  • Nancy LaMott sings James Taylor's "The Secret O' Life" at a series of free, casual Monday night concerts at Steve McGraw's in NYC in 1994, accompanied by Christopher Marlowe. Nancy was singing favorites of her repertoire and testing out new material.

NANCY LAMOTT, a great cabaret singer who left us too early, died too young at only 43, what a loss!

Dear God, she did it to me again. I've heard several versions from James Taylor, and a couple from Nancy, but somehow this one, with live video, got past me. The beauty that permeates her soul shines through every exquisite vocal inflection and facial expression. I know now why she died young. She was too beautiful for this world.

I was somehow never aware of her in her lifetime, but I can immediately tell she was an angelic person. With an angelic voice for the American Songbook. Thank you to Jonathan Schwartz for continuing to keep her legacy alive every week on his new internet station.

@@Arturo-sm1tb I discovered her on the day she died. Was watching Charles Grodin's CNBC show and at the end of the program he said, "Nancy LaMott died today" and played her last appearance from ten days before singing "Moon River". It was heartbreaking.

I miss the reality we all shared knowing she was still with us in this world. Clips such as this allow us to draw from her memory & relay an energy of hers on and on.
God Bless you, Ms Lamott. Gone too soon, and yet generous with the time she had. ❤

She was a great songstress and very lucky to have such a wonderful accompanist. They were always completely in sync.

He is ? I thought he stopped after the me too movement got them fired. Have listened to him on sundays for the first 55 years of my life. Mom and dad wouldn’t miss it. Love that his signature sign off at 3 on sundays was nancy. In fact that is how I learned of her

She always puts me away. Try to listen to her live at Tavern on The Green version of "Listen To My Heart." No orchestra, no band, just piano accompaniment. Just shimmering!
