- A simple and straightforward tutorial about how to start a Cessna C172P in Flightgear. Although several of these exist, I think it makes sense to do an updated one. Let me know if there are any other tutorials or types of videos you would like to see!

it isn't a bug, Propeller aircrafts have the tendency to turn in real life (left in this case)

You have to use the pedals by your feet for direction on the ground. On the keyboard it's Enter for right and Insert for left.
@@jayjakey thanks for your *useful* comment. My set-up is nothing more than a gaming laptop and a mouse. If I'm right the pedals control the rudder, No?

How do I sit higher in the cockpit so I can see the runway and the instruments ? I feel I need a booster seat to sit higher.

Hi, great video, have you ever experienced an issue with FlightGear where the plane loads up at the airport and looks to be stuck in the ground and won't move anywhere even when the chocks are removed?
+James Collins no, not that I can remember. Perhaps go under the location menu and select position aircraft and enter a number like 10 or 100 under altitude and see what that does. If that doesn't work then try the forums, they are always very helpful

dont have any oil pressure in my cessna. And I couldnt found any settings/knob to change it. Checklist says must be green in 30s ... but its dead and I dont know why🙄
Hmmm. Just spent some time playing around with it and I don't think you need to worry about it. Mine was doing that too however it did go up when pushed it to full throttle. I have noticed several other planes have that same sort of system where you need engine RPM for oil pressure to be in the green. Let me know if you find anything interesting and hope this helps!
its a naterall thing it happens in real life its because the air outside is sluggish and the airplane needs to catch up thats all

I think a good video for us beginners is how to taxi to runway after having started the engine. The plane will continue to turn unless it gets airleron and rudder input from the pilot. Lots of folks do not know that and/or know it but do not know how to implement the inputs correctly. Thanks.

Hey - this video is good, but be wary of talking to yourself. You assume a lot more knowledge that the viewer might not have (the controls for how you took-off, and how you talk to yourself quickly, which means the viewer misses a lot). Talk more through how you are getting the panels up (i.e. the checklist) how you hide the yoke and then take control of the peddals. Just a suggestion if you think of making more.

when I try to start the engine, It says "flooded engine" even though I am on land
I believe that is because you flooded the engine with fuel. Would recommend trying autostart (just don't touch anything till 30 seconds after it is started) and see if that works. Might be worth looking into the forums to see their opinion, they have a lot more experience than me.
Iit means you have primed the engine to many times

Maybe try turn off clouds or make them 2d and turn some of the graphic settings down
Good video. The rpm is in hundreds. So 20 means 'two thousand' rpm.

How do I get to the checklist?
You have made some errors. First off there is NO Pilot Heat, it is PITOT Hear for the Pitot tube which is where your airspeed indicator senses the airspeed. You set your altimeter to 0 feet which is WRONG! Your altitude is above sea level and you are not zero feet above sea level or you would be rather wet. You set your altitude to above ground level which is Wrong thing to do.

There is auto start on the Cessna, it should just be a menu option on the top under Cessna 172 along with the checklist under help I believe

use the arrows to steer and PgUp/PgDown for trottle. press H to see the HUD, that helps to steer more precise

I flooded my darn engine
this video is not good it fails to explain how to get a check list, it fails to say how to get out it fails to use words, blah blah blah does not help - useless mumbled and not explaining anything
