I watch all kinds of videos on foiling, and here you are, someone upstate New York on the shore of Lake Champlain. My home stomping ground,. Good for you. I'm down in Ocean City, New Jersey, foiling on my Jen 2 now for about. 12 sessions and worth every penny. I'll be up North this coming July. Maybe I'll see you out there on the lake, it's a big lake, I'll be closer to Plattsburgh. In cliffhaven. Just south of the air force base back the days. I'm looking forward to bombing around on the lake. Hopefully, they will be some good wind. I know they get waves as well. Maybe we can do a down winder . Michael .
Man, you nailed this tip on how to take off and approaching your hands to your knees. I took me a while to get it by myself. It’s key for guys like me 60yo w/o surfing background and not loads of flexibility. Prone surfing became a reality for an old man with a dream that w/o FD would be impossible to accomplish. Expensive?! How to price a dream come true at your 70’s?
Glad the tip helped. Couldn't agree with you more on your last comment! I've gotten a lot of use out of it. "You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing."
Im 60 and wing foil but would love a way to go out on no wind days or help to learn to prone foil in the waves here during the summer in florida. Great tips thanks larry
This toy is made for you!! I'm 61. I use it all the time, either for downwinders on lake rollers, flat water pumping, or wake thieving. This guy today let me ride his wake for 1 hour. Used 10% battery life only. In a couple of weeks I hit the ocean. Can't wait to try it in the surf.
“It’s only money, you can’t take it with you, and you need the garage full of toys”… Couldn’t put any more eloquently, now I’m gonna try selling that to my wife so I can get that KT Drifter I’ve been eyeing… 😂😂
Excellent FD explanation demo, am getting onboard for supsurf as well. What’s the dimensions of your board? I think you mentioned 60L? Doesn’t look like you can stand and paddle?
G’day thanks for the tips, I’m old surfer too but new user just got the Foildrive & I’m on a Naish Hover Wing SUP 125lt with Axis 75 or 85cm mast & 1050HP Front wing or 890BSC, just seeing you pump I’m tossing up whether i need a bigger front wing or go a smaller board. What size is your front wing ? Hooroo 🤙
I'd definitely go smaller on the board! In the video, I'm using the Axis PNG 1300. It's great for flat water pumping and really small bumps (chop). For everything else, it's too big.
@@lakechamplainkitenwing today third session and I rided standing up. The difficulty was gradually controlling the throttle. Helped me to lock my finger between throttle and the remote body
@@lakechamplainkitenwing I am learning now on diy drive. Nobody actually shows how to do that and even to start learning in an unordered choppy sea water. And on top of that with the wing in these realistic conditions. It is always this glass lake water or smooth swells of Australia .... Common Or using these small prone boards , small foils... As if it is obvious doing the motor assist already when knowing foil and knowing surfing waves. I am doing it from the opposite - using assist to learn foil, waves and wind faster
ruclips.net/video/y5BewJWMg3s/видео.htmlsi=Bx5iQuq-b1Qj_nOM This is some of the best video I’ve seen about getting up on the board. I just received my max about a week ago and have been out three times. I had a lot of trouble just standing up on it so spent a lot of time working on dialing in the throttle control with the phone app. This is well worth the time. Now that I feel comfortable on my knees, I believe I can start modeling the steps you are taking. I did a deep dive into your video to break the steps down into very small bite-size chunks that I think I can handle. Here’s a clip of my observations. Again, thanks for such a great video capturing the initial steps. I’m looking forward to trying it out in a few days.
Wow! That is some serious video analyzing. I do the same thing! I took the gen 2 out on a 12 liter board the other day and was able to get up. Wasn't easy. Training your trigger finger to stay steady while your body reacts to all sorts of other things is quite a challenge. Good luck and please let me know how it goes.

Yup 60L. Definitely can't stand and paddle. Amazingly fun gadget!!!

So you are transitioning from sitting to standing already in planing phase before taking off, I will try it.
Took a couple of tries. Have fun!!

Haven't tried yet. Maybe this week. :)
