Great video, It's definitively one of the great Seiko pieces that’s overlooked by watch enthusiasts most of the time. One thing that you didn’t mention and that I’ve been trying to know is the year Seiko first made available this great diver. Thanks for your hard work, you have one more subscriber. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and commenting. While researching the skx013 I spent some time trying to pinpoint a release date. Unfortunately, I did not have any luck.
I saw an SKX013 on eBay which had a 7s26A movement which was the movement variant used in the very first 007’s so I think it’s safe to say they were introduced at the same time
I have to say: excellent review! You covered all the bases (and then some) without going off on tangents. I really appreciate the outdoor shots and all the effort put into this review! Subbed 👍🏻
for anyone interested Long Island watches makes a great version of this. I just ordered one. Saphire crystal and solid link bracelet and a ceramic bezel. cant wait to get it.
Excellent detailed review. Looks great, but...how does it keep time? 😉 Also, you mention you sold your 009, and later wish you hadn’t and thought about getting another. Why didn’t you get another? Did you sell the 009 because of its size relative to your wrist? Thanks for your review!
Thank you for the response and the compliment. So far my 013 is keeping excellent time. I know this can differ from piece to piece. Originally I sold my 009 to put money toward another piece. I guess it's all just part off the watch addiction. I would have bought another 009. However, I figured I would give the smaller 013 a try. I do still like the 42mm size and may pick up the orange 011 that I reviewed recently.
Skx discontinued. I think this one, the skx013 is the one to grab. Prices going up slightly, but there still seem to be plenty of 009s and 007s about (and even the comparatively unpopular orange dial 011). However, the 013 is getting harder to find and generally pricing higher than the other skx models. I could easily imagine new ones going for around $500 in a few years time. And besides all that, it’s a great little watch of course!
@Donnie Darko Check out the Seiko homepage www.seikowatches.com/jp-ja which lists all their products in production. Absolutely no SKXs anywhere to be found. It seems the range has indeed been discontinued, although there may well be many thousands of still unopened boxes of SKXs all around the planet. (Probably not that many J versions or SKX013s though) It does show the supposed SKX replacements the SBSA001,003,005,007 models in the new Seiko 5 range. www.seikowatches.com/jp-ja/products/5sports
Ian S still not too late to grab the real thing! They may make better specced watches than the SKX range, but fans don’t buy the SKX for its specs. They buy them because they are that rare thing: an actually affordable iconic, classic horological beauty!
Hi , do you know if SKX013 comes in a J version or are they all K versions ? ....... i really want one of these watches but can only find K versions (i know there is not much/if any difference between J/K)
Thank you very much and welcome to the channel. I hope to bring many more reviews like this one in the near future. Enjoy your SKX and wear it well.👍🏻⌚
@@thegreatgambino Have you tried to wear it? Because I guarantee you there's a world between the impression this watch gives when you see it, and when you wear it. I'm below 7 inches wrist, so I didn't even bothered trying it at first. It looks big. I thought there's no freaking way I'm wearing this. But the sales insisted that I should at least try it. I've never tried a watch that sits so well on the wrist. You don't see those 45mm at all. I'm not biased, I did'nt buy it. I was after another watch. But I must say I was impresed by the look and quality. It deserves a saphir glass but the Samurai deserves justice. A 40mm would look like a toy.
@@H0kram I actually have tried a Samurai on and I agree, it wears much smaller than a 45mm . On the wrist It looks more like a 42mm. I'm planning on picking up the Seiko SRPB55 in the near future. I have been putting it off for way too long.
@@thegreatgambino Srpb55 is a fantastic choice. It manages to be classy and sporty at the same time, and is quite well finished. The damn hardlex is all I'm complaining about. At this price range, Seiko is making fun of us. My guess is that it will be slightly cheaper now that the skx production is shut down. But anyway, I'm looking forward for your next review!
I have this watch and I must say it’s my favourite. It is very small, but it’s cute, unique and low key. But it’s bad ass.
I agree. I can't seem to take it off lol.

Saphire crystal and solid link bracelet and a ceramic bezel. cant wait to get it.
Plus drilled lugs.
Modified is not the real deal for iconic watches
They did make a mid size skx with a Pepsi bezel. It’s called the skx015
Thanks for the wristshot ! I have a 6,75" wrist too and this really helps! Cheers
Happy to help ☺
The date is in spanish, hold’s the same value on the market as the ones in English(if it make sense)?

Great review bro!
Thanks dude!
Great review, I'm just wondering if yours has french or spanish as a second language day display? I see LUN on the video. BTW mine is ordered!
I believe the 2nd language is Spanish on the one I have. I hope you enjoy your watch. I have been wearing mine almost everyday.👍⌚
The second language in mine is Arabic but I also seen one with Roman
How much
Hello , is it possible to take the rubber strap off and replace it with the SKX jubaliee one ???? Thankyou!!!!
Yes you can.
Where can I buy this Skx013?
You can usually find them at Long Island watches.
@@thegreatgambino Thanks
Or buy an Islander from the same site since it's not trash lol.
Love this watch!

Ian S we’re addicted! There should be an AA for skx fanboys! “Hello my name is Shoten and I’m a SKXaholic!
Just pick up an skx013 unworn for 550. They are indeed harder to find and there is no stock at Creation Watches either.
which one would you prefer SKX013 OR SNZF21k1 .. which one leads..
They are both great pieces for the money but I prefer the skx013. I like the size and added specs. Of course that is just my personal preference.
@@thegreatgambino the skx013 has the same weight than the skx007 ? Thanks
@@Valmy35 I have not weighed them both but I would assume the 007 has a slight bit more weight due to the bigger case size.😁⌚👍🏼
Great video 👍
Thank you. Been working on some new Seiko videos that should be up soon.😁⌚
Def a cool piece and a great size
What's the glorified box opener?
Just a generic brand OTF knife I picked up during a trip to Florida.

@@thegreatgambino Thank you :)
yes j they are availble but rare
I have not come across any skx013 in J version. The one in jubilee bracelet is more sought after
great vid,.. auto subs. Thanks. Gonna order this beauty today

where did you buy it from please?
Long Island watches
I want buy this watch?
Long Island watches should still be selling them.
Good video . I like the watch . I think I will get one. I Will take it off that band and put a NATO on it .
I'm glad you liked the video and it really is a great timepiece. A NATO and an skx is always a good choice.👍🏻
I wish seiko makes more 38-40 dive watches, especially with their 4R movements. *Sobs
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a 40mm samurai⌚🤞🏻
@@thegreatgambino oh wow, never thought about it, a smaller samu would be awesome... Hope they don't decide to discontinue like the original did -_-
