Just checking back to say I still watch this and listen to all of Nancy's vids and songs and will continue until I have no more ears.....!!! I am 72 and still sing and perform and she is still my soul inspiration. I will sing with her one day....I know I will.
She will always be my favourite singer. I only discovered her after her death, sadly. I cannot imagine what it would have been like to see her sing. There is no other voice like hers.
Don't take your eyes off her face for a second from 2:00 to the end. Nancy is actually crying at one point. I'm a professional musician who's been living and loving music for six decades. I don't believe I've ever seen a more perfect wedding of the artist with the heart and soul of any composition ... of any type.
you would have really enjoyed seeing her in person. She was different than other vocalists, she understood the lyric not just intellectually but emotionally, as well as the writers intention and on top of it all she could preform it as intended. She attached herself fully to any material she performed. She had a gift.
Just found your video. I have discovered Nancy LaMott on RUclips a few years ago and have been a great fan of hers ever since. I totally agree with you. Remembering her tragic life makes all her interpretations even more heartbreaking.
I'm not sure it's accurate to call her life tragic. She lived to sing and she didn't allow compromise, not with the material she was drawn to or to record labels who wanted their stuff done their way. She had a lot of friends and she opportunities to sing. She was surrounded by the talented people she cared about. Her health sucked and had issues arise yearly. She could have used a bit more cash and a nicer home to live in but after her popularity began she finally agreed to let Bobby Baker set her up in a nice pad on 96th Street and Broadway. Though from Midland Mi, she was a New Yorker through and through and that is something she cherished.

The definition of emotional honesty and wearing a heart on a sleeve
I was fortunate to have been a regular at Eighty-Eights in NYC late 1980s/early 1990s when Nancy was performing weekly. Magic.
I believe this is how an angel sings...
I just want to cry...and cry... and cry. Thanks, Nancy.

Thank you Nancy,
breathtaking every time you sang...
She touches your soul!
I'm melting to her voice...
Sound quality may not be great, but Nancy proves it in the first ten seconds -- she's peerless.
☀️ sung like an angel 👼 with such delicacy and sensitivity. Love ❤️ it.
Could she have been the greatest popular female vocalist ever? I dunno...just sayin'.
Kathy Gifford, no mean singer in her own right, echoes your sentiment. So do I.
Jonathan Schwartz always ended his show with one by Nancy.
as the chatter subsided, then disappears...
Gone far too soon.
