There r 2 Tollywoods in India. One is BENGALI language & Other is TELUGU Language from South India. RRR is Telugu language.
    5major Film productions are -
    Bollywood ( Hindi )
    Tollywood ( Telugu )
    Kollywood ( Tamil )
    Sandalwood ( Kannada)
    Mollywood ( Malayalam)
Only Bollywood is based from north india. The rest 4 r from south india. In south india films r like a religion. Hence major story telling & production values comes from south industrys.
Hindi is spoken vastly in India, so lot of foreigners think Indian films r Bollywood, But only hindi language is called Bollywood.

Both Ram and Bheem are modern historical figures as depicted in movies but they are also inspired from ancient historical characteristics of Shri Rama (from Ramayana Era) and Mighty Bheem (from Mahabharat Era) that's the reason why Bheema can lift motorcycle because according to Mahabharat, Bheema can crush mountains and 🐘 with his single punch. And Rama dressed liked that statue (idol from where he gets his 🏹) of ancient Indian Rama. You should read the lyrics of song playing in background music in last forest battle. That score describes the characteristics of both ancient historical figures.❤️❤️

Bollywood- Hindi, Tollywood - Telugu, another Tollywood - Bengali, Mollywood -Malayalam , Marathi, Tamil, kannada, odia , Bhojpuri, Bihari , Assame, northeast etc...
Bollywood is the biggest it's alone 3rd big industry in the world , and Tollywood - Telegu industry has largest film City in the world. All combine Indian film industry is the largest industry in world not Hollywood. Btw this is a Tollywood/ telegu cinema.

  • @Hardik_Beniwal
    @Hardik_Beniwal Год назад +89

The train scene on the river bridge actually gives you the gist of the movie, Ram takes up the flag (if you observe) and Bheem saves up the child - which was their motive right? I mean Bheem was fighting for the child “Malli” and Ram was fighting for his country (thus he holds up the flag)
The characters shown in the last song at the end of the movie are some of the prominent Indian Freedom Fighters who fought against the British Colonial Empire.
Also, the Character adopted by Ram when he adopted the bone and arrow avatar is inspired from Hindu God Rama, you can see the similar portrayal of God Rama in Hindu epic “Ramayana”. Plus point - The name of God Rama’s wife is also Sita (a hindu goddess). In the Ramayana, Sita is Captured by an evil person Ravana, and Lord Hanuman (the greatest devotee of God Rama) went out in search of Mother Sita and hands over to her the ring given by God Rama. You can see the similar feature here in the film (but in reversal) when Bheem gives the other half of pendant to Ram.

Hope this movie helped you understand step-by-step how our Indian movies are, also hope that the Bollywood stereotype is shattered as most assume we do movies with musical numbers (that most see as a detriment not to watch Indian movies & term Bollywood in a sarcastic way) but the songs integrated here are within the story & that's how we watch movies.
Bollywood is just a name for a language called Hindi in India & it is recognised as it's the biggest industry in India. *Bollywood is not Indian cinema*
This comes from a small state of south india, Andhra Pradesh state in Telugu language.
We hope u liked this movie. Also sorry that you had to watch in that god awful English dub as it was done by Netflix, would recommend you to watch in Telugu but since Netflix owns Hindi language u can check that out instead, the dubbing done in other languages (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi) by the #RRR team is really good.
The fictional tale of these revolutionaries Komuram Bheem & Alluri Sitarama Raju told here is entirely fictional as they never met each other in real life during their unaccounted years (20s), SS Rajamouli the director was inspired by Inglourious basterds (2009) by QT as the ending theatre scene where Hitler dies, inspired him to do a fictional tale in his style & entertain the audience instead of being preachy & serious & make these heroes larger than life & people to celebrate them.

Small info. Culturally, India is divided into North India and South India. For example, east coast vs west coast people in America or the Texas people vs California people. They have different opinions and culture. But that same difference is 1000 times huge here in North and South India. North India has more population and they mostly speak Hindi and Bengali languages. The North India population is around 700 million people. South India population is around 300 million. Hence whenever a western guy hears a Indian movie,,they will assume it is an bollywood film.
But in reality,, Apart from Bollywood film industry,, there are several other film industries.
There are 28 different states in India. Each state speaks their own regional language. North India has around 20 states,,out of which most people speak Hindi, Bengali,Sanskrit,Punjabi, bihari, Gujarati languages.
But Hindi language is predominantly spoken by almost all of that 20 states and the primary hub for movie making is located in MUMBAI city. Hence the Hindi speaking movies are mostly called Bollywood.
But there are many dialects in Hindi language like Gujarati, marati, etc which are spoken in Gujarat state. But as these movies are produced with the influence of Bollywood. Hence Gujarati films are also sometimes called as Bollywood movies.
If a movie comes from Bengal state with Bengali language,,,it is most likely to be produced by bengal people have their own film industry, which is Bengalwood.
Okay,,coming to the main issue here,,bear with me.
Until now I have spoken the basic thing about north Indian film industry (Bollywood, Bengalwood etc).
Now it's time to talk about South Indian movies. South India has only 5 states. They have their own film industries and they are also very proud to have their own language speaking film industries. Those industries are :
    1. Kollywood
Films from Tamilnadu State. Here people speak Tamil language.
    2. Tollywood
Films from Andhra and Telungana States. People here speak Telugu language.
RRR movie comes from this industry.
    3. Mollywood
Films from Kerela State. People here speak Malayalam language.
    4. Sandalwood
Films from Karnataka state. People here speak kannada language. Karnataka state has many sandalwood trees. Hence the name for their industry.
Both North India And South India people are united as Indians. But we have our own values and culture and they are mostly displayed in art form(movies, dance, festivals etc)
North India, ie., Bollywood used to produce good movies in the past. But now most of those movies produced in Bollywood are not respecting their culture and creating garbage movies or coping Hollywood movies and remaking them. I am not saying all movies are like that,,but most of them are.
    Enter South Indian Movies.
They have full potential and you can see that clearly in RRR movie. They are making great films while also being true to their belief and not insulting any religion or culture.
Kollywood movies are the pioneer of South Indian cinema,,and many great movies are there for you to watch from here on.
Whatever memes you are seeing about Indian movies in America,,(like cheesy action scenes or goofy scenes etc) they are mostly made up on Bollywood. South Indian movies also has many goofy scenes but mainly due to budget constraints for VFX, etc,,,But their creativity is unmatched by Bollywood till now.
If you enjoy RRR, I would suggest you to see other epic films produced by the same director SS Rajamouli like:
    1.Eega (2012)
    2. Baahubali Beginning (2015)
    3. Baahubali Conclusion (2017)
Must match those two Baahubali movies (they are equally as epic as RRR). They set the benchmark to break the 4th wall to reach the western audience.
    Other great Indian movies are:
    1. Drishyam - Crime suspence movie
    2. KGF part 1 and 2 - Action movie
    3. Andhadhun - Crime suspence movie
    4. Vikram Vedha - Crime action movie
    5. I movie (2015) - Action thriller movie directed by Shankar
    6. Raatchasan - Crime Thriller Detective movie.
Many other films like atleast 100 more movies are there. But I would ask you to pick up good movies by doing background check.
Unlike Bollywood,,,,Kollywood and tollywood has less recources. But over the years, this limitation made them stronger as they managed to use those resources more effectively than Bollywood.
Last but not least, pls check out the wikipedia page for the movie title. Almost all details will be provided there. Western audience will normally think that any movie coming out from India is Bollywood movie. But it's not the case. If Bollywood produces 1000 movies a year,,, kollywood produces 250 movies,,tollywood produces 400 movies,,mollywood produces 100 movies and sandalwood produces 200 movies.
Even though the numbers are low,, they provide highest creativity,,great epic action scenes,,reflect their culture,,,emotions etc

To answer your question: "A sign from gods or something?"
Yes Ram and Bheem are teo Hinduism gods, Bheem is vayuputra - vayu means wind, putra means son, wind gods son, so when he was taking a beating his father carrasses him in the form of wind, which what that leaf carrassing Bheem's cheek symbolises.
I can post all the symbolism I noticed from the movie, over here, if you want.

what statue you saw in last is our hindu god lord ram , And in last Raju looks like him and dressed like him
In fact Lord Hanuman was a devotee of Lord Rama and they both were friends for each other and could do anything for each other. This movie is based on our Hindu epic Ramayana, which is the story of Lord Rama. And this film has been made by looking at the modern touch and here Raju is playing the role of Lord Rama, whose full name was Rama Raju. And Bheem has become Lord Hanuman and Lord Rama's wife was Sita, who is also Raju's girlfriend in this film.
Lord Ram was the king of the people and very learned and very brave and brave among the brevest। But lord Hanuman is said to be the god of strength as Bhima is also shown in this film but at the same time Lord Hanuman worshiped Lord Rama and considered him as his Guru and God

There are myriad of regions why locals were recruited to serve British. But for many, they were poor, to some it doesnt matter who is in charge as long as they get to feed their family, some just want to defend their homeland from horrors of more invasions or lawlessness, some wanted to show their loyalty so their regions would be treated kindly, some were even just loyal soldiers
Even during World War 2, millions of indians were recruited and sent to their deaths for promises that werent kept, it was also a time of great famine and all the food was still sent towards war efforts, for many the choice was again between join to just eat food or starve with millions. Maybe even provide for their family.
British empire wouldnt have lasted long if they didnt use local people to serve them. Its one of the main things Gandhi sought to exploit. He knew that indians didnt even have to fight in traditional sense to win their freedom, they just have to stop cooperating

There are many "hoods" like Hollywood based on Indian Languages and regions.
Nearly 98% of all Indian movies are 2.5~ 3 hours long.
And there are more or less 2~3 songs, and dance numbers in 90% of Indian movies.
The dub was ok I guess but it would have been better if was in the original language. The emotions might have gone deeper with the original dialogues. But I guess you got all the right points across.
    So, it is a win.

Variety did an excellent interview with the two leads the other day. It's crazy when you hear all the stuff they went through.
Other videos to watch would be Patrick Willem's which was the first thing I saw when it released on Netflix. It explains so much of the industries there in India.
Corridor Crew also did a great VFX breakdown and the Honest Trailers video was fun too. (If you go down the RUclips rabbit hole, stuff from Chris Gore is not to be missed either along with all the recent interviews post Golden Globes.)

@@Flix2Us IF you plan to go down the rabbit hole, my personal experience and current recommendations fresh from an RRR first time viewing would be in this order:
SS Ramajouli's earlier movies: (he pretty much works with same team, dad writer, cousin MM Keeravaani composer, etc.)
      1) Magadheera (I found one that's Vietnamese/English subs, or via a site starting with Ein and ending with thusan) - Ram Charan's second movie and first collaboration with SSR in 2009. Half contemporary half historical epic. Lots of inside jokes for the audience it was directed to. I finally get the Chiranjeevi jokes now.I totally love this movie especially after seeing a painful side by side to a later Bengali remake.
      2) Eega (currently on Netflix) - guy gets reincarnated as a fly to get his revenge. Don't look at the trailer lol.
      3) Baahubali 1 and 2 (Tamil version will work since it was filmed in but Telugu and Tamil, avoid the English dub.)
Other Telugu movie to start out with to sort of reset your brain from trying to compare (and fail) the RRR/SS Ramajouli experience to:
      - Ala Vaikunthapurramulo (Netflix. Just a random fun movie, has all the masala signature formula of most Telugu films, the action scenes remind me of Kung Fu Hustle goodness. The music is very memorable too. (Lead's also stupidly famous in the Telugu industry, cousin to Ram Charan (Raju). Once you're used to Allu Arjun then you'll appreciate his big movie Pushpa more. Otherwise we be all: who's that scruffy dude? Typical South cinema over the top I'm super cool and badass in slow mo is expected.
So much is out there and I've learned a lot about the many industries and their film characteristics in the last few months. I've also learned about Playback Singers and the fact that the actors themselves rarely sing.
RRR was truly something else and until we see what SSR comes out with next, if it's the only Indian movie you watch, it'll be fine. Formula is generic but the way he puts it together and all the way he's so good at the evoking the emotions and attention to detail is magic and you can see how he constantly evolves. (Still, if you guys are into it, the country has soooo much out there and it's truly a refreshing change.)
