@@thomasmoreel9661 pitch correction Is a thing! Is not the same as autotune (and personally i hate when they confuse both) pitch correction can be and it's mostly applied live as well a reverb, it's something basic that you do in the mixer

I think lots of time they are listening to pitch and tone rather than the words as well. Plus it is extreme different.

Exactly what I was going to say. Covering the Judge's own song is a huge risk, and a huge sign who they want to work with. You're not just screwing the other judge, but the contestant who has a once in a lifetime chance to work with someone.

its an absolute disservice to the contstant because it takes the focus off of you know ""the voice" and the contestant and puts it on the judges. If a person turns for you and you want to join their team you shouldnt be kept from them just because a other judged wanted to be a dick

As awesome as it was to see Boy George's response to DYWTHM, I LOVE Kelly's reaction. Kelly Rowland has always struck me as someone who is really genuine about her passion for music and her love of other performers. You can see it in her eyes when she turns around and starts singing with him, she's in awe of his talent.

I can imagine Mika's songs are really hard to perform on shows like this to judges due to how unique Mika's voice and style is to him, so you are almost forced to take a different direction when performing it, which is always riskier.

I love these because of the visible internal struggle the coach in question has when they hear their song.
It goes from "do they have a good voice" to something deeper.
I can't explain it in words, but when someone does something you're known for, there's a deeper feeling than recognizing what goes into the act itself.

music becomes a whole lot stronger when the singers emotions align with the song, and altough the song of boy george was about heartbreak, and the singer was crying of joy it is still a very powerfull emotion that would make one cry in the first place, especialy when the lyrics litteraly spell out that they are making him cry however in this case not of pain but of joy..... and this makes the song that much better to watch and listen too

@@hananecherfi4590 That could easily be true. Maybe the voice of Alicia just fitted hers perfectly and her vocal coach at home thought she would have better chances this way? Of course it seems obvious that she wanted to be coached by Alicia, but there could be other reasons to. And: It's not the end of the world. I mean, she will be able to talk and see Alicia behind the scenes and stuff (I think) and don't forget, it's not all about winning an stuff, there are also business reasons for the contestants. They maybe want to make money with their voice afterwards and it could be that another judge than their favorite is a better vocal coach for the contestant. Still... I like the german version without the Block-option more. It's just a little bit less competition and the judges can take their time to choose without being afraid of that.

saira610 that’s definitely not it. Do you know how much pressure a contestant puts on a coach when they use their song. I wouldn’t want people to think I pushed just because they used my song. Jelly thanks Adam for turning because she wanted the girl on the show, but I’m going to assume there was an underlying reason she couldn’t turn. I believe at this point in the show her team was full if I recall correctly, therefore she couldn’t turn. Or it was close to it and she was looking for something just a bit more.
The reason they don't turn is because it's generally accepted that you shouldn't turn for your own song..
The person singing is most likely to pick you if they sign YOUR song, so it isn't fair to the other judges.
