I can’t stop laughing, I was a teen and remember how popular Arsenio was so when I saw this sketch the day it aired Johnny trying to fit with the kids and taking in Arsenio’s energy I just lost it. I had not seen it in a while and can’t stop laughing.

And nothing before it. I watched SNL from its start and it was fresh new and usually funny with The Not Ready for Prime Time Players, but the Hartman Carvey Meyers era was tight.

Farley/Sandler/Rock led team Mid '90's. Ferrell led era late '90's. Fey/Fallon led era early 2000's. Murphy/Piscopo led era early 1980's. Belushi/Murray/Aykroyd/Radner led team 1975-1980.

Let’s appreciate how the crowd shots are so deliberate. They’re trying to be hip just as desperately as Johnny. The old guy at 6:03 - you can just tell from his 2 seconds of screen time that the producers handed him that Yankee hat on his way in and he’s never worn one in his life.
