  • In this video, we'll be comparing two of the most popular cast iron pans on the market: the Finex and the Griswold. We'll be grilling up a mouth-watering steak using our Monument Grills gas grill, with both pans heated to 450ºF. To add some extra flavor to the steak, we'll be using smoked beef tallow as a base and basting it with a blend of garlic, rosemary, and ghee.
First up, we'll be grilling the steak on the Finex pan, which is known for its unique octagonal shape and impressive heat retention. We'll be keeping a close eye on the sear and the overall cooking process to see how the Finex performs.
Next, we'll be switching over to the Griswold pan, which has been a favorite among grillmasters for generations. We'll be looking for the same characteristics as we did with the Finex, with a particular focus on the flavor profile and searing ability.
Finally, we'll give our verdict on which pan we think comes out on top in the Cast Iron Clash. So sit back, relax, and join us on this culinary journey as we explore the world of cast iron grilling and barbecue!

I don’t know a thing about Finex, but I think “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” There’s a certain pleasure I think we all get out of cooking with old school cast iron. My $30 Lodge dutch oven/sauté pan I got 8 years ago is going strong and I cook in it every day. I’m a huge fan of cast iron and thanks for making this video!

Thanks for watching! I think the finex is a very beautiful pan and cooks well. However, it’s a splurge purchase. You don’t need it, but it’s nice to have. I got it on serious discount from a closing Williams Sonoma store. My griswold is my work horse.
