I love this idea. But here's one extra detail. You've outlined that the First Keep and the Crypts beneath are LIKE a tree. What if they WERE a tree? Weirwoods turn to stone. The Tower is the trunk of an ancient Wierwood. The Crypts are literally the root system, hollowed out to become passages. Thats why Winterfell has veins - its the trees capillaries. I say the original GIANT Weirwood was inhabited by the Children. Then Humans / Human-GeoD hybrids burned and stole this giant Weirwood. The Weirwood was called 'Winter'. The Canopy was burned, and the Trunk died and turned to stone (First Keep, which is 'lightning struck' - burned'. The Humans hollowed out the trunk, and became human weir-wood druids. The Rootball of the weirwood remained alive underground and began to push up a new shoot, which is what the Godswood Weiwood is. Man stealing entry into the Weirwoods, seizing it from the CotF is the major theme here. This is why we have Jaime, a golden-solar-fire-coded foreigner be committing incest in the tower (GeoD people) be the one to push out Bran, the raven-led, psychic, native Northerner, out of the tower. GeoD humans stole it from the native Children.

Has anyone ever thought about the hot springs possibly being related to how deep the crypts go? It kinda reminds me of how dragons are hatched in warm places. You also assume the Three Eyed "Crow" (not Raven) is Bloodraven, but he was confused when Bran asked if he was the "crow" from his dreams, claiming he had been a "crow" once a long time ago i.e. a member of the Night's Watch. Also, Bran lacks the green or red eyes, physical frailty (having been quite athletic prior to the fall), and stunted/gaunt appearance typical of Greenseers; indicating that while Bran does have great power and is a Warg/Skinchanger, he is NOT a Greenseer whereas Jojen (who went missing at Bloodraven's Cave) matched every single desription. Also, the Three Eyed Crow is very mocking and predatory; seeking out dying, desperate children and luring them along the paths it wishes which is something even Bloodraven would hesitate to do. Lastly, the Three Eyed Crow had to be "invited" into the Crypts by Bran in his dream. In the real world, the visit immediately after is the only time Hodor refuses to enter the crypts and later shows no fear or problem when they live there in the dark for weeks on end. The Crypts and the First Keep are supposedly protected against "evil spirits", protections that could be undone by a direct invitation from a naive young Stark. Lastly, Winterfell *burned* as soon as there was no Stark at Winterfell, many of its stones melted like at Harrenhal and Summer beheld what it desribed as a "flying serpent that breathed a river of fire". That isn't something Ramsay would be capable of nor desire, as I imagine Roose learning he had to rebuild his prize was quite an agonizing conversation on Ramsay's part (whom, by the way, is an utter fool and not at all clever in anything save hunting girls with packs of hunting dogs but terrified of his father). Something was unleashed when Bran fled, a spiritual entity or a dragon or something else. Much like how a "winter hurricane" formed seemingly from Winterfell itself. A Stark MUST always be in Winterfell for a reason or reasons never explained, but it is empasized regularly. At this point, Bran has broken all but one taboo among Skinchangers and is one step away from being more of a demon than a human being or deity and now is surrounded by sketchy Children of the Forest in an endless cave littered with human, animal, and giant bones with the only one who knows what might be going on whom might help Bran is imprisoned and physically helpless. Strangely, despite being known for having many Skinchangers, Wargs, Sorcerers/Sorceresses, and Greenseers, the Starks are recognized most primarily by their cold, misty gray eyes; NOT green eyes or red eyes.

@@eldric.stoneskin The paste. Ritualistic cannibalism was part of First Man religious practices and what could be more holy than the initiation of a new deity joining the ranks of the Old Gods; note not each of the Old Gods were Greenseers in life or, at least, most weren't naturally so. Jojen disappeared from the story after reaching the cave, Bran's best friend and guide. Upon seeing Bloodraven, Jojen had looked pained and conflicted; maybe even sad. Bran couldn't tell what it was, having inherited the same trait as his mother and sister Sansa: if it doesn't directly involve him and his views, he ignores it.
But hey, he's maybe eight or nine at this point so immmature thinking can be expected; they have no such excuses. No power is gained without sacrifice, be it one you chose or a decision you did not realize you were making. Jojen as Bran's best friend, loyal bannerman, and a Green Seer would be an ideal sacrifice, given his sickly nature and low life expectancy he's unlikely to survive the winter even without the Others so he is more likely to be a willing sacrifice, if unhappy, which should empower the effects. Notice, Bran doesn't Green Dream prior to the cave. He has prophetic dreams, innaccurate and confusing ones but nothing like what Bloodraven describes or after the Weirwood paste, but has no where near the abilities Bran the Builder or Jojen had at similar ages.
Also, it is really weird that the protective older sister isn't questioning her sickly little brothers absence or even commenting on it, suggesting either a state of stupification or she knew beforehand what would happen. Months, maybe even years went by while Bran was tripping yet he only mentions Hodor, Bloodraven, and Meera. Also, Leaf is not friendly. She isn't welcoming. Or hopeful. Not concerned by Bran or for him. Just kind of a coldly amused. The Children's eyes are consistent with nocturnal and underground predators, so a Long Night wouldn't be nearly as dangerous with their caverns and eyesight. Their teeth are sharp, as well. They aren't the semi-vegetarian, noble, and sympathetic elves of LOTR, but predators, predators that have lured one of the few remaining scions of House Stark far beyond the Wall into a location controlled entirely by them, far from help with no hope of escape: tell me that isn't sketchy as all Hell.

@@eldric.stoneskin Remember, the Crow visited Euron Greyjoy (someone not even Bloodraven would tolerate, let alone empower) as a child, yet Euron has one blue eye and one red eye he keeps covered. If it were natural, he would not have to hide the red eye from others. Euron dreamed the same type of dreams as Bran, that implies maybe the dreams themselves are artificially constructed or something you are summoned into. There were countless other dreamers that died or worse due to the Three Eyed Crow yet he kept visiting children, sick children, cripped children, abused children, etc. He might be ruthless at times, even mostrous when necessary but thousands of children, one at a time over and over? I don't think even Brynden Rivers could keep that up for long, especially doing this to kids who he KNOWS wouldn't fit any histoical context or prophetic vision describing the Last Hero, Promised Prince/Princess, Azor Ahai, or Brandon the Builder such as Jojen and Euron; neither fit the molds, yet they clearly flew when prompted (something a trained Greenseer would've foreseen) so there was purpose other than a Heroic Role. Jojen led Bran to the Cave and likely died for it, but what is the only other person that was contacted by the T.E.C.? Euron is a madman intent upon becoming Cthulu with knowledge of magic, blood sacrifices, and breaking the world to do so, having no respect for anyone or anything (from kinslaying to blasphemy) and is cruel for the sake of fun. What manner of creature would choose such person as an agent or student? Also, this happened in dreams. Melisandre warns sleep is the purvey of the Great Other and believes Bran is an agent of the Great Other when she sees him in her own visions.

      1. You are right to distinguish between the 3-eyed-crow and Bloodraven in my opinion too. His reaction is too off to being called the 3-eyed-crow. (Earlier, I used to wonder if crows and ravens have different symbolisms, but I cannot find evidence of that in real world mythology. So now I think it's just characters' personal preferences in terms of their emblems and sigils. Because of his house, Bloodraven's bird-shaped-birthmark would be interpreted as a raven, and so is a blood raven. Euron for some reason favoured crows.)
In any case, if being the 3EC is a title and every next holder becomes enmeshed with all the previous ones, then perhaps it is the first 3EC, who I believe might be Brandon I who is doing all the visiting. That's how he could have such a large body count. He has been doing this since the last long night. (Bloodraven isn't because he did not understand himself as that. For him raven is obviously more closely associated to his lineage and greenseeing while crow is his stint in the Night's Watch. Maybe he thought he was visited by a raven, and maybe that is the shape taken when he was initiated. Or maybe he somehow skipped the process altogether.)
You raise so many interesting points about it needing Bran's permission and all! Perhaps there being no Stark at Winterfell would indeed have magical consequences.
And also your point about the eyes is compelling. But I just have one counterargument: even among the Marsh people, green or red eyes occur only with a minority. So I can see how that would not be considered representative of the people in general.

@CompanyOfTheCat That is a great comment and you’ve given me a lightbulb moment!
The idea of Starks abducting magical women for their skinchanging gift, while having a tower which you can leap from to awaken said gift, makes me think of the “maiden in the tower” trope we see constantly in ASOIAF
With all of these maiden in the tower characters also having lost their family, just as the daughters of the Marsh King and The Warg King lost had
      For example;
      - Sansa at the top of the Eyrie
      - Arianne in the Spear Tower
      - Ashara Dayne in the Palestone tower
      - Jeyne Pool in the Great Keep ect
We even find examples of these women who have lost family members falling from the tower they were trapped in, like Ashara Dayne, Lysa Arryn
Perhaps the Starks of old locked the daughters of the marsh kings and Warg kings in the First keep, who after having lost their family jumped from the tower which didn’t kill them, but woke the gift the Starks were seeking to claim
Sansa is a perfect example as her family has been killed, she has Warg blood, she been stolen for her bloodline and Stark name by littlefinger, has been locked in the symbolic tower of the Eyrie, and she has a lot of bird symbolism, wishing she could leap from the tower and fly, which is what happens when bran fall from the first keep
      I feel a video coming on….🧐

It's too comical to imagine their entire lineage taking headers off the tower. So probably they each found their own sequence of events to activate the greensight. There's many perils in the north. Not intended, but this will come off argumentative.
There is some debate whether Starks have always had the ability. However, on the topic of Bran the Builder. A bit of nuance to the story as it's presented. Three separate pieces of info that may not be connected, but seem to be to me. One, Bran the Builder lived during the Age of Heroes. Two, Bran built the Wall and Winterfell. Three, the Last Hero found the CotF. If Bran was a Hero, and built the Wall after the Others arrived, Bran appears to be the Last Hero.
The Last Hero lost all his friends, horse, dog, and sword, only then finding the CotF. Nan's story implies he was being hunted. Perhaps something obfuscated in this tale is that Bran had his near death experience running from the Others. There is a brief mention of Bran learning their language, which may in fact bridge the gap between Last Hero and Bran the Builder.
My only reservation with this theory is that there doesn't appear to be any legendary tradition connected to the Starks and Winterfell of falling from the First Keep. If falling from a tower was a test of 3eyeCrow ability I would expect a legend or two that involved leaping or falling. Some Starks who mysteriously died falling from the First Keep. It's not a bad theory, I just don't see this element of it as particularly strong.
