Yes, it plugs and plays with DSP cars.

Is the procedure different for pre-lci E38s with DSP Option from factory?

Pre-LCI cars were not wired for the I-Bus CD Changer, so you need to tap one of three many I-Bus wires as well as power and ground. There are “plug and play” options I can offer but the fact of the matter is you will end up needing to tap an I-Bus wire
