*Western culture is so caught up in wokism and feminism, that it sees things in absolute terms only.. Either some girl is bad ass fighter or not, for west she cant be both have a warrior self belief and have a feminine sexual side to her, it has to be either by your reaction.Grandmother, his mother, his mother who brought him up, his love interest are all strong women, and there is nothing wrong in having a sensual side to her personality, which she had not discovered before she met him too. Just like if you are a warrior father who is ruthless on his enemies etc, he may have a very caring and protective and a feminine side to him in respect to his children and parents/ wife etc too.. These are not mutually exclusive, its two side of same coin. Its a artistic side of what represents their love story, where he introduces her to her soft side as well. she doesnt stop being the warrior and will continue to fight, and nothing wrong in taking up the honour pledge of someone you love, if they are injured. The whole movies is about strong women characters and your whole grap is they arent in terms of present day feminism and woke culture. This is historic, and for prospective just check which year USA even allowed women to vote, you cant change history and cant criticize it from present day prospective. Look at it, women queen is ordering the kingdom, his down below mother was ordering villages to close cave etc, his love interest is the lead character of her clan warring party, and its perfectly alright for each character to have a masculine and feminine side, applicable for both man and women and person is broken if doesnt have both sides, and artistic representation of how introduced her to her famine side is also perfectly alright from that time historic prospective.*

These films arent made to think,or introspect, they are made to be enjoyed in a theatre with Indian crowd going beserk, the direction himself said,he makes films for specifically Indian audiences and according to their sensibility, the scenes which might seem/are illogical, nonsensical and overtly over the top,are quite enjoyable and fun for us,also ss motto is "action with emotion",u get emotionally connected to these films, the level of suspence of disbelief matters a lot in these films to enjoy, sometimes he takes it up a notch but who cares u enoy the film too much to even bother 🤣,also the place from where rajamouli comes that is Telugu film industry,is a place where films are made with over the top star led huge masala films, specifically for people to enjoy their time to enjoy in theatre,we got a lot of industries in India according to their language ,like u definetly wanna check malyalam industry which makes nuances highly realistic story led ,logical and nuanced films ,the Tamil industry boasts the most technical films ,the bollywood (hindi films)again for dreamy films, the kannada for again a mix of both, and Marathi industry makes huge drama films,(Oscar worthy),it highly depends from which industry the film comes.ur next watch should be definetly be eega(from ss rajamouli), 😂,it's so good, its unbelievable, the director goes crazy with each of his film.

When Avantika looks in the water, she see's the other part of herself and Bahubali fell in love with that part of her at first. But Because of the mission she can't explore that part of herself. Movie shows her as a Beauty as well as a Warrior. Watch 2nd part, u will see more Strong Women Characters. Watch it as a Historic movie, so women are treated the same way as they were treated back then, NOT how would u like to Treat them. Nice Reaction

Its a fantasy movie. They don't have to treat people the same way people were treated back then. Example: Bahubali eating with the lower caste. And I am sure, even in olden times, tearing a girl's clothes while she is trying to defend herself was not considered appropriate behavior.
Tbh, the whole Avantika thing was just poor writing. She was just a prop to the story( token strong women) and would become whatever the story wanted her to become and no importance was given to her character arc. The second movie did things much better(as you said). That doesn't mean we cannot criticize the first movie where it was lacking.

He wasn't trying to sculpt her according to himself. When he saw her looking at her reflection in the water and trying to distort her reflection by shaking the water with her hand he realized she doesn't think that she is beautiful so he simply tried to show her her own beauty which you can see she appreciated as she immediately stopped attacking him. He just showed her he loves her it might seem weird but that wasn't the intention. And also about the special effects it's not meant to be logical it's simply meant to be enjoyed.

28:15 "Nothing To Do With Who She Is"
No sir, It has everything to do with who she is. She isn't a warrior or a royal soldier, She's a rebel. Rebel are not warriors, they become warrior for a cause. They are literally forced to do that, it doesn't define who they are. Avantika never wanted to be a rebel warrior, that was clearly established, I don't know what part of it is hard to understand for you.
You say that Siva wanted to dress her up like his fantasy, He wanted to see her how he wanted to see him.
But in the same time you contradict yourself by wanting to see her as a warrior which she is not.
I agree that the whole dressing up scene was problematic, but you didn't have problem with the scene honestly, you had a problem with a WOMAN being herself and not being what you wanted them to be.
Your reaction was great! But your views are problematic and kind of regressive tbh.

The reason why so much of time was dedicated to the flashback is because of the narrative choice. Instead of taking a linear approach, SSR introduced the next generation, built up the mythos of Baahubali, and then delved deeper into the past to bring it back to the present and tie the story in.
Also, the movie had lesser budget and was about a decade ago, so some of the CGI is a bit dicey. Having said that, even when I watched it in the theatre, never at one point did it take me away from the feel of the movie.

King was not a god, his duty was towards his people. A emperor can be uprooted if he is not performing his duty. In general welfare, tolerance, paternalism was expected from the king or emperor.

We talk up a lot of fuss about respecting women, but still treat them much less valuably. Case in point, someone will jump to violence to defend words spoken to their mother, but will in another instance, behave lecherously with women because our society treats women like 'deities.

also indian colour is varied from fair skinned to very dark black colour skinned, depending on the region and climate of that region, the state from where rajamouli belongs is a place which is a place where people of dark skinned people belongs, which is the southern part of India,in India people don't discriminate according to colour, bcoz we got all the colours , especially from the region from wher rajamouli comes,it doesn't come to our mind even when we saw the film, even our gods are black skinned, when the people from other country saw it ,they did raise the issue, but honestly i think it's the creative choice of the director to make the two groups of warrior look very different (,contrast)to make it more stylist.or maybe bcoz to make them more evil he gave them black colour ,it's very caartoonish tbh, villains are portrayed with black colour all the world,it's the colour of the evil, like black magic, dake, Vader, even the horror film gives Black colour to the entity represent thecghost or whatever,it's the colour of the evil, the old good vs evil, but believe me,in India colour discrimination isn't a thing, though caste discrimination is a very big thing, but it is diminishing too, maybe after 25 years u wouldn't even know such a thing existed in India hopefully.

They've not darkened the people to "make them look like dark people". Its like their (Kalakeyas) tradition to coverup their bodies with soot or something, they're savages. Its similar to how wrestlers rub their bodies with mud before entering a fight. They aren't a different race. So no need to feel bad about that.

@@scientheist2004 Yup I analysed that, and that's what I think the director is going for. He wants to show them as savages, that's the point. Why, can't there be pure savages in a movie? It is his story, his style to clearly define villains and heroes. You are speaking as if Kalakeya tribe is a real tribe that needs protection from villainous potrayal. No it is entirely fictional. If he represented real tribes like that, then that's a problem.

As you can see the spirit of Rajamouli is evident in these movies, the innovation, the effort to make the story unpredictable, the attempts to wow audience after every 10 minutes, to keep them hooked. He fails sometimes but overall succeeds in fascinating you, with the spectacle. He tries his best to give world class VFX with a fraction of the budget but moves mountains to assemble extras and huge set pieces. MM Keeravani is blessed man, his music is divine. If you listened to Dhivara a couple of more times, you would fall in love with it. I appreciate you guys watching this with an open mind. The battle scene is the highlight of this movie. 2nd one is much better in all aspects. The Bahubali 2 Trailer is another masterpiece. The whole scene of Baahubali undressing Avanthika is the worst part of both the Baahubalis, and the director himself mentioned once that he wished he had approached it differently. The idea there was that he intended Avanthika to be the bridge between Shiva and his mother, the bridge between the 2 worlds. However, the execution definitely wasn't great
Coming to Bhallaladeva or even the negative shades of other characters you'd see in part 2 aren't outrightly damning like RRR, like you rightly perceived. They are much more layered negative traits. Bhalla was someone who always craved the throne, just like his father, but both of them have been sidelined for their younger brothers due to some negative traits they have. While Bhallaladeva's father portrays his anger obviously, Bhallaladeva let's it simmer over time, biding his time for the right moment, kind of like Mufasa in Lion king. He didn't want to be just a ruler, but a king. And only with time, does his evil traits surface up one by one and ends up as the tyrant we see him as at the beginning
You will find some issues with other characters in the conclusion, and that's the reason Baahubali is well loved. Not just the scale, but the way the characters are written and progress. It gives them a very mythological outlook, where we have many characters in the grey, with some good and some evil traits, and they are eventually defined by which traits take dominance.

Guys ...It's actually not the fault of the director..this film was made for just pure entertainment.today's Hollywood movies are filled with identity politics, women need to more powerful than men, representations, in other words WOKE stuffs, this kind of movies were also made in Hollywood back in the day for example the scorpion King etc audiences back then loved that movie, but now it's very rare to see such movies. Today Hollywood is making movies for a very narrow demographic and as a result they are losing touch with reality ...even a non wester viewers like me can see that..hollywood's disgusting WOKE movement has ruined it completely see what they have done to the MCU🤣 you don't always have to show a women powerfull they can also been shown as beautiful...what's wrong with that? Diversity, women empowerment, is good unless its organic, the scene of avantika in bahubali shows her Fierce side as well as her beauty side..which we find a perfect balanced, and the role of shivgami Devi is cherry 🍒 on the top for women empowerment..try broaden you perspective, Indian movies are not Hollywood movies, the way we express ourself in movies are very different from Hollywood..

There is a company in INDIA which makes these WAR equipments and armors such kind of stuff
Also the KALAKEYAs are in black just because they dont have a proper KINGDOM like MAHISHMATI and hence they live outside under the sun and obviously got heavily tanned.... And the budget isn't like any Hollywood movie but this movie had a budget of 1/10th of what movies are made in west
ANd the relationship between Mahendra Bahubali (SHIVU or Sivudu in original) and AVANTIKA is not weird at all
Because Amarendra Bahubali ( The father) lived a prince life and know how to behave like a PRINCE or more likely like a KING but the SON (Mahendra BAhubali) is more wild not have proper education like his father had and he never saw a beautiful woman in his life and thats how it is in old times.... DO u really think there is love in Game of THrones and 300 ?? kind of movies or TV shows ??
No right ?? They fuck fuck and fuck
But here SON (Mahendra Bahubali) lived with such kind of people who doesn't know the world outside... They live like a FROG in a well....
As well as with AVANTIKA.... SHe lived a wild life not a princess life and no one ever tried to impress her like Mahendra Bahubali climbing the mountain just for her..... Ofcourse any woman would be impressed.... And the stripping is done just because to make her body clean and dress her like a woman not like she used to be like a boy.... ANd he made her to look her beauty and made her to love herself......
That stripping is not like very inappropriate though cause many people (outside INDIA wear even shorter dresses in their daily life than what AVANTIKA looked when she was stripped)
And he used natural berries to give her a makeup.....
And ofcourse even after stripping her she had more clothes than what girls wear at beaches
