  • In this interview, I interview my cousin with his 1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ (Yuppie Jeep). Although it might have been called "Yuppie" 30 years ago, anything resembling yuppie has left the chat. This hairy chested man mobile is sporting a 4.5" lift, 33 inch BFG KO2s, Bilstein shocks, SYE, B&M shift tower, auxiliary lighting, Badlands Apex winch, and much more This 4.0 YJ is fairly low miles for the age and is a great example of a well cared for classic Wrangler. I hope you enjoy the interview and let me know in the comments below if you have any questions.

    Good looking ride. I had an 89 and a 93 YJ before my current 2002 TJ. Glad to see folks taking care of the older iron.

      Sure is! Not too many YJs with original paint that are in this shape.

    I hope the 8.8 is a '97 or newer. You'll get disc brakes. Much better stopping power.
    My 93 has gone through a couple of growth sperts. You might consider an MSD 6AL ignition box and high vibration coil.
    If you plan on keeping and using as a daily driver, free wheeling hub conversion is also a good mod.
    Be careful though about what JEEP stands for.
    JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET!

      Sorry just seen this comment. I thought you were saying this Jeep is a 4.2 and I believe you were saying your 84 is a 4.2. My bad

    Since you said you're going to upgrade to 4.10s with the new axles, I assume you have stock 3.07s. How does the power feel on road with the 33's? Does the short shifter help at all or do you still pretty much lose 5th?

    • @civilianjeeps
      @civilianjeeps  Год назад +2

      Yes, it has the stock 3.07s in it. I said 3.21 in the video but I meant 3.07. It’s my cousin’s Jeep but I’m pretty familiar with it and how it drives. 5th gear is pretty useless unless you’re downhill with the wind behind you. The 3.07s are just way too far out, to be beneficial to the engine or transmission on 33s. The B&M shifter didn’t do much besides provide more responsive shifts and a tighter shift pattern. Still is sluggish in 5th just like before.

    straight 6, 4.2L,

    • @civilianjeeps
      @civilianjeeps  Год назад +1

      No, the carbureted straight 6 was the 4.2. In 91 they switched to the 4.0 fuel injected straight 6. This one has the factory 4.0.
