    I love your understanding of this album! and I agree that some tracks tend to be too short. It really has that nostalgic childhood feeling and it's very psychedelic. Definitely check out "The Campfire Headphase" by them. It is a lot more guitar based than synth based.
    Another album I recommend is "Moon Safari" by Air.

  • @threedeemelodies
    @threedeemelodies Год назад +17

    happy cycling is actually a bonus track, one very important thought is the “actual” closer.

    Bro my first year with BoC was like your reaction, I liked some tracks but found some others very repetitive. One night I went to bed with Geogaddi on my MP3 player and there was a moment on You Could Feed the Sky that made me extremely emotional, from then on their music became an obsession for me, even after 20 years! I agree with @pablito that you would enjoy In a Beautiful Place out in the Country. Also don't miss out on their remixes: Poppy Seed, Poppy Seed Reprise and Dead Dogs Two are really good!

  • @thatdudemath
    @thatdudemath Год назад +12

    Coming from your Geogaddi reaction, here's a fun fact about aquarius: the numbers from 1 to 36 (when she breaks the pattern) all added together make 666.

  • @beepst
    @beepst Год назад +6

    I can tell you're a hip-hop head not only because of the album covers in the background, but because you were trying to find meaning behind tracks such as Kaini Industries. That made me laugh a lot. Great reaction.

    If you like ambient electronica you should give a listen to the man who defined the genre, Brian Eno. While still technically a rock album, "Another Green World" is a masterpiece and contains a number of instrumental, ambient tracks. His most famous ambient work "Ambient 1: Music for Airports" (1978) is probably too minimalistic for a decent reaction but is worth checking out.

    • @jori1

    Very cool video and very cool reaction. It's ok to feel sleepy listening to Boards Of Canada, it's definitely a band that i use to relax a lot. Fun fact: the track "One Very Important Thought" is a manipulated audio from a porn movie, were they just added "boards of canada" in the speech(also, a lot of very innocent samples from their tracks come from porn movies lol)
    If you are going to hear another BoC album i would suggest "The Campfire Headphase", that is mostly regarded(and frowned upon by elitist "fans") as their most acessible album.
    A album outside of BoC and IDM sphere i would suggest is "I'll try living like this" by Death Dynamics Shroud. It's a mix of experimental music, pop,vaporwave,plunderphonics and glitch that doesn't sound like anything i heard outside of this band.

    It was an exciting time in electronic music when MHtRtC released. Arguably Downtempo was king with Ninja Tune and Mo'Wax setting the tone, but Boards of Canada really made waves with their debut. It was so esoteric and murky, but specific in that way, like you referred to, "nostalgic" and intriguing. People's ears were really open to experimentation and variations of the post-rave, electronic music movement, and so much of the music in that era really thrived on pushing boundaries. Give Squarepusher's "Feed Me Weird Things", Luke Vibert's "Big Soup", or the masterful megamix "Journeys By DJ Coldcut" a consideration for review. Loving your videos and your takes.

    BRIAN BENNETT - VOYAGE 1978 is a Masterpiece of Classic Electronic Futuristic Cosmic Funk right from the very first track you're in for an amazing journey in to Space and Time with some very creative and funky tunes lots of awsome drumming and bass lines and talk about the ingenious use of the Synthesizers and other incredible Sci Fi soulful sound effects that were incorporated in to this amazing Album it's all organic sounds no computerized effects it's all done by pure talented musicians I highly recommend it for you to react to the whole album it's super fun classics.

    "What?!.... a seagull?... why?!" Why indeed! Love this reaction!
    Please react to some older records by Oneohtrix point never. Since you seem to like the art of putting together an album, I would recommend listening to and researching the marketing ploy for his 2015 album "Garden of Delete"
    His older stuff relies heavily on arpeggiated synths and weird patterns but his never stuff is more cinematic and breathy but just as intense. Garden of Delete signifies his first real departure and exploration in style and it made for a damn listenable album even if a litte bit out there at times.

    I'm so happy that Open The Light seemed like your favorite track of the album. It definitely feels like waking up to breaking dawn shimmering mist dew on flower petals.
    But sir, let me just tell you: The Campfire Headphase is an incontestable chef-d'oeuvre and in my regards the absolute album from BoC (I'm ranking it #1 of all time, all music included. It's just that good.)
    I'm pleading you to give it an ear and make a review about it. This is THE album that makes you nostalgic about a past you probably never lived, and you cannot help but long for it as you're riding this rollercoaster of album.
