Hope you enjoy the video! I know I've become much more of a vim-evangelist these days, but had to make an update to that last video since it got so so out of date.
Thank you. Please make more video like this. It's very helpful. I try to be Golang developer and I will someday. And want that day some you is one of them that helping me to get the job.
Any ol Go project will do. Even a "hello world" program :) I was just using Cobra as an example. But if you'd like to poke around it, you can git clone it here: github.com/spf13/cobra
I've recently started studying programming and I'm going for Go My issue is that autocomplete is simply not working at all, i've tried every online solution and nothing seems to get it done. I've updated the plugins, tried to change the json file as lots of ppl online said (including copy/pasting the whole file) I've restart the language several times and still nothing works, I'm very frustraded atm, any tips on what could be?
Hey. I struggled a lot with that. In my case, I'm able to get completions if I open the file UNDER the vs code workspace. Not working example: Vs code workspace: ~/test/golang/ File opened: ~/another/path/main.go Working example: Vs code workspace: ~/another/ File opened: ~/another/path/main.go Also, make sure that there are three folders under your $GOPATH: src, pkg, and bin. I'm sad that I spent so much time searching this. Hope it can help you!
@@franciscogomes4009 can you please elaborate more about the workspace thingy and how do i know where my workspace path at? usually i just open my project thru folder. thank you!
I don't have the correct setup and when I click "run and debug", it tells me failed to launch. Also generate unit test for a function is not working as well.
Dear John, nice videos...I wanted to ask you how do you shoot your videos? green screen? tools? I shoot management videos and trying to have the best setup
You're welcome! Green screen behind me, recorded with OBS, edited with Kden live. The mic is a Shure sm7b and I have that on a Cloudlifter and an audio interface. That's about it!
do you know how to work with microsrvices in golang? what I want to do is open a workspace folder with all my microservices and start working in a simple instance in VS Code instead of having a new VS Code instance for each microservice, I am able to open the workspace but it shows a lot of errors in each .go file in the import sections, I think I need to configure something about go modules (go.mod) in every microservice but I don't know what :(

Please share the video for go formatter, prettier doesn't seem to work for go

@@JohnCodes thanks s million
Lovely thank u John
Hi John, this video looked very promising, but unfortunately it couldn't answer my very simple question: How do I make a new go project? From scratch.
Thank you
I had numerous fails on the tools. Install I had to copy the command line error text to install each tool manually until it finally stopped erroring.
Video player for Go?
John why do you have a winter hat on?
because it was winter when i recorded this 😄
thanks!
5:51 I dont find it now
Thanks
