Thank you, Ms. Nikki. This is the video I didn't know I needed. Communication is so important, communicating with your partner, family and relatives will definitely relieve a lot of stress letting them know, you need some time or help. This is where things backfire on me, being an overachiever and a "wonderful host" is stressful, time consuming and expensive. Recently for family gatherings I've been asking more and more for help and delegating jobs to my family members to provide something or pick up something for me if I'm unable to. I also have a cousin who comes over early with her girls to help me clean up and assist me in the kitchen, we even shop together when needed. Also, I believe that getting older I just don't have the energy or desire to try to impress or please people anymore. I'm quite content with my life and I've cut out many friends and family who are entitled, bad company, and people who never contribute or host events but always leave with a Tupperware full of the best food even before everyone has had a plate Lol. Thanks again, all your videos these past few weeks have been so helpful and I'm so grateful. Cheers and Merry Christmas.
Nikki, great tips!! I used to make cookies for all of my friends and family. We're talking 50 dozen cookies. After each baby, I would take a year off. Three years ago we had twins, and now I do something simpler instead. This year I am giving everyone a bottle of wine from a winery local to us. The amount of time I am saving is so worth it!!
When you said ask for help and how hard that is, I laughed out loud because it is very true in my case. For those of you who also find this difficult, my grandmother always hosts Thanksgiving and Christmas. A few years ago, she expressed it was becoming hard to do so we all started doing it pot luck style. We all discuss who’s in charge of what and it slightly changes every year. I do the desert, my uncle and aunt do a couple of sides, my mom is known for her salads and appetizers, etc. it has become fun for us to do it this way because we now look forward to my uncle’s stuffing, everyone is excited for my mom’s appetizers, and everyone loves my baking. Now that I am starting to host for other parts of our family, I found it difficult to ask for help. My husband’s aunt offered to bring a side and desert and I didn’t realize until watching this video how much of a relief that was to not worry about those two things and how help from others has benefited my grandma and that side of the family!

That blouse is saying something cute, Nikki!
What wonderful tips Nikki! You are so right about taking care of yourself. You’ll enjoy the hustle and bustle so much more if you do.

Since Christmas falls on a Sunday I’m cooking on Saturday Christmas Eve and we’re going to eat leftovers on Sunday I think that will help me. Lol

I’m a believer of asking what do you want for Christmas
This angle of your vlog is so beautiful. It makes you look different from the others. The other made you look as if you gained weight.
Only the over 60s in my family drink alcohol 🍷 over Christmas. The rest of us don't enjoy it.
