Thank you Marion. You are an inspiration in staying positive which is just what I needed to hear. My partner Jack has dementia and we are on our own in terms of support. I’m still have 10 yrs until retirement so caring and working full time are hard. Listening to these videos are a great help and certainly give me so much information. Im in the uk and have only been told Jack has dementia without knowing which sort. The meds available on nhs made his very anxious so he is not medicated now. Considering an anti anxiety drug to calm him. Good luck and thank you

Marion, my story is much like yours. A nurse by profession with a contractor husband with MCI and now Dementia. Having to find people to fix things that he always did. Taking away driver’s license and learning to control my voice and facial expressions to avoid conflict. He always shopped and cooked, that now falls on me. I have been watching Care Blazers for about a year to teach me the skills to proceed. Hearing your story let’s me know that I am not alone! Thank you for sharing!

Marion, I just listened to you sharing with our sweet Careblazer Doctor. I can't tell you how much I needed to hear this. My LO has LBD and I won't leave him more than a few minutes. I realized that I need to smile more, I lost it along this crazy journey. Blessings 😊

Thank you Marion for sharing your story! We are 10 years into this and my hubby has had a very very slow progression of Alzheimer's for which I'm thankful for. It's helpful to hear others' stories and also your trust in God. From the beginning He has made it clear to me that He is my helper and will never leave me or forsake me.

What an angel! Marion does not realize how amazing her journey has been. She is curious, open and adaptive to all the changes going on with Andy. Love her perspective.

I'm eight years into taking care of my 82 yo husband with dementia. It is very slow moving so I'm grateful for that and how mellow he is. I didn't have any trouble getting him to retire or to stop driving. I do have a some bitterness in that physically he is in perfect shape. He even breezed thru his eye exam today. We could have spent all of this time camping and seeing our country.
It is hard on me in that I do everything. We had a really wonderful partnership in our marriage with a fair division of labor so it's been stressful doing everything, taking care of him and myself.

I so relate to your post. At 87, my husband is still in pretty good shape, and I so wish we were able to go and do more. I am 70 look and feel younger, and in excellent health so I feel very tied down by this. As far as doing everything, I do , although he will hand wash dishes and carpet sweep. I have learned not to let the small stuff bother me. Example: the light in the ceiling fan is out. I’ll get to it. In the meantime the lamp works fine. He is also mellow and appreciative of me and tells me repeatedly. It helps, but after a while I don’t know what to say back anymore! I have turned to Gd during this illness of 9 years, and that definitely helps. We were true partners, and not having that is hard.
I just want to have him back so we can go have fun together.

I am thankful that we downsized from a big home to a townhome right before we discovered my husband's dementia dx. That gave me less to take care of on my own😊

Marion, thank you for sharing your journey with your HWD. I can relate to much of what you shared. And thank you, Dr. Natalie for offering another wonderful story of love, compassion and caregiving. 💞
My H was “diagnosed” with dementia by his PCP with a similar paper test and outcome. H is in denial and does not recall ever being told that. When I later asked what could we do/should we consult a neurologist or
how can I help him …the answer was astonishing: well, there isn’t much , but one thing you need to know is that this will be progressive .. it will get worse. !!!!!
So very sad that family practice doctors are not equipped to help.
Thank you again for every video, every lesson you so generously offer, Dr. Natalie. ❤

Cling to him as he will be gone all of a sudden. Be joyous in the time you have left and don't dwell on the small stuff. You are obvious a loving partner and are a true warrior in your journey to comfort and love him, When it's time, the Lord will take over.

So familiar and I loved your comment on how sweet he is. My hubby too but he was not sweet before and all of a sudden he got really sweet. I wondered if he realized how vulnerable he had become. thx for comment about hard to adjust and neg feelings. I am struggling with that too. You were very helpful, Marion. I admire you.

Go with the flow is great. My mom asked me to call her mom, my grandmother, who passed 15 years ago and tell her where she was for safety. I just said "you got it. I'll let her know." It was a good moment with no flare up. Go with the flow.

Thank you for sharing Marion’s story. It is also similar to mine, except my HWAD is 71 yo. My HWAD was such a handyman and now like Marion I have to get someone in for anything I can’t fix. I do the shopping (he too did the grocery shopping and cooking in the past) so now I do it all! I like the idea of a monthly list of to do chores. My HWAD is on Exelon patches and I have made an appointment to review this medication with the Geriatrician due to the side effects. I agree your courses and You Tube Videos are so beneficial. After completing the 14 day challenge I have just signed up for the Careblazers Care Course,. I have researched a lot as well which is how I found you, Dr Natali. I agree Health Professionals do not always have the answers for us.

Thank you so much for sharing Marion. I related to a lot of what you said! And yes, God is helping us too, VERY much! I was a nurse as well, my folks live with us, and my Dad also has Alzheimer's. My husband, who was Dx'd 2 years ago, are 61😟.

I too learned a lot from watching Careblazers videos and I too look to God for the strength and help to show me how best to take care of my husband.

My spouse was recently diagnosed with moderate dementia. He is 79 and I am 69. I take care of him. He can still do some things like writing checks and trying to balance the check book. He also says memory is bad and it's old age..etc..I know it's the dementia but he says it's because he has so much on his mind and so many things to take care of. I'm also dealing with his Temper flares and getting him to take a shower.

Hi, I just wanted to say that you and your husband's health journey that your not alone. I am 57 my husband is 60. We both have severe autoimmune diseases. It takes all our strength and energy to just get through the day. We mostly take care of ourselves and not each other. You can do this, find your social support as well as any family or friends. Ask for help when it's needed, like someone bringing you a meal or coming by for a cup of coffee. Marion's story gave me a bit of a boost saying
      "I got this" 😊👍

I am so thankful that I live in a state that accepted Medicaid. My partner recently was enrolled in a program administered by Sisters of Providence. It offers 20 hours of home help It also has a adult care program. All paid by the state and federal government. There is some relief for us. I finally have someplace to turn to when we are in crisis.
