the throttle while cranking, the choke does not work making it hard to start.
Just a friendly helpful hint
I got one given to me because the old guy kept falling off into the dump bed! Sold the engine & plastics! Converted to electric and modified it to become a 6x6 mini jeep! Used 3 mini jeep bodies!
Not a miracle at all!
You are the master of basic combustion engine troubleshooting!
Excellent!
Put a few $$ into it and sell it to a farm family where they will use it for many years!
Happy Days Joe Has Posted 🔥🔥🔥
Hi John from the UK loved the video
It's always an adventure fixing stuff with Joe 👍
Man I got to admit you getting all these Polaris at the same time i am hunting a intermittent no spark on a 95 magnum 425 is awesome
Really enjoyed this one. Thank you.
FREE is my favorite 4 letter word
Boob is a good one too Ken!
There notorious for the exhaust cam lobe to wear out and decompression mechanism on the cam the spring wears out out
Crazy that you dropped this video in the same day I’m looking at the exact same model 6x6. I’ve never messed with Polaris so I’m not sure if it can make money or not.
I think when you shift to low the rear Brake needs to be applied on those.. i believe its that way on mine ( dont ride it enough be sure)
Wondering what resource you use to find the right compression readings vans valve clearances?
saw sparks by the white bottle whith red cap about 38:16 went back 3 times and looked it cleared up right then you must of moved a wire good luck.
I'm so glad Joe heard me screaming "compression"!
Nice I saw it when you got that super nice bike. I was wondering about it I had same one years ago and have been wanting another one that is affordable. I remember back in the late 80s early 90s could get most any ATVs motorcycles snowmobiles almost anything for cheap or free not often anymore.
Use a solder iron and melt the plastic and heat up wire and melt it into the plastic and plastic weld it back it worked on my old machine years ago. Ps if you want to sell it let me know. Thanks Dale God Bless
Good job, handy machine to have about when it’s fixed up.
Definitely gonna have to a sick rebuild of this one it would be awesome!
Some of your diagnostic paths are hilarious but still good vidyas!
13:40 alrighty folks thanks for stopping by....................NOT with Joe on the job!!!! Great vid
Good spark , check valves. Dumping gas in, maybe needle and seat in carb bad!
You are off to a good start on this project.
hey Joe, love your videos just gotta say. I love how it's not this super loud yelling flashy bullshit and you get to feel like you're fixing stuff with you
baking soda and super glue works wonders for cracked plastic it makes a chemical weld that is almost as strong if not strong than the regular plastic.
Looks like a good beater for free good job!
Joe if you haven’t already, you may want to invest in a borescope. Very useful for all kinds of things
You could see the valve come up when you loosened the rocker just a tad. Lucky find on that one.
You have to step on the back brake to stop the engine clutch from spinning so you can shift it forward and reverse
I'm glad you use the spark plug tester it's better they killing yourself kicking so I say use it everything smart tool to have good for you I learn something new every video keep up the the good work
Kenda bear claw tires, love em great bite!
LOL.....The master link was right next to the chain when you picked it up off the ground. You can see it on the video. BTW... I love your videos... Keep them coming....👍
Lol I see it to damit joe is blind lol or far sighted 😮
For future reference a bent valve will not cause tight lash. Usually it's a worn seat or valve face that does that as the valve is allowed to travel up more.
Another thing is from ppl touching stuff they know nothing about. Probably tightened the lash too much wouldn't run anymore then came to the conclusion the engine went bad.
Popping thru the carb is not lean. More than likely the valve that was tight had crap on the face and everything cleared out and it seated again.
53:08 master link in the dirt right next to the chain
You love that spark plug testers 😊👍
