  • My review on the smaller SEIKO skx013 which as far as I can see has been discontinued and there is no replacement!

Definitely keep it. Now selling for over $500 in the U.S. (March 2021)

Love 38mm watches, understated, feel like an accent not a set piece. They do take a day or two to get used to.

Thinking about picking one of these up but though I have a small wrist I have always thought looked slightly too small.

I’ve had an skx013 for a few years.
Now that it’s been discontinued I wish I would have taken better care of it

On the hunt for one of the little guys. Have you kept it then?

I agree with you. I was on watch for a week to see the skx013 drop in price. It didn’t trust there were many left in stock. I got it as soon as it dropped $100 USD on amazon. I’d be surprised if there’s any left by Christmas.

I always thought the turtle was intended to be the SKX’s successor. Seiko has a history of introducing the successor to their divers before actually discontinuing them. I think the Seiko 5 is just meant to be a fashion watch to capitalize on the SKX modding community, nothing to do with their actual diver line.

Seiko should have upgraded the SKX series with a better movement... hacking and manual wind. I don’t like the new prospex turtle shape. I just got the skx013 and it’s a bit small on my 6.5 inch wrist but I can wear it with certain outfits. Definitely need to change the rubber strap it came on. But you are right these prices are going up. It’s a shame I didn’t know about this classic sooner! I ordered a skx007, think that will suit me better but will keep the 013 and pass these on to my boys one day. Prices have gone up, get them new while you can and yes you can make your money back or even more one day.

Thee Seiko 5's although nice are not replacements for the SKX. They're not entry level divers.

Where I live they can be found everywhere in stock. One store was out of stock two weeks ago and now they have it again, I want to get one for my wife. The are around $250 they always were here things are more expensive than in US and UK.
If it is indeed discontinued it is a bummer, like you said there’s nothing to replace it in Seiko’s line-up, the SKX023 and SNF27 are already discontinued, and there’s definitely a market for mid-sized divers if you ask me.
Honestly I prefer the SKX toolish simple design opposed to the glitzy new 5’s and others with polished marker rings and fancier dials. There’s a place for both approaches it was good to have a choice.

Great review, you are right about the prices going up. I have just bought one before they disappear, the best UK price I could find was £263. I have a SKX031 which is a 40mm. I have small wrists so I am hoping that's the SKX013 will be a better fit.

How does the skx jubilee fit on the 5kx? I've heard that they don't fit well without curved spring bars.

I believe strapcode made the end links that fit the 5kx since the skx has a (slight) different position

Love the skx series! I have tiny 6 inch wrist and find the 013 suits me better, but still feel he full size fits decently well.
    Currently own a 007, 173, a35, 013, 025, 7002, and picking up a 7548

Jon is the 7002 the predecessor to the 007?

Why you would buy a new 5kx when you have the original SKX is beyond me tbh, but that's just me. I'm a 007j owner and adore it so much it gets more wrist time than my breitlimg Superocean.
