Love those keycaps! Would love to buy them. When do you plan to sell them separately?

Sounds lovely! Any possibility of restock?

Hi! Unfortunately, the vintage alps are all gone. I can offer only Matiases but I have temporarily disabled new orders because I am reworking the set of moulds. This will take a couple of months.

Awesome video - my fav switch. How did waxboiling go for you?

I think it is fine. I have no idea how long it lasts, though. Compared to NeKtar-lubing, the restoration is much faster.

@@keymacs But in terms of typing feel and sound (regardless of which one is more similar to original Alps), which method do you prefer? NeKtar or waxboiling?

@@IOSam This is hard to tell. I should add that my perception of switch quality is perhaps not the best. I do not even think that I am able to judge if a switch is 8/10 or 7/10. Both the methods remove binding for sure. When it comes to scratchiness, I am not sure at all and it seems that it varies from one switch lot to another.

I finally the boiled wax method a try on two sets of switches. The hot water sort of annealed the plastic and made them a bit smoother. I then repeated it with wax and it added nothing. I also tried adding the candle wax directly to the same switches and it made it smoother, but vaguely smoother than just using hot water. Like what keymacs said, some keys were great others while others felt not so great. Overtime, however, the switches rebounded back to their scratchiness. There's a reason why floors, cars and furniture need periodic waxing and why it's not the first choice for lubrication. It eventually loses out to friction. There's a huge science behind lubrication in order to maximize its performance and longevity.
What did work for me is ultrasonic cleaning and Nyogel 760. I got the idea from Karolus channel (sp?). They became buttery smooth and delightful. But what shocked me was the sudden change in the tone. It went from a faint clack to a glorious thocc on nearly every switch. It's been about 3 years and they all still sound and feel great. In fact, they've gotten better.

Sounds like an epmty cardboard box, sorry that I can't praise it.
