Adelaide Oval. The home of questionable umpiring decisions.
and it never happens to victorian teams

The umps come with nails & crosses
Where's dissent been for every other game, it's been missing until the last 20 secs , disgraceful
Is Robbo just there for comic value?
he seems to ramble without substance quite often
Robo is unhinged. Whately sanctimonious. 360 is not worth watching.

If so, he's doing well because that's why I watch haha. Nah I like his passion, and yes I think he's a bit too close to losing his head much of the time.
This is not dissent it is a complete overreach and a continuation of the umpires hijacking the game and the AFL promoting the whole thing what happened to a good game being when you don't notice the umpire they have now become an overreach and are out of control
We all come and watch for the Umps... or so they all think! 🙃
Got all the hallmarks of corruption
Will be interested to see Robo’s take on things when this happens to a VFL team. Somehow I don’t think “let’s just move on” will be his words then…
Yeah lol, I’m not one for screaming vicbias or calling conspiracy.
But 100% if this happened to Robbo’s darling Bombers he’d be up in arms demanding AFL accountability and a review system or captains call to be implemented.
He’s only be in uproar if it happened to Essendon.
VFL team?, thats the seconds mate. No one cares much about that anymore.
@@iankearns774 Pretty sure it was a crack at the vics ian.
@@iankearns774 he meant any team not in Melbourne, Any team in the AFL who isn't in Melbourne is called an interstate team, which is extremely weird for a national competion don't you think?
Absolute rubbish that umpires can influence the game by "gifting" a goal to a particular team. The dissent occurs during the pause in play and the ball was on its way back to the centre, did not infringe on Carlton at all so why should they benefit? Just send the bloke a fine during the week for abusing the ump and ball it up.
The other I'd like to see gone is the umps choosing when a team gets paid advantage after a free kick. What a joke that they can pay "no advantage" to a team and call the ball back or on the flip side, pay it when it's not there...
Yeah should be a fine. Or it should just be a free to the ruckman in the center.
What are you talking about, umpires influence games every week by gifting goals. We should know, 5 Richmond goals out of their first 7 against us were gifts, & kept them in the game.
Get back to us when you finally learn something about footy, princess. Umpires have been f**king decisions up for over 100 years. Get used to it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
But 6 of freos 9 goals came from free kicks,...that is the game😳 Also, a freo player kicked the ball out on the full in Carlton forward 50 and should of been a kick at goal, but that one was missed🙄 Carlton also had 23 scoring shots to freos 19😜
When Adelaide missed out on finals last season Gerard was taking aim at the AFL, labelling it an insult, and said they needed to sort it out. He even invoked the NHL system of reviewing everything in the last 2 minutes to make sure that "what truly happened would have been there."
score review different to introducing an on field review. and they did improve the goalline camera
One was a genuine mistake from the umpires, the other was an umpire being completely wrong and not using the technology that should've always been used in that scenario
Slobbo needs to be at his AA meeting get him off the air it’s embarrassing.
It's also been revealed in audio that the umpire didn't hear anything. He says to Alex Pierce, I didn't hear anything so umpire Whetton made it up..... So he admitted on the field that he didn't hear anything. He didn't hear what was said he's paid the Centre kick because he's heard a swear word but the swear word he didn't know it was directed at him. He didn't even hear what was said so you've never got umpires just making stuff up.... It is the worst decision in the history of the game that I've seen. The ball was touched twice, actually three times you got four umpires out there that could not see that and then you've got an empire making up a dissent call that he didn't hear. why do I come to the conclusion that this game was rigged? Why do I suddenly come to that conclusion?
Possible you say ,how about 100% rigged bro.😊
If it was rigged, why wasn't the deliberate oob on the full paid to Carlton in its forward line? Why wasn't Curnow paid a free kick in marking contests as he was scragged on most occasions. Why did Freo get 6 goals from free kicks, most dead in front? If the ball was called touched then Cottrell could have handballed to another Carlton player running towards the goal. It was undisciplined play from Freo, the ruckman instead of dropping the ball to his feet and forcing another ball up, hits it to Hewitt. Then, when there was still 40 seconds on the clock, swearing at the umpire, gives up a free dead in front. Poor play, Fremantle only have themselves to blame.
@@blueycarlton De Koning was the designated ruck, but Cripps went up instead, probably just got confused

@@aussieintexas61 touched twice teams don't normally continue to tackle someone if they've caught the ball knowing it was touched
how the maggots can make themselves the centre of attention is beyond me, why he AFL say the umpires missed the touch ball but the dissent was correct, ever consider if they got the 1st call right, the dissent would not have come into play? maybe 5 umpires are required now. Great composure Longmuire, you have much more tolerance than many other coaches.
It’s putrid hey.
There were howlers all night, the Umps had a bad game. At least 5 Freo goals came from dodgy free kicks that could have been called play on. At the end of the day the side trying to win won and the side trying to maintain their meager lead playing safe lost. It is what it is.
5 umpires might be a shout, but also, I think they need to stop being scared to say something, apparently one of the umpires saw it was touched but they didn’t say anything to overrule it.
@@iankearns774Umps have been terrible for every match I've seen this year.
@@gwilkes5325so wait an umpire saw it was touched and the other one paid dissent despite not hearing what the player said. That's absolutely insane it has to be corruption.
And according to Gerard the game is at its best that is ever been! PLEASE!!! Stop insulting people's intelligence. If you want to talk about bums on seats we can agree but everything else it's a bloody joke.
Games in the dump. I’ve genuinely lost so much interest in the game.
I used to watch every match I can only handle 1-2 games a week now.
Freo a bit stiff. I wonder how the Victorian commentators would have adjudicated the umps performance if it had gone the other way and gifted Freo the win?

Robbo has lost it now. By blaming Jackson on this and saying “he shouldn’t have tapped it to the center of the defensive 50” is saying the equivalent of “Adelaide wouldn’t have had the scoring problem in round 22 last year if Ben Keays hadn’t kicked for goal.”
Absolute rubbish thing to say.
How can you blame this on the ruck he has borderline nothing to do with the situation robbo is just sitting there talking out his ass
There’s probably 50 other touched balls over the weekend that were called a mark too lmfao
well mate, this one costed the game, and a chance for the dockers to sit on top of the ladder.
@bencampbell07 If you were one of the umpires, what would you have done in the heat of the moment?
@@bencampbell07 All line-ball decisions can be said to cost a game. It's just that everyone focuses on the last 5 minutes. And that's a problem, especially during the finals, as umpires are too fearful to apply the rules. They won't go out on a limb, and make decisions as if they're half-blind.
@@phillipmarnik You wouldn't believe it, but I do in fact umpire, Claremont district junior football umpires association, in this situation I most likely would've payed the mark, but you never know, there could've been a ball up or maybe another umpire saw the deflection and stepped involve. It's a game were many mistakes take place.
@@phillipmarnik Don’t know, but if it’s a 50/50 touched or a mark, I’m calling the touch, a stoppage is always better than an incorrect call. Carlton could’ve been robbed, but so could’ve Freo, either way, a stoppage is neutral ground, a mark isn’t.
basically proves why either a captain's review, or a player review is needed, where umpires have gotten it wrong so badly, that has potentially altered the outcome of a game, for a professional league, it is nowhere near good enough, we have seen it with the Sydney/Adelaide game last year, the two Adelaide/Collingwood games last season where a players call would have provided the only correct call, a goal for Adelaide, a free to Collingwood in the first game, and the free kick to Adelaide in the second game at the MCG. and how many more have there been that were probably more egregious than those three examples.
the dissent penalty rule is complete nonsense, and should be abolished, as it really isn't worth the ink it was written with.
Problem is the umpires make half a dozen atrocious calls every match and you know the review room will find the worst camera angle and go by that or even 'accidentally' look at the wrong incident which they have done in the score reviews.
Conspiracy to favour Carlton.??!! Maybe.. Happened last year when inconclusive footage of a touched ball to beat melbourne..
That’s right mate dees didn’t kick 9.17, Freo didn’t dominate for 120 minutes and only score 63 points. Did you just jump on the hate train and watch two moments in either game? I’m sorry but both clubs had ample chance to put the game away. The blues had 7 frees to freos 14 at ones point 6 of freos resulting in direct goals - the frees were there but it’s not like the umps were intentionally rigging it against Freo. Dees hit the post 3 times in the semi which would have ended the game. You and all those other conspiracy people are the saddest and biggest soooks I’ve ever seen. Grown men crying because the team they hate is winning 😂 it’s embarrassing

What the problem here is the umpires caught Jordan Clark’s touch of the ball, because the umpire also called play on while the other umpire called a mark. If umpires are in conflict for a decision, why don’t they just convene over that call, and if they can’t agree, ball it up!?
yes jackson screwed up with his hitout so you ask where freo can improve from their mistakes but where are the umps going to improve from this? are they working on a solution so the same issue doesnt happen again
from the comments im presuming the umpires sat down at 3 q time and concocted this win for the blues. at least they did it spectacularly.

Do not turn our game into a technology game and review every captains call. Players and umpires are human and we have to factor in errors
Hell of a lot of human error i'd prefer a game with very minimal amount of mistakes that was the worst officated game i've ever watched, marks have been overturned before so why didn't they in this moment
Its clear the afl wants carlton to make the grandfinal this year. They continually get goals from contentious free kicks every week..
That intro was cinema
Can you imagine the decent rule being applied in the 80's or 90's
Why can´t they show the behind the goals view, to show that it´s not clear. (because it would have been clear, an angle from the ground on the other side showed the ball taking an unnatural curve).
Have a look at the umpire in the background he still jumping about even though the Mark has been taken he knew it was touched he didn't stop so when the kick has been marked, he doesn't stop he knows that it's been touched
Rigged.
Of course it is, they literally had an ex saints player umpiring st kilda game the other week. It’s corrupt as.

Speaking as a Freo fan from Day 1 I was pissed off at the time, but over it by Saturday night. No point going on complaining about something that isn't going to change, ridiculous that people are still complaining on Monday. Sirengate was completely different, very easy to prove that the game had finished and common sense prevailed and we got the 4 points, this one was the umpire missing a touched ball. As for the dissent,I had thought that there hadn't really been many this year, but the rule is still there.
Everything in our game has improved markedly and continues to get better and better except for one aspect - the umpiring. Why on Earth we need four of the fools all trying to out do each other and trying to make a name for themselves defies logic. It's not all that long ago that we only had one and the umpiring was a damn sight better then. The current crop give new meaning to the word "incompetent." If they find it difficult to keep up with the play then let's have two working together in their pretty yellow outfits, but any more is ridiculous.

Whining about losing a game footy while kicking 9.9. I understand Fremantle supporters been annoyed but they also need to understand I am annoyed at other decisions during the game such as Fremantle out of bounds on the full in Carlton forward pocket and the free payed against Mitch McGovern as 2 examples. In such a low scoring contest where goals were hard to come by every decision has an impact.

There's an element of autocracy with umpires enabled by the AFL and I understand the reason for respect and avoiding discouragement of umpiring. But there is a King Henry viii complex umpires have developed, where it matters little to understand human emotions and significance of the moment with umpires and more important to enforce, "you can't talk to me that way" authority.

@@iankearns774YEP👍 blues would've won anyway blues did win anyway.
And the mark wouldn't be paid if Luke Jackson wasn't such a poor decision maker
@@davidselby-smith5982 Their forward line was ordinary and so was ours. Free kicks at goal kept them in the game, but I agree around the ground they seemed a bit quicker and cleaner. Backlines on both sides did pretty well. Blues really miss Walsh's pace in the middle, Carroll is still learning so not yet ready. Cerra wasn't his usual self in the guts, I think his ex teammates and coach knew his game too well.
What a disgrace, it reminds me of the 1999 grand final. When silvangi reckons he touched the ball. And North marked the ball in front of goal.No Mark. I am glad the Kangas flogged them that day. Admit to your stupidity
Put 8 umpires on the ground. 4 umpires each side of play. The game has to correct this stuff too much money involved with sponsorship of each club. Disgrace
If this took place in say the 2nd quarter Freo players would not have uttered a word ,
It could also be said that if your aunty had balls, she'd be your uncle.
Well...naturally! Big difference between the frantic end of a very close match and the early stages of a match. You don't think Carlton (or any other teams') players would say anything??!!
The umps crucified the Dockers
Yet another game decided by terrible umpiring.
AFL media hysteria? Too many replays now. Allows the type of behaviour now like players pointing to the big screens at games?
I used to watch nearly EVERY FOOTY GAME every week.. Now I have completely lost interest.. To top it off, we have this BS comments from Robbo, who couldn't care less cause it's Freo "Move on, move on already" and Gerrard who HARDLY EVER has a strong opinions on anything and always walking the fine line..
I'm finding myself losing interest in my favourite sport in this world and it bloody SUCKS!!
WTF? 6:24
Umpiring has been questionable all season. There are 4 of them on field, yet mistakes continue to be made each game, and one team suffers. The ARC should be used in these situations when inside 50? Freo players or any defender wouldn’t argue if there was nothing in it. The AFL needs a video umpire for the entire game, it won’t slow the game it will ensure consistency. How many cameras does ch7 have over 20+ yet this wasn’t available for the ARC…unbelievable! Shut up Robbo……you pick and choose what to support, subjective analyst / typist ….. move on!
Umpires stuff up another good game . Why do wee need 10 goal reviews a game now cause umpires cannot remember what they saw ? Very annoying and makes the game unwatchable . lots of balls going out on the full too ! being paid as a mark ??
Never challenge an umpire. No good ever comes of it. Freo leaders need to talk to Jordan Clark about discipline.
Easier said than done
30 seconds left that mark puts them up and it was a miss call i'd be fuming to
Carlton won fair and square. 😁
FreeKickCarlton2024
Well said Robbo get over it .
How can you blame freo for this "do better??" jacksons just doing his job and he really got pulled into it
Carlton always gets the calls from the umps, it's crazy. They're just an average team, let's see how they do when they play a real contender like the Giants without the help of the umpires.
It's still early in the season, but their fans are acting like they've already won the flag😂😂😂 It'll be interesting to see where they are at the halfway point, but I'd be surprised if they make it deep into September.
Get over it fox footy
Nah - they're milking it for the ratings.
Nothing more than a storm in a teacup - but worth $$$$$$ in revenue.
Hold all the post mortems you like. Fact is the record and the ladder will show. Carlton four wins and no loses. I find it interesting no one is talking about the seven goals from contentious free kicks in front of goals for Freo. And for the cherry on top the same umpire who paid cottrells mark, Alex Whetton (19) is the same clown who gifted Freo the seven goals.
they had 2 good tackles resulted in goals. mcgoverns free against could have gone either way. so they still got a few frees no one is talking about. im sure there were marks paid and not paid all day, that were touched all weekend all season.
Our goals from frees came from good defensive pressure and holding the ball decisions. Which ones weren´t there? The McGovern arm chop where he gets none of the ball?
Don´t forget you got a pretty cheap one for holding against Draper, in what was a pretty nothing entry..
