    Gentle but violent, lol. I see it actually is a thing! That was a BIG job. Thanks for another super-informative and well-made tutorial.

      @@JeepinJimmy hey Jimmy. What master cylinder ended up fitting right for you? I'm currently putting together parts to do this on an 87 yj 2.5l

    Thank you very much for this video! I'm working on a 1993 YJ 2.5. It appears this conversion has already been done as it has the external slave cylinder. the Jeep is no longer shifting into any gears with the engine running, Ive tried starting it with it already in gear and the wheels want to turn even with the clutch to the floor, also making a hell of a noise. Seems like the clutch is not dis engaging the flywheel with the clutch pedal all the way down. First thought was bad master/slave cylinder...replaced it and it didn't fix the problem.
    Does it just need a new clutch? Also, are the clutch plate and pressure plate the same as 1993 OEM or do I need to get parts for a later model wrangler since it has this conversion done.
    Thank you in advance!

      Clutch and pressure plate should be the same part!

      I have a 95 yj that had the same problem, the CAUSE was unexpected and very clear. The slave cylinder actuator rod was fully extended and actually hung inside the slave cylinder. I did the measurements that prove the rod was too short, it was not worn, I made a longer one by grinding the end of a 5/16 bolt that was 1.5 inches longer that the stock rod. The results are unbelievably better, smooth shifts and no grinding.

    Heyy Jimmy, do you know if the external slave bearing retainer uses the same seal as the internal slave bearing retainer? Not the gasket, which I see is the same, but the oil seal. It looks like yours was pre-installed, but I forgot to order one, so I carefully removed the old one (that was in good condition) and put it in the "new" retainer, and am hoping that wasn't a mistake!

      Dang im not sure! Like you said, it was pre installed. Good luck!

    Jeepin, what was the end result on the YJ slave cyl? Did you get a new part or did you modify the existing part? I’m going from a factory A5 internal slave (1991 YJ) to a 98 external A5. I too am trying to figure out the correct year clutch cylinder kit.

    I also have an internal clutch cylinder. I'm thinking about doing this conversion. All I can find is AX15 parts though. I have a 87 jeep yj 4 cylinder. Can I use AX15 parts on a AX5? Like the Throw Out Bearing Retainer

      Im not sure if they are interchangeable. I think ebay would be your best bet for used ax5 parts

    I have a 1987 jeep yj 4.2L with the Peugeot transmission (no issues) and have been thinking about doing the swap also do you know if it would be the same as what you did. Thanks

      Not sure exactly but if it’s not the same the steps are probably very similar

    now is this conversion only for a 4 cylinder? I have 1989 4.2 IL6 and been thinking of doing this conversion..

      @JeepinJimmy  11 месяцев назад

      No sir! You can do the same on an AX-15. Im sure it’s a very similar process, if not identical

      I did the AX15 conversion on my 1987 4.2l. The slave kit they sent also didn’t line up with my bolt holes on firewall. Can you link the slave cylinder you purchased to finish the project?
