I was thrilled when this movie won Best Picture. Not only is it full of outstanding performances but it is a love letter to excellent, meticulous, get it right/not first print journalism.
This Movie...the investigation by the Boston Globe... THANK YOU for ANSWERING 30 YEARS of Questioning. Your EXEMPLARY REPORTING and making this movie has helped in so many ways!!
Me too from the priest of my childhood church as well for years i didnt say anything because everyone loved him and thought he was the man around town so i knew everyone would believe him but then another family came at him one day in the middle of church for molesting theyre son so i stood up and came out with what happened to me from him toom he was on rhe alter preaching so he was in front of everybody and after i stood up and was the second kid he was being accused of raping everyone in there turned against him and held him there til the cops got there. It was hard for a lot of the people there cause they had known him for 40+ years and thought he was a great guy and his wife was there and broke down screaming and crying because she didn't know but i dont feel bad at all for that piece of crap.
@ 2:46 The uncredited voice of Richard Jenkins, as Richard Sipe. Fantastic actor (as you can hear). Has been in many films, but most viewers don't recognize him. No one mentions his formidable presence in this incredible film. Spread the word.
@@jujijiju6929 Such an unbelievably well acted film that was. Jenkins is one of those character actors with gravitas, plus he's good with comedy too. A bit part as a hit man in Absolute Power was the first time I found him memorable, and being that guy and the dad from StepBrothers is quite a range.
They should have asked how many catholic churches there are in Boston. I believe there’s about 300 churches. 90 priests is just ten shy of a hundred which would be close to a third of these churches.
In the pivotal "six percent" dolly shot, if you look at the bottom left corner of the screen (3:23 -3:40), that's where the dolly tracks would be digitally masked out (The crude pixel resolution of the table corner may be the fault of RUclips, who knows).
Well the time constraints are unethical but what also concerns me is the reports of how many assault victims are just degraded and dismissed when they do report in a timely fashion. If parent had concerns for instance likely children and concerned parent are ignored or not considered credible. It shouldn't be just a financial issue either predators should fear criminal convictions losing their jobs jail time etc. There is not enough deterrents in society. If it's six percent of priests what is it for the general population more or less?

He's in a lot of good movies though....I remember him from the Brad Pitt movie 'Killing them Softly'. He was great in it!
He featured as the protagonist in Tom McCarthy's earlier movie (before Spotlight) The Visitor. He was so darn good in it. Understated brilliance.

Best compilation, thanks a lot for this. And really appreciate that there was no background music. This was a groundbreaking movie.
Jag har under ca 70 år hunnit se massor av film. Den här är topp 10 av allt jag sett - SÅ angelägen och SÅ skarpt gestaltad!
