Pinnies are superb pieces of Steyr engineering with proper “out of the box” thinking in the drivetrain. I’ve had a Hafi - so, a “mini Pinnie” 😄 & was bowled over by the ingenuity. Looking forward to this series - good luck !

Clean it, fix it properly, and it will never owe you money. These things appreciate in value as fast as a falling airplane. I expect it to be impossible to buy one in a few years.

Besides the rust it's pretty good! just needs a brake line fixed :)

Haha yeah! BC was the best 😁 definitely impressive amount of rust even for someone used to Quebec corrosion..

I spy an original mini in the background. What’s the story with that?
It’s set up as a race car :) just haven’t had time to deal with it and also needs to be trailered! So need a trailer..
Ex Brit Military? Loads of green paint as well as red, Our paras have these for towing guns, in 6x6 and 4x4, later ones have a VW 1.9tdi same or very similar to your RR.

No the dont....the diesels had a 2.4 td 6cyl ( p80 mod.) , a 2.4 tdi 6cyl ( p90 and p93 mod ) and the verry late p93 had the 2.5 tdi 5 cyl . This one is the early version and has the flat inline 4 cyl petrol aircooled with 2 zenith carbs.

I wonder if they make an efi conversion kit for it? I just dropped one in my 75 gmc c25 with the 454. Drives soooo much better.
That would be really cool! especially for places with a lot of temperature changes like here

Nice project, how old id it? I'm surprised its got so much rust bearing in mind its built for your sort of conditions. What are your plans, straight rebuild or something more radical?
No idea on the year, but plan is to make a tuff little work truck for landscaping! Flat deck, winch and updating lights and stuff

6:28 anybody who runs a Pinzgauer in neutral with hand throttle high rpm should not be working on this truck
It will be worth $$$$$$ 🤑🤑🤑 when restored if that’s the plan. Lucky at the end there Ludy. 😱 You would have cried if the RR doors had been damaged. Lucky Dad too, because he would have paid for it. 👍🏻😷🙏🏽🦘
Yeah it’s still going to be a work truck so once fixed up it’s likely going to get beat up again ;) But yeah close call 😂
