Isn't triple m meant to be all about the banter and taking the piss out of one another? I'm surprised Darcy took such an issue with Cornes' skit given how tame it was, though I wouldn't be surprised if someone from channel 7 got in his ear and told him to go hard on Cornes.
I think the reason he took issue, is normally banter is tongue in cheek and everyone’s at the same level. Whilst this was tongue in cheek to a degree, it’s actually laced with truth and everyone knows it. Cotchin in that role is actually crap, so it was like shooting Bambi… 😂
For the record I’m Team Cornes and thought the Cotchin skit and Darcy take-down are both gold!
Kane handled this so well - everyone knows what it feels like to get attacked when you're not prepared, and he stayed so articulate, didn't get angry or defensive, and absolutely destroyed Darcy then.

Interesting to watch Luke in the lead up to his question, he looked angry and uncomfortable. He knew what he was going to say was not going to go down well, so why say it?
Also the team was not aware of the substance of the question before, unusual to do a drive by on the others. His delivery and defence of the line of questioning forced the others to take sides, I guess he thought that they would take his.
No matter what Luke says the question was premeditated, 'mean spirited' and targeted to be insulting.
Luke put all his panellist on the defensive buy "Ï hope you take this the right way" then insulting a guest. No one on the panel looked happy with what Luke said and to say it was "sad" that Kane was by himself says more about himself than Kane. "I would have ask the same question face to face", yes you should have, if you have really been wanting to know how Kane felt about this role in the industry why did you not ask him off air, face to face?
Mob/Gang mentality, jump out in front and act tough knowing the mob will back you up, in this case when Luke was challenged he look back to his gang and found them looking at him like he was an idiot.
Luke you knew who you were questioning and had thought about the question for a long time, yet you were woefully unprepared not only to discuss your opinion but to back it up with anything meaningful.
Best advice I can give is run the 'mean spirited' meter over your questions and yourself before going to air..

Luke needs to have something more than "I was curious" when going after Kane like that. Calls him nasty, mean spirited and sad. This is a perfect example of asking the right question but framing it incorrectly. If Darc had asked, "Why do you tend to heavily accentuate the negative aspects of the sport rather than the positive aspects?" it would have resulted in a far better conversation.

I’m pretty anti-Kane… I was with Darce with the “mean spirited” stuff… I think Kane has an agenda sometimes, I’m not gonna lie (bro I’m an Eagles fan… can you blame my bias after Kanes Harley Reid comments against us? 😂)
But once we get into territory of Darce basically calling Kane a fraud for money, or basically being insinuated as a con-artist disguised as a journalist, that’s one of the worst violations of journalism that one can commit. Kane Cornes is the most hated AFL media figure, hands down. He is hated because he speaks the truth. Yes, some of his opinions are outlandish and far-fetched, but majority of the time he is correct and says what a lot of people are thinking. I wasn’t originally a fan of Kane, but I’ve come around to him once I’ve realised where he comes from with his opinions.
Robbo, Lyon, Carro, Eddie, Damo & Whatley. There are some contenders it's not hands down. Some for personality, some for the things they say. Darcy's question was legit and honest. His use of the words mean-spirited and nasty without real examples was out of line considering how gracious Kane was to come on and give MMM content humbling himself in the boxing ring/social media/ general AFL community.
@@nickcarlson2708 Hmm I disagree with those examples. The closest would be Eddie McGuire. Whateley routinely wins awards and is voted one of the most trusted media personalities. Robbo has always been on the right side of history with Adam Goodes and AFLW, so I like him for that and give him some grace. He's just un-polished. But that's no where near the negativity that Kane stirs up in our football community. He shits all over it and is a net negative.
