so pleased i found this. This is my next project. Since my husband passed woodwork has been my thing just love making things. Your video is easy to follow and you sound very relaxed. Thank you.
I've watched quite a few online tutorials. I thought you did an excellent job explaining every step. I am going to be making at least one of these. I'll be watching this as I complete them.
I was looking for videos on how to build the stove cover taller my knobs are on the right side of my stove top and the burners stick up and your video helped ... Thank You!
I made a few of these for Christmas gifts this year. Check your home depot for S1S2E 1x boards. One side and 2 edges are as smooth as an appearance board. The other side still has the bandsaw marks. You can save some money on projects that a rough side can be concealed. Locally it is $3-5 less per 8 foot board compared to the equivalent appearance board.
Yes!! I watched the video you made on flat top cover and I loved it BUT I have a gas range that isn’t flat. This is exactly what I needed!! Great work. Your pieces are beautiful! 👍🏻
Thanks for this update. This is what I need to make one for our stove. The only thing I am doing differently is I glued up the 1x6 boards as well because I want to make sure they are all nice and tight without any gaps . I then use a bunch of clamps everywhere to make sure everything is as straight as possible. I am in the middle of the build. You are right that these boards are a little cupped which is why I glue it all up and clamp it. I will probably still have to sand in places to make it all smooth and straight. Thanks!!!!
The glue was problematic because of squeeze out. What a mess. Doesn't look bad but I am thinking the next one will be without glue. What do you think of attaching the boards with pocket holes? Just a thought.
@@jg1007 I clamped mine into my wooden flag jig and nailed the slats to the runners from there. Made a tight fit and took less time that dealing with pocket holes.
I hit the like button as soon as I heard the accent! Lol, I love it and the video is awesome (and seems simple enough)...! Great instructions, thank you!!
You always build very nice things that are practical for almost every home! I love your style of woodwork. Maybe even something I might try to build for my home ✅👍
You should make yourself a Lazy Susan to stain or paint on. I did. It helps so you don't have to hold on to it while your staining or painting just spin it around.
Great Video... I subscribed... I have a customer wanting one but she lives out of state... Can you tell me do you ever ship and if so do you have a video on how you ship these like how you package them... I just want to find the best price for shipping for her? Thanks for making your videos💖
Excellent tutorial!!! Hi. Great question - same issue here. My next step will be to take my stove top cover to my post office and ask them to weigh it and give some suggestions on packaging. I don’t have a shipping scale yet.
Hello love ur video!!! I am curious as I have built two of these now (other version) but they do not sit level - there is a bit of rocking - what am I doing wrong- is it just my wood choice?
heather sutton It could be the Wood. Sometimes the moisture in the home will cause the wood to shrink and swell which will warp them. Place some felt on the bottom to even out the gap so it won’t wobble.
I made the stencil with my silhouette cameo out of a piece of vinyl. Placed it on the wood then painted it with acrylic craft paint. Once it was almost dry I removed the vinyl stencil.
Could you provide the link or the name of your buddy that makes the stencil for you? I’m looking forward to making my own following your videos but I don’t have one of those fancy machines to make the stencil. Thank you
Thanks for making this... I'm a fairly new wood routered sign maker and have been wanting to make one of these...Your instructions was so easy to follow... I liked & subscribed 😊 #GIGISCUSTOMWOODSIGNS
Thanks po po. Now, my grandmaw has a wall oven. She wants one of these for that. Could you do a third video on how to build that and attach it to the front of the oven?
Get them to cut it to the width of your stove. Just make sure you measure the “actual” width of the wood to make sure the 4 boards will come up to the length you need. Then get them to cut the 2 smaller pieces where the handles go to the proper length of your 4 boards combined. Sometimes a 6inch board is actually 5 1/2 or 5 1/4. So I’d definitely measure first before I get them to cut it.
Austin St. Laurent No, I only glue the 2 boards that run front to back on the cover. I have made a few and haven’t had an issue not gluing the big boards together.
Milagros Arango I use a synthetic brush, like the ones family dollar and dollar general sell....and apply the first coat. Once it dries I lightly hand sand with 220 grit sand paper and apply the final coat. I only use 2 coats on these but the more you do the thicker it will be. Also yes, I used the same size brad nails on the entire build.
i know this is a super old video but can somebody write me the EXACT measurements i don’t know a saw and have to get it cut by a friend and just don’t want to mess it up! thank you in advance 😭
Mehgan Harris ...buy a 1x6x12. Lowe’s will cut it into (4)30” boards for you, free. You will have a leftover piece abt 24” left. You will use this for the the vertical sides. I made mine 30”, that’s the standard for electric stoves and usually 22” deep. Cut that leftover that leftover piece to 22” or the depth of your boards, which is best. Then split down the middle or I used 2 5/8” attach to both sides with staple from the bottom. Use wood glue and a few clamps. Follow the steps he shows, if u have burners. Electric stoves don’t need the bottom supports. I just finished making mine. Turned out great. Using a stencil for some designs...Good luck
U could've just said drill a board on the outside on the bottom thats a inch and a quarter high on each side. 😏 of course I only said that because u already showed the one video for flat burners.
I was wondering how you got started in selling the stuff things you make? Because I'm interested in selling a few wood items that I been wanting to make and sell. I have a few ideas on how to start, but not a 100% sure how to go about how to start selling them.
Joshua Bratton I actually started building things for myself and around the house first. I figured why buy when I can build it. Then with the wonderful world of social media, I’d post my builds on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and so on. When people saw the items they wanted me to build it for them. Then the word of mouth started and it kinda snowballed from there. I don’t have a fancy website or store. I mainly do all my builds for people that have heard of me or seen items on social media. Mine kinda happened by accident lol. Trust me, once you start making things people like, you won’t need a website. You’ll have more builds than time to build them! My RUclips channel started because people wanted to see their items get built from scratch, plus I could go back and use my videos to do a rebuild and have all my steps laid out.....Good luck!!

Nice. Make regular boards. Have not tried for gas ranges yet thanks for the simplified explanation
Love your brand you stamp on the back. May I ask where you got it?
Gearheart Industry. They can make your custom logos and have a pretty quick turn around.

Agree and while the glue has not dried clamp it all together so that you won't have any gaps like this one has but a good Project for beginners

Poly is a great clear protectant. It will make it shine bright like a diamond. LoL Just make sure you don’t get the yellowing one.

Hi ! How do you pack these to ship if you had to ship them?
Very nice! I do craft shows and want to make some American flags! Would love to see your flags if possible! Thanks!
What is the measurements for the top side peices is it 1x4×1 22in
Yes the top 2 pieces are 1x4x22
Why didn’t my 22 in fit the length of 4 boards I got them cut at home deport
Not sure unless their boards were a different size from the mill. Like a 6 inch board isn’t really 6 inches, it’s like 5 3/4 or 5 1/2 inches wide
It’s the same at menards

Will this work for a gas stove top?
Yes, you will just have to make the sides deep enough to clear the height of the gas burners.
Its 22 inches long but 4 6inches is 24 ?
Am I missing something? I want to make it today
A 6” board is never 6 inches. When you buy a 1”x6” board your getting an actual size of 3/4”x5 1/2”.
So 4 boards at 5.5 inches is 22”
Wish you had put measurements info under the video because I’m deaf and I cannot understand what you’re saying.

Can't believe you don't glue each board to the other. It will probably warp down the road or start bowing on each board
