    My typical lunch is a cheeseburger and fries or some fried chicken. After watching some of your videos, today's lunch was some steamed rice, a piece of fish pan seared in olive oil and a small green salad. I had some apple slices for dessert. Not perfect...but not too bad for my first Mediterranean diet meal. This is a new way of eating, for me.

    My go-to lunch is sliced tomatoes, at least 15ml of olive oil with salt and freshly ground black pepper, and one or two slices of homemade wholewheat bread. This idea was given to me by a relative of Greek Cypriot origins. I sometimes finish with a small bowl of Kefir/natural yoghurt (good for my gut micro biota) with a seeds and nuts granola (no sugar or honey).

    Thanks for sharing all this info! You have definitely helped me move forward with the Mediterranean way of eating! I've been working towards eating this way for a while and watching your videos helps reinforce making the appropriate changes. A big change for me has been adding nuts and seeds - I've just upped my avocado toast with the addition of pumpkin seeds and sliced almonds - added to the goat cheese and radish that I usually have on it - they really made the taste much more satisfying.

    This is great information. Silly question: I say the exact same thing on my channel and get nothing but hate because the keto/carnivore community that only eats once per day (OMAD) attacks me in the comments…. How come they don’t seem to be in your comment section questioning every statement? Do you delete the comments or have they given up over time? Seriously, if I say “eat some nuts” they go ape-crazy with the “lectins will kill you” and “oxalates cause kidney stone” stories. If I mention a vegetable, the carnivores say “plants can’t run away from you so they have anti-nutrients.” Just curious how you deal with it

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  5 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for this comment - it’s an important discussion point! I never delete any comments unless they are truly inappropriate (only has happened twice so far).
      Truth is, I don’t think that community has found me yet, thus I don’t really have naysayers in my comments. But I make a point to respond to every single comment on my channel, no matter the viewpoint. I will never argue or fight with anyone - it’s a losing battle in my view. My goal is to simply share my knowledge and experience that I’ve learned from my education and time living abroad. I’m not preaching, just sharing. I think striking that tone is hard to argue with (at least I hope!).

    Do you have a video on dressings? I’m getting back to salad season and my dressings start getting boring.

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  2 месяца назад

      Good question. I don’t have a dedicated video to dressings. Often, the Mediterranean dishes include olive oil and some type of acid like vinegar or lemon juice for example. I do like to mix tahini in with lemon juice and a little olive oil and water and it gets nice and creamy!

    Up until now since I make my lunch around 2:00 ( I’m not hungry until then),I eat my biggest meal then.I have been trying to find the healthier precooked dinners( healthy choice ) lowest sodium content,highest fiber and I add extra steamed veggies. With the low carb meals I add quinoa,whole grain brown rice or riced cauliflower or broccoli)I also have Triscuit crackers w cheese ,glass of whole fat organic milk.IF I’m going to have a sweet treat I eat it then so I can burn it off before bedtime.I’m clearly a work in progress 😏.( did I mention I hate cooking?😊 10:26

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@cindypatrick785 excellent question! I totally get the confusion. A way to decide is to think about your diet overall - the fat in dairy is mostly the saturated fat type. What other sources of saturated fat are you eating? Do you eat meat? Do you eat butter pr coconut oil? And overall, are you looking to lose weight? All of these can factor into which type you choose

    • @annapleetmd

    Is white rice ok?

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  2 месяца назад +1

      Awesome question. A lot of people mistake white rice for being “bad” and brown rice for being “good”. I don’t believe in foods being bad or good, and research doesn’t show that there is much of a difference of which rice you choose for how it impacts your health overall. So if you like white rice, enjoy it! But if you like brown rice, then enjoy that too

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  8 месяцев назад +1

      When I mention dairy, it’s not a “no dairy rule” but only less of it. Greek yogurt is fabulous, especially because it is a fermented food and a great source of protein, calcium, and vitamin D! You should always eat what you like, and remember that variety in our diet is often a good approach
