- Day 2 at the Dakar Rally 2024 and I promise you: IT'S UNREAL!!! I left Shubaytah for the famous Empty Quarter of Saudi Arabia. The 48-hour special race is happening there and I'm so motivated to attend the motorsport event...from very close again. I can spot the TV and media trucks parked in front of a military fenced area, right in the desert of the Empty Quarter. I ask the staff of the Dakar and they allow me to penetrate inside. The Saudi police stops me to finally encourage me to drive up into the orange dunes. I go for a crazy off-road ride through the dunes and get badly stuck. I wanted to drive into the hole of a dune and it didn't work as planned. Anyway, I put my Toyota Hilux in low range and off I climb the dune again to get back on the main tracks. With JB, we meet the assistant team of the Dakar rally and spend a few hours with them. But what follows is crazy: to rescue a Dakar vehicle, their assistance trucks got stuck...The day after, I'm literally front row to watch the 48-hour special race final from...the roof of my car! And to finish the sensational and epic day at the iconic worldwide rally, I join the staff at the finish line and get a few nice interview of the Dakar pilots. Anyways, watch the episode, I promise you a very nice and rock'n'roll moment from inside the Dakar Rally!

... oh but that assistance truck WAS stuck!!! It was so scary when the tow-rope snapped!!! (JB couldn't resist wondering if the truck-guy had been in neutral too!! 🤣🤣🤣) But WHY did the truck pilot drive down into that bowl in the forts place?!?! 🤷🏻♂️

Ah, and of course we now have real video evidence now of you and Rafiki crossing the finish line of the Dakar 👏👏👏🎉🥳🍾 (I have never seen Rafiki fly along at almost 40km per hour before 😲👏👏👏)

nice. Been watching the series with interest. I have the same Hilux.. but double cab. I go back to Ukraine soon to take more animal aid down to Kherson.. spend time there and go further east. And then back to England after a month or 2. I was last there in the hot late summer... I would love drive that is more of a vacation than a trip being shelled each day by the Russians but cats and dogs etc need help. Maybe one day i get a long drive trip that is fun vacation
