But the resolution, there is no GPU that can run games 100+ fps for this monitor. Yes, you can lower video settings, but whats the point having this monitor than?
For sim racing even if you run 1440 I think this would look great. It’s the sheer size and immersion over the 49”. And you are also future proofed for 4k when you upgrade to a gpu that can run at 4k.
Awesome review of the G9, just ordered one myself with them being $700 off until the 28th of April. At $1800 made it a absolute no brainer to pull the trigger.
Great review and information! Suggestion: B roll was a little shaky - maybe a steady-cam or something with stability? And a little enthusiasm / voice variation in narration couldn't hurt. (Felt like reading from a script - which is okay but lacked the feeling that you really love the monitor). Otherwise I thought this was a very informative and well done and quick review vs. others who drone on-and-on-and-on. Keep up the good work, you earned a subscriber here! (And I just ordered this monitor from Samsung, LOL!)
You can do it in 240hz on 4090, use HDMI cable instead of display port ( hdmi protocol compression magic :) ), also on windows you use native "8k" and just set scale to 200%
Yeah but that's always not the case, but I understand in your experience you have doubts. You could always pick up extended warranties, they should come in handy especially i n your experience, its an added expense, but if you plan on having it for more than 2 years, then it could be worth it
Running a 7900 xtx with this monitor. 240 hz isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. My gpu runs idle at 50C+ and idle power draw of 60W. Turning it down to 120 hz using DP 1.4 makes the gpu idle at 43C at 20W.
My 4090 idles at 32C, but could be due to airflow and positioning. I guess its best to wait until the next generation or 2 to be able to achieve 240+ on this monitor
@@geesehoward7261 I disagree. I'm on their AM5 platform, and while it was a tough start, I'm confident that they are gonna be on top. Have you seen the 14900K up against the 7950x3D ? What impresses me the most is that the AMD runs on wayyy less power and is still able to output incredible performance
Rn, only the RX7000 series has DP2.1. The 4090 was originally launched a few months after DP2.1 was announced so I get it, but still sucks not not be able to crank everything up to max. Rumors say the 50 series should have DP2.1 though.. Edit: fixed grammar
Great review and I agree not having a USB-C port (yes, with power) is a big downside of this machine. Hope Samsung can include that for the next update.
Hreat video thank you! First time here and subscribed. Quick q, does the matte finish bother you mich if used to an oled? I have an oled G9 ony desk, but for my racing sim I have an older CHG90 thats not oled and kinda matte. I was going for another G9 for the sim, but your video made me think maybe O should give this Neo 57" a go. Whats your take in that situation? Thanks so much!
I always say once you go OLED there's no going back 😅 BUT, given the insanely high resolution of Dual 4K on the Neo 57 makes you wish the oled g9 had that resolution. So my take is that if you have the size to accommodate and are ok with todays GPUs not being able to take full advantage yet, then I think its worth it.
With that arm, can you bring the screen all the way to the edge of an 80cm desk? That'd be ACE with a sim rig on wheels. Sit/stand dasks, if you search, can go quite low to meet your rig, or you can find a way to raise a rig to meet the desk. With such a fancy unit, I'd like to use it for as many uses as possible.
Great review. I just got mine in yesterday. What dock are you using? I've got a pc and a mac and I am not sure what dock to use that will connect both at the same time.
I'm not using a dock at the moment. I just have my PC connected with DisplayPort, and MacBook with HDMI cable. I use Logitech Master 3S Mouse and Master Keys that allow me to switch between pc and mac seamlessly
Great review. Looks like 57" G9 has a great image quality. Is it easy on your eyes when you are working? I have Samsung M8 32" 4k monitor, which also uses a VA panel. It makes my eyes get tired much earlier than other monitors I've used in the past. I've set mine at rather low brightness with a warm color profile, but still.
Yeah it does fatigue your eyes very quickly since this display gets very bright. I'm looking to purchase a monitor light since every where I look, seems like it helps eye strain
Thank you for providing a very good overview of this monitor. I plan to buy this monitor for myself as well, and it's very important that both PC and Mac support it. I do not plan to purchase it until Nvidia's newer generation GPUs are out, which do not have those legacy HDMI and DisplayPorts, and I hope that by that time, Samsung will already have version 2 of this monitor out and Ergotron will have a monitor stand that supports this monitor. I hope it will be the end of this year.
@@vAnduCloudGaming No I haven't, I only had the 4090 during this video. I would look into 4K benchmarks, and expect way less since you're driving DUAL 4K. I think 60FPS is a reasonable target, and it'll take testing different graphics settings
Thanks for sharing your settings, I tried using yours with HDR which is better than my last HDR settings, my current settings I like was without but yours is much better the only difference is I lowered the contrast to 90% digital vibrance left it to 50, and I noticed with HDR and leaving hdr mapping on active makes the screen to bright especially when using it for productivity, so I changed it to static,, in your video do you normally leave HDR on all the time? whats your SDR content brightness set? if you don't mind me asking
I used the monitor in SDR for the first 2 weeks, but when then when I started testing out the HDR and tweaking it, and have actually left it on at all times. I forgot to mention in the video that I have the automatic brightness setting on, so its not so bright depending on the lighting
@@FIREWOLFTECH Got it! thank you for sharing, I forgot all about the best brightness option, I did enable it but then the screen got darker, so I decided to lower the SDR content brightness between 30-40
@@khaos555 You're welcome ! Brightness is going to me a matter of personal preference so its great that this monitor has great brightness levels 🔥🔥 What graphics card are you using ?
@@drunkhusband6257 I actually ended up switching from active to static on HDR mapping, if you do this with his current settings it's going to look the same as SDR, I only switch from static to active when I'm playing games due to the additional brightness on top of Windows 11
As long as you’re using it in its intended aspect ratio of 16:9, it was a great experience. Even picture by picture worked beautifully 🔥 thankfully the black bars aren’t too noticeable
image quality and HDR in my opinion look better on the Neo G9. The Neo G9 has a higher pixel per inch density and while the OLED G9 has better blacks and colors, the Neo G9 has an advantage with higher brightness. Neo G9 is also VESA certified HDR1000 which makes HDR better. In comparison, the OLED G9 has VESA certified TrueBlack 400. For gaming, I prefer the OLED G9 because of that beautiful OLED display. If i had to choose one, I would personally go for the 57 Neo G9.
@@FIREWOLFTECH The OLED G9 may not carry the VESA HDR 1000 certification but it does hit 1000 nits in 2% peak window for HDR. The better contrast due to having true blacks also makes the HDR pop giving the effect of overall higher brightness. It would have been much better though had Samsung upped the brightness some so that we could have gotten HDR 600 TrueBlack certification on the OLED G9.
@@FIREWOLFTECH It’s a disappointment. Literally the same size vertically as my 34” ultrawide. My 45” LG UltraGear+ OLED is also 1440p but the screen is physically taller giving the feeling of having higher resolution. I’m tempted to return the OLED G9 and just keep the 45” UltraGear+ and perhaps buy a 4k OLED next year. It’s a tough choice though because the OLED G9 is really nice when I’m doing work as I have a ton of screen real estate. I may also return both and just get the 55” Ark Second Generation, although I’ll need a much bigger desk if I do that.
I agree, the height makes a difference. The OLED G9 was such a beautiful display, and LG 45 is also great, but the low PPI density is noticeable. I'll be unboxing the Ark Second Gen in a few days, so I'll see what its about EDIT: BTW, how is your desk not big enough ?
keeping the 57'' neo but also plan on getting a lg 32'' 4k 240hz oled next year 4k @ 240hz and 480hz @ 1080p mode can't wait to test that one oh and there is a monitor arm that supports it for like $169 bewiser or something like that
With diablo 4 blizzard added black bar overlays covering the spaces only allowing you to see 27x9 after beta due to pvp, sorcs could click teleport anywhere on the screen.. you can literally see jame tags in the black bars.
I have this monitor and found that with a 30" deep desk, the monitor was just way too close for comfort to my eyes. Did putting the monitor on a stand help to push it back to a comfortable level for you? If so by how many inches?
i was about to buy this monitor. thanks for this video. i have a 4080 and as you said it cant run on 240hz so whats the point for buying this. my gpu supports hdmi 2.1 though
You'll have to change the aspect ratio in the settings menu down to 16:9. Sorry for the late reply 😅 This of course will give you black bars on each side
It’ll definitely run it, but gaming performance wise, I would look into 4K gaming performance benchmarks for the 3080 to get a closer idea of how it could run. You may have to lower graphics or resolution depending on the game of course. But either way, you’d be future proofing with DisplayPort 2.1 whenever you upgrade later
@@vasicdude9430 I've been running this monitor for the past 5 months and LOVE it. It runs great. Gaming is good. Not a heavy gamer so not mission out. But productivity running the Adobe Suite has been a game changer.
Can you play a game centered on the screen and have a browser open on one side? Also, why are people still running towers? My Legion 7 Pro has 64GB ram, 4TB space and a 4080 in it and it destroys everything I throw at it. On top of that when I travel I have my full desktop with me. Towers are just outdated at this point.
hey, i really like this monitor and looking to get one, do you have any idea if i can run 2 additional monitors with this beast on a 4090? so this one on 7680 x 2160 at 120hz and then a 1080x1920 on 60hz and a 2560x1440 on 120hz i have been trying so hard to get information on this but i cant find that anywhere!
I'd like to know how you got the Ergotron Hx to work for this monitor , i already had this Arm on my desk for my LG 38'' uwd , this monitor Drooped straight down and the monitor sat on my Desk i called Ergotron they said it's No good above 49'' despite the monitor being under the advertised 40 lbs . good luck hope your monitor doesn't get destroyed , I only paid $1599 for mine at B&H photo. This monitor has speakers btw
This wont apply to everyone, but i got motion sickness with this monitor from the size and curve. I replaced with the 49 OLED and love it.. the OLED looks much better IMO.. and $700 cheaper.
Hey man, I don't know if you read comments on older videos, but would you say this monitor is capable of deep blacks with very little blooming (compared to IPS) that's close to OLED? Or would you say it still has the same level of blooming as an IPS monitor?
If you load a hdr profile I found that corrects the gama. The blacks are comparable to my 77 inch qd oled s95c. It is truly amazing how deep colors are as well
Yes by changing the aspect ratio down to 16:9 should also reduce the rendering down to 4K resolution, and then depending on the game and graphics settings, you should be fine hitting 240
I'm about to buy this monitor. I will be using it with a 4090 and G-Sync is a must for me. I have seen people saying that enabling G-Sync causes flickering with this monitor. Is that true?
Its not verified by NVIDIA to be G-Sync Compatible, so its something i personally didn't enable because in the control panel, it states its not compatible. I recommend looking through reddit forums for people who share their G-Sync experiences
@@FIREWOLFTECH It being not approved by Nvidia is not an issue. Almost all decent FreeSync monitors(even the ones not certified for G-Sync) have no problem with G-Sync these days. When it comes to G-Sync, I'm reading conflicting opinions regarding this monitor though. Some people(In Reddit, HardForum, etc.) say there is no problem with G-Sync and some other people say the opposite. I don't know what to believe. LoL!!
I mean thats a huge gap in screen sizes 😅 I think mini led is good enough, but I do prefer OLED for those true blacks. I think it comes down to your desk setup, because this monitor is huge, but its also an amazing experience
Are you using ultra settings in MW3 to get 120 FPS or medium settings with your RTX 4090? Its an awesome monitor but Ill wait until the RTX 5090 comes out and hooefully Nvidia puts in DP 2.1 or higher.

How are the blacks on this? I been debating between the OLED G9 and this but can’t decide. I really want this 57 but am afraid I won’t like it cuz im so used to OLED panels.
If you're used to OLED panels, you're gonna want an OLED. Right now i'm testing out the ASUS 49 OLED which uses the latest QD-OLED version and so far I'm loving it 🔥
Is the ghosting disturbing while doing some base office work like Excel etc? I'm thinking of some ultrawide monitor for mixed usage like gaming and office work. And can I use one keyboard+mouse for 2 PCs that will be connected to this monitor?
I don’t personally use excel, but from all the work I do, it’s been great. I’m currently 90% content creating / 10% gaming 😅 As for using keyboard and mouse for 2 pcs, I use the Logitech MX keys : amzn.to/3oeJ11J and Logitech Master 3S : amzn.to/3Akw1KZ These have 3 programmable setups and it’s how I can easily switch between PC and Mac. It comes with a USB (you could use it for PC1) and Bluetooth (connect to 2nd PC, and you’ll be able to easily switch between them by selecting the number. If your PC doesn’t have Bluetooth, I recommend just getting a Bluetooth dongle, it’ll make it easier
@ 9:22 You can really see the diagonal line issue that many of these monitors (if not the large majority) have. Have you noticed it in daily usage? With hdr on in desktop its so painfully obvious for me. Had to return and am buying abfew more to see if they all are this bad.
I haven't noticed diagonal lines when I daily used it and keep in mind that this footage is being recorded with a camera @ 24fps, and shutter speed picks up lines and sometimes flicker that you don't see in real life
@@FIREWOLFTECH understood. Those lines are definitely not induced by shutter speed/refresh rate combo. My first unit had them as dark as yours shows over 3/4 of the screen (in HDR, in sdr they were much lighter). Second unit still has them but much much lighter and basically invisible unless really looking for them close up and on only about 1/4 of the screen. Definitely a panel to panel variation (can find quite a few posts on Reddit about it)
@@winebartender6653 Have exactly the same issue, Samsung tech who came out couldn't see them, they've now agreed to replace the monitor but I'm going to wait a few months with the hope I get a newer panel which doesn't have this flaw.

I would say, out of the 10, 2-3 were acceptable in terms of this issue. The first "good" one I got had a stuck green pixel at the top center. I was willing to live with it but the very last monitor I ordered had the absolute best screen (no diagonal lines except on the very 5% on the right side and no dead/stuck/dust covered pixels) I never talked to Samsung about it as I didn't want to wait that long nor deal with Customer service. So I went the aggressive route lmao
@@AlexAsigno-qx5zx To add, the diagonal line vary greatly in their strength and coverage on the screen. The right side will always have them the closer you get to the edge. Some have light diagonal lines, some have darker ones. It's a crapshoot.

OLED been out for a long time now and the phone you're using now probably uses OLED. Apple been using OLED since the iPhone 12
If your a nvidia user the monitor suffers from gsync flickering, they did not include vrr on the monitor like prior g7 and g9s.. it may take a few months for samsung to release a firmware to fix the issue (2020 June release of g7 and g9 took 6 months to add vrr) Hdmi port 1 (locked max 4k120hz hdmi/dp) Display port (60hz max 4k,240hz 1440p) These 2 inputs are the only ones that fully allow you to turn on gsync on nvidia control panel You have to check box; this monitor is not certified gsync compatible to actually enable gsync. Easiest way to test if gsync is working properly is downloading nvidia pendulum demo.. which you can not select gsync on upper left corner if using hdmi 2 3 ports (even though you select gsync on nvidia control panel but compatible checkbox is missing) You will see the typical severe gsync flicker otherwise when it is actually turned on.. So for now I would just wait for Samsung to actually put a firmware fix out Its currently @ 1003 which does not have vrr( which is typically found under settings on the osd) Gsync keeps frames nice and smooth especially for high demanding games like cyberpunk. You will get screen tearing on that game for sure with gsync off If your a amd user then disregard this post
Its not G-Sync Compatible...Samsung nor NVIDIA claim that this monitor will be able to use G-Sync with no issues. Even if you can turn it on, why would you ? Even the NVIDIA control panel states that it is not validated as G-SYNC. I've looked into NVIDIA site for enabling G-Sync "Make sure you have a G-SYNC-capable or G-SYNC Compatible display connected, enabled, and configured as the primary display." The OSD still shows Adaptive-Sync ON and Gameplay for me was super smooth. Maybe in a future firmware they could 'fix' it, but until then, since its not G-Sync compatible, I wouldn't bother
@@FIREWOLFTECH play cyberpunk and test, its just the matter of fact prior monitors had vrr added, yes they paid for certification which isn't cheap and I feel samsung cheaper out now to save money but none the less it should not flicker. You want to get thrvmost out of the display for your money and gsync will improve visual smoothness
I honestly think the reason why Samsung didn't have this G-Sync certified is probably because they couldn't get the 4090 to output 7680 x 2160 @ 240Hz. I think for G-Sync to truly be certified is to have the monitor be fully compatible in the highest resolution and refresh rate. I'm curious, what do you believe is the reason why this 4090 cant achieve 240Hz even with HDMI 2.1 ?
@@FIREWOLFTECH withholding support, prob got a nice amount of money from amd to make it exclusive and get 7900 sales to go up as a ploy with dp 2.1.. notice amd can do 240hz even with hdmi 2.1 I believe. A firmware should fix this though.. at least if they add vrr.. I don't believe the neo g9 is gsync compatible(original and g7 were) and neo g7/g8 are not and they have vrr on their osd.. plus samsung has to send the monitor to nvidia to certify, maybe not being able to do 240hz hdmi 2.1 could be a secndary reason but I feel they opted out to save money

@@FIREWOLFTECH thank you!!!
Where did you have the animated Wallpaper Background? Thats super nice !😃
The animated wallpapers are from Wallpaper Engine (via STEAM). Worth the few dollars it costs 🔥

Awesome review! is there any popping noises on the back of the monitor when turned on or shut off after use?
From the time that I tested, I wanna say I heard something similar like about 3 times
Great useful review!

Whoo Whoo Can we talk about that rig doe?

Leave HDR always off, and properly setup your SDR settings. HDR is absolute junk tech and always looks worse.
@@drunkhusband6257 I actually ended up switching from active to static on HDR mapping, if you do this with his current settings it's going to look the same as SDR, I only switch from static to active when I'm playing games due to the additional brightness on top of Windows 11
So I have an Aurora R16 4090 14900 i9 and I won’t be able to get 240 fps with this monitor because the pc doesn’t handle it?
because the monitor is curved you have to factor in leverage when thinking about the weight.
Great review (and great set up👍). One question - what was your experience using the PS5 on this please?
I’m 99.99% set on getting this monitor😁
As long as you’re using it in its intended aspect ratio of 16:9, it was a great experience. Even picture by picture worked beautifully 🔥 thankfully the black bars aren’t too noticeable
@@FIREWOLFTECH Thank you
Nice video, thank you for sharing. Besides the size and resolution, how does the image quality and hdr compare to the oled g9?
image quality and HDR in my opinion look better on the Neo G9.
@@dayjeremy How do you feel about the 1440 vertical resolution ? I wish the G9 OLED was at least 1600
I'll be unboxing the Ark Second Gen in a few days, so I'll see what its about
EDIT: BTW, how is your desk not big enough ?
Tell me you are an Nvidia fan without telling me you are. Other than that, great video.

Does it make any difference versus a OLED Panel?
With diablo 4 blizzard added black bar overlays covering the spaces only allowing you to see 27x9 after beta due to pvp, sorcs could click teleport anywhere on the screen.. you can literally see jame tags in the black bars.

I have this monitor and found that with a 30" deep desk, the monitor was just way too close for comfort to my eyes. Did putting the monitor on a stand help to push it back to a comfortable level for you? If so by how many inches?
Absolutely! Monitor arms really help you push the monitor all the back. My desk is also 30” in this video. That’s why I recommended an arm

How do you set up for console and get rid of the stretched image
You dont, consoles cant display outside of 16:9. So either stretched or black bars on the sides.
You'll have to change the aspect ratio in the settings menu down to 16:9. Sorry for the late reply 😅 This of course will give you black bars on each side
Wow, awesome review! I'm looking to run a multimonitor setup and this may just fit the bill. Cursious, will a GeForce RTX 3080 run this monitor?
It’ll definitely run it, but gaming performance wise, I would look into 4K gaming performance benchmarks for the 3080 to get a closer idea of how it could run. You may have to lower graphics or resolution depending on the game of course.
But either way, you’d be future proofing with DisplayPort 2.1 whenever you upgrade later
3080 run this? It'll run, but it won't run well. Not worth buying this monitor with that card unless you're just doing business software.
@@vasicdude9430 I've been running this monitor for the past 5 months and LOVE it. It runs great. Gaming is good. Not a heavy gamer so not mission out. But productivity running the Adobe Suite has been a game changer.

I have an iBUYPower Icore 7. It has a MSI GFORCE RTX graphics card. Is that not enough to power this monitor?
The RTX 4000 series cards dont support that bandwidth, since Nvidia cheaped out.
The RX 7000 series cards support it.

Well I'm glad you found a monitor you ended up loving 🔥 The OLED G9 is also amazing !
It is truly amazing how deep colors are as well
do you know if I can get 240hz on a 4080, while NOT in fullscreen stretched 4k? basically a "single monitor" view
Yes by changing the aspect ratio down to 16:9 should also reduce the rendering down to 4K resolution, and then depending on the game and graphics settings, you should be fine hitting 240
How far from the wall to the outer corner? I think it might block my speakers
i think someone on reddit said this but if you lower the resolution the 4090 may hit around 240hz im not quite sure
Oh for sure, but for me it defeats the purpose of using the dual 4K. I do wish I mentioned this in the video though

My MacBook has HDMI 2.1, so I used an HDMI cable.
You could also use a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort

If your a nvidia user the monitor suffers from gsync flickering, they did not include vrr on the monitor like prior g7 and g9s.. it may take a few months for samsung to release a firmware to fix the issue (2020 June release of g7 and g9 took 6 months to add vrr)
Hdmi port 1 (locked max 4k120hz hdmi/dp)
Display port (60hz max 4k,240hz 1440p)
These 2 inputs are the only ones that fully allow you to turn on gsync on nvidia control panel
You have to check box; this monitor is not certified gsync compatible to actually enable gsync.
Easiest way to test if gsync is working properly is downloading nvidia pendulum demo.. which you can not select gsync on upper left corner if using hdmi 2 3 ports (even though you select gsync on nvidia control panel but compatible checkbox is missing)
You will see the typical severe gsync flicker otherwise when it is actually turned on..
So for now I would just wait for Samsung to actually put a firmware fix out
Its currently @ 1003 which does not have vrr( which is typically found under settings on the osd)
Gsync keeps frames nice and smooth especially for high demanding games like cyberpunk. You will get screen tearing on that game for sure with gsync off
If your a amd user then disregard this post
Its not G-Sync Compatible...Samsung nor NVIDIA claim that this monitor will be able to use G-Sync with no issues. Even if you can turn it on, why would you ? Even the NVIDIA control panel states that it is not validated as G-SYNC. I've looked into NVIDIA site for enabling G-Sync "Make sure you have a G-SYNC-capable or G-SYNC Compatible display connected, enabled, and configured as the primary display."
The OSD still shows Adaptive-Sync ON and Gameplay for me was super smooth.
@@dnsean03 I can def see AMD sales go up a little bit, not enough for me to switch though lol
I really appreciate the info you shared and will be taking that info in consideration for future videos 🔥
It's now $1799
Any issues with scanlines?
I haven’t noticed any
YOU ARE STUCK AT 120 HZ WITH A 4080? IS THIS A JOKE?
4090
@@FIREWOLFTECH same thing basically both cant
On some games, you blurred out your metrics.
are you referring to the FPS counter on the top right ?
No 7900xtx NO 240hz
Sadly 🥺
