- There are a lot of problems we run into with games. This Modern warfare DirectX Crash error is one you may encounter when changing graphic settings. The simple answer is the "Overlays". But wanted to show some of the things that can fix Modern warfare DirectX Crash that people may encounter. This CODMW crash can be annoying and my issue was resolved by disabling the overlay on discord. If you have a COD Modern Warfare DirectX Crash and not sure what causes it, I hope that this will help you get back to gaming. TO be clear this is the directx encountered an unrecoverable error in modern warfare when you change any graphic setting. I actually crashed during the call of duty warzone Halloween event and made me come to make this video quick.
I wanted to start a series of 2 minute quick fixes, maybe there is a better name for it, feel free to suggest some in the comments.

Oh man that's sucks you got it after spring break. Yeah this issue was driving me nuts and after I figured out the fix I had to do a video on it because it is major annoying lol. Glad it helped!
I’ve had this problem for close to a year I gave up until the other day and this is the only video that helped! Warzone doesn’t crash anymore but now having graphics issues.

Awesome that fixed the problem! But my other issue is why everything looks so blurry logging in to warzone and I’m running a 3070
Make sure you don't have resolution scaling on. COD for some reason defaults at 75%. Just make sure it's at 100% :)

Ive tried everything. Also looked up everything I can and changed things from reddit threads. At this point I have no idea what the problem is. (Yes I have done the basics/Updated GPU and Win. etc.) While I launch MW I get to a sub menu ( Mult/warzone) and the game crashes while my dude is walking for about 10 secs. No error code. Then when i try to re launch it, it asks if I want to run in safe mode? Ive used safe mode a few times and it works but as soon as I change my graphics to my native settings (1920x1080) it crashes again. Its not my hardware. Im running 3070 and 3600x with 16gb ram. Ive done all the little things in Nvidia like v-sync and etc. Ive verified files, ive re-installed. Ive done everything. I have had no problems until recently and I have no IDEA WHY!!!!!

@@jamesbutcher8634 It stop on its own, but if i go any higher then the default ingame graphics it crashes
at 1:41 theres some bass drop or something and wearing headphones sounds like something is falling in the background. your solution worked but i spent like 5 minutes on this video bc i thought something fell.

I was legit about to reinstall my os and all drivers clean wipe everything
It worked, my issue was with afterburner and now I can’t have it on 😂
It really depends on what you're using, as I was saying, if you want afterburner running you'd need to stop another overlay, steam, origin, discord all have overlays and COD freaks out when more than 1 or 2 are running 😞

Did you try finding any overlays? That is the main reason for this error. It can be discord, uplay, origin launcher all of those have overlays that can cause this. Hope you can get it fixed, really annoying I know! Thanks for watching!

Sorry far behind on comments, but I really don't have any other ways to fix this as it all has to do with the overlays that are running on other applications. I'm sure you tried updating drivers and all, other than this I'm not sure man 😞

Tried so many things only thing to fix it
when i tried launching up warzone again it popped up a message to go into safe mode and i pressed yes but now my resolution is messed up but my settings are set back to normal
thats what happens when you go in safe mode. Hopefully you figured out how to change back your resolution

Yes you mainly just need to turn off any overlays you're not using as I mentioned the issue is just having more than one overlay on which CoD don't like. I never use discord overlay, i normally hide it anyways..so in my case discord overlay is not needed. If your overclocking or do performance gameplay/ benchmarks like I do then the choice is anything but afterburner lol.
