  • This is my one year review of my Fido T1 cargo bike. This is not a paid advertisement. I purchased this bike with my own money.
    I have ridden this bike almost daily for over a year. I discuss maintenance cost of an e-bike versus mileage in a standard car.
    I discuss riding this e-bike in wet and hot conditions.

    About the kickstand ... I kept tightening, over and over ... now the frame, area where screws/bolts are, has widened. It won't tighten anymore.
    A helpful man at Ace Hardware helped with the front screw, reversed it and got a locking washer on. But that back one can't be accessed (at the back) ... am I going to have to remove the tire to address it? Looks like it 🤔😕 ... I was JUST NOW on Amazon, looking for one of those kickstands that attaches either rearmount on the bar and/or center mount. Then hopped over here on YT to see if anyone else faced this issue, what solutions I might find. Here this video had just been recently uploaded!
    With an added back rack and accessories (thermal case from L'ectric bikes), my bike is pushing 90 lbs probably ... and that's not when I've got that thermal case packed full with groceries! So I was looking at the Ursus Jumbo Double Leg Kickstand ... I don’t mind paying ($70) IF it's quality and will hold up to fit the bill and worth it! But I also would prefer a solution that DOESN’T cost so much and works just as well.
    Next month marks one year that I've been riding/enjoying my bike. I got it a year ago last December, but Fiido Aftersales had to send me new parts to switch out, as it did not work out the box. Because of this channel and your help, I was able to figure out how to install those and eventually got the confidence to do so.
    I love this bike. Though I do wish the battery maintained its distance ability. When I first got it one charge would do me 50, 50+ miles (PAS 2). Now it's more like 34 miles.
    I did upgrade the brakes (T1 Lite) to those line pulled hydraulic brakes (I still need to learn how to bleed the air and when it should be done) you suggested in an earlier video of yours, and that was A WORLD BETTER!
    This bike definitely has it's cult following, even by those who have encountered some of the frustrations that they've been faced with, regarding it!
    ✌️🫶💪🪷

      The frame is aluminum and those steel bolts will strip out easily. You can get a 1mm larger bolt and use it. You'll have to threed it in a little and then back it out....do that over and over until it goes in tight. Basically you'll rethread it using the bolt. Add some thread locker or Lock-tite, plus a lock washer for the best longevity. The yellow Lock-tite stays in my tool bag. Get them snug, barely tight, covered in loctite and let it dry. That should fix you up.
      I took my bike inside a local sporting goods store to test out a variety of kickstands when I broke the center kickstand on my T1 lite. I didn't find a good replacement that folded up properly or didn't drag the tire or chain. I ended up welding the original back together 4x better than the factory had done. I haven't had issues with it since. As a kid, I always laid my bike down or leaned it on something. So if I get to where neither stand is functional, I'll resort to leaning but add wrap tape to the frame where it contacts the bike rack.
      As far as boxes, try harbor freight or a hardware store. I have two with locking lids and I just throw in a cheap fabric hot/cold back for those items.
      As you know, I have modified my bike guts to keep it torquey. My mileage has dipped over time, but I knew it would. The guts of the T1 Pro are way better at motor control, battery usage and distance. Eventually I'll ride that setup more, but it needs new brakes at the moment. As long as I charge the night before I ride, I rarely run out of juice. I haven't decided if I will rebuild in the original battery case with new cells or just buy a new battery when the time comes. I'll definitely do a video when that happens.
      I'm glad you are still enjoying your rig. Let me know if you have any more issues.
      See ya on the road. ;)

    • @feelthepeace
      @feelthepeace 6 месяцев назад

      If you're able/knowledgeable to rebuild the original battery case (with new cells), do you know how to 'create' it so that it can receive a charge while riding - and plug into a portable supply like a Jackery (Portable Power Station Explorer 300, 293Wh Backup Lithium Battery, 110V/300W Pure Sine Wave AC Outlet, Solar Generator for Outdoors Camping Travel Hunting Blackout (Solar Panel Optional)?
      And if so, I would like to talk with you about finding someone to do the same for my battery / bike! That Jackery charges with a Solar panel ... that would be a sweet setup!
      I would then build a bike camping trailer (multiple YT vids available on that option)!!!
      I've seen other bike battery's that offer the ability to do that - charge from a portable supply - while riding. And that seems like a better option than having a bike with a dual battery arrangement.👍🙌@TornadoGarden

    • @TornadoGarden
      @TornadoGarden  6 месяцев назад

      @@feelthepeace The best configuration with those variables would be Jackery on trailer with solar panels. You wouldn't charge while riding, but the Jackery could be charging a second bike battery while riding or both while stopped....maybe even a small wind turbine in addition to the solar panel on the trailer.
      The trickle of 12v solar doesn't add enough power to really extend range while enroute. The added weight and wind resistance definitely wouldn't help.
      The best option is something that no one is doing....a high voltage pedal actuated generator. You could add tons of voltage without adding weight or more batteries.

      Thanks sucks! I'm always worried even going into the grocery store. I run my cable through the battery and bike, then lock it to a handrail. Even when I have it on the car rack, I lock it to the ball hitch loop.
      I like the idea of a small folding bike that I can stash inside easily or in my trunk.
      You should keep an eye on local FB marketplace or maybe even contact Fiido and see if anyone bought a charger locally....if they didn't steal that too.

    There is a new display for this bike, mounted in the middle. I dont know if it is possible to change it, but hear with them!
    Intresting that you havent hade any issues with rain, I read about many who has sealed the bottom box where the controller box is.

      I saw an assembly video that had that center mounted display. It looks very nice and I considered getting one, but haven't. Mine has the upgraded brighter small display, but I've found I rarely look at it while riding. On both of my bikes, I have phone mounts on that center position. On my T1 Lite , that is used for deliveries/groceries, I even added an accessory bar and moved the display onto it. Since the handlebars are tapered I needed the extra room for my Bluetooth speaker. That moved the display into a better viewing position and even left a spot for one more accessory if I get one.
      Thanks for watching! Let me know when you get in your new ride. See you on the road :-)

    Can you sustain 28 mph easily on this bike? I am worried that when I purchase this, the gear ratio won't be high enough to sustain such high speeds. I have ridden an ebike before which was rated for 28 mph, but at such high speeds the cadence required was so high because the gear ratio was too low.
    What has been your experience? How is the maximum gear ratio? Is it possible to sustain 28 mph at a reasonable cadence?

    • @TornadoGarden
      @TornadoGarden  2 месяца назад +1

      @@hello-lb3vf this bike is more of a workhorse than racehorse.... The gear ratio and PAS are designed for torque and mileage. It is a large heavy bike, that I rarely pedal. My modified T1 is fast, but it is geared to 15mph when peddling on PAS. The throttle will get you to 28 but it isn't geared to assist the motor, by peddling, at that speed. This is a fat tire bike.... If your intent is to actually pedal, you might look at e-bikes with standard tire sizes

      The T1 Pro display has an odometer, is brighter, and will slow the acceleration. Switching to the newer display is a much easier way to get it to perform like a torque sensor. You can check their website for that replacement display.
      Most times I see torque sensors, they are on mid-drive motor bikes.
