We’ve had our Quick Haul Long for about a month now. We’re pretty happy with it. It’s considerably cheaper than the GSD 2. I would say the things you are giving up from GSD are front suspension fork, capability for dual battery upgrade, and the front light is not the brightest I’ve seen. If you intend to ride much gravel I’d go for the GSD, but it wasn’t a big deal to us. The bike can handle mild gravel, but I don’t think I’d recommend it. I supplemented the supplied front light with an Outbound Lighting Detour on the handlebars, which is plenty bright. We’re a couple of seniors zipping around on the bike. We get a lot of approving comments from younger people, particularly at night. So it’s enabled a lifestyle change from frumpy seniors to cool kids. 😂
Oh nooo, it's got the same stand as the Orox! I've drilled and pinned mine and it's been fine since but as standard that stand is straight dangerous. I love that it has the stow decks though, those things are awesome.
I haven't had any issues with the stand besides the feet rotating a little, then I just move them back. Then again, I'm not heavily loading the bike when it's on its stand so I wouldn't know if that becomes an issue
I've been pretty happy on mine, carrying an adult on the back. It is a rough ride for sure, but we've grown accustomed to it. I just avoid bumps while riding with a passenger. We use the captains chair gen 2 on it. Are you aware of any padding that can make the captains chair a little more comfortable? That would be nice.
Look forward to that follow up comparison! We have one cargo bike but are considering a second cargo-ish bike and the number of mid and long tail type options is pretty overwhelming.ill be looking for if there’s any meaningful difference in how the different Terns handle hills. I assume the 85NM across all means they are pretty similar and it may come down to the gear range? And I know this information can be hunted down but sharing basic stats- carrying capacity, the weight of the bikes themselves, etc having all that info summarized will help prospective buyers. Right now it sounds like this new Quick Haul is the way to go. Finding a hard reason to justify the HSD though the GSD seems to still have just better quality and capacity with the price point reflecting that.
I love my Tern Quick Haul. BUT - for months now, Tern has been "out of stock" of important accessories and customer service has never responded to when we can expect the accessories restocked. Here's a list of accessories I've been waiting for: Front Rack, DuoStand and the Club House Mini. Without the Club House Mini I can't make use of the pet kit that requires the Soft Crate Mini and Dog Roof Mini accessories (which are still in stock). There are 13 items Tern is out of stock for the Quick Haul.
Hi @TALON-7! We are so sorry to hear that you have not been updated or couldn't find information on the availability of these accessories. I assure you that not normal for us! Regarding the availability of the accessories, they have been in low supply/or out of stock for the past few months (we are making them as fast as we can). We recently received a shipment of the accessories a few weeks back, but most, if not all, were used to fulfill backorders. Please be aware that stock and back orders are prioritized for Tern Dealers. Therefore, if you require something, it is best to contact your nearest Tern Dealer and make them aware of what you need. If they are out of stock, they can add you to a backorder list, which we recommend for these popular items. In regards to your specific accessories: 1.The Hauler Rack is in stock but in low numbers (call you Tern dealer to order quick!) 2. The Transporteur Rack - out of stock and sold through, new shipment will be in November 3. The Duostand Gen 3 is in stock (call you Tern dealer to order!) 4. Clubhouse Mini - already out of stock and sold through, new shipment will be in November
@@ternbicycles Thank you for your reply and information. I was able to find and buy all the accessories I have been looking for. So I am excited about getting more use out of the bike. What I have found while looking for these accessories is that several mom & pop Tern dealers do not ship. These were mostly on the US west coast. I live on the east coast. I had success with Propel Bikes in getting the Clubhouse mini. I purchased the dog roof mini and soft crate mini from the Tern store. Lastly, I had bought my Tern Quick Haul from REI in Richmond, VA a few months ago. The bike mechanic complimented how well the bike was made.
Mobility matters. Bicycles matter. Electric busses matter. Electric trains matter. Safe protected bike and bus lanes are necessary for efficient transport. Children should be able to ride bicycles or take a bus to school safely. Cities need to provide multiple options for transportation. Less cars, more buses, more bicycles. Staying active is key. There is a climate crisis. We need to make walking, cycling, using escooters and taking a bus easier and the default option for most people. Ebikes are brinigng many older adults back to cycling and the benefits of exercise.

My mom *loves* riding our Tern HSD, because of the geometry and the "smallness" of the bike. She wants to get an e-bike for herself, but she doesn't need a cargo bike - do you have any recommendations for e-bikes that have a similar feel to the HSD? Thanks!

@BikeShopGirl Great video! Great Channel. Just subscribed 🎉 I'm currently looking at getting an ecargo bike for my family and am comparing the Tern Quick Haul LT, the Specialized Globe Haul LT and the Radwagon 5. Curious to see more comparison videos of 'best ecargo bikes
It's really hard for me to compare the Quick Haul Long, Specialized and Rad since the ebike systems are completely different. The Bosch system rides so much differently than a hub motor, much smoother, quieter, and like a normal bike instead of feeling like an engine is pushing you along. Can you tell me what you are going to be carrying that can also remove some options!
My wife and I tested the Tern GSD, Quick Haul Long, Specialized Globe Haul LT, Radwagon 5 and Cannondale Cargowagon Neo and my wife loved the GSD the best. I honestly preferred the Specialized but it's a very long and heavy bike compared to a GSD. I'm a little hesitant to buy a GSD now, given Tern may launch a new GSD Gen 3 next year though. Do you have any news here? Our use case is to drop 2 young kids (1y & 3y) at daycare and then commute to work in San Francisco. Total round trip is ~10 miles. What do you think of the Cannondale Cargowagon Neo given it has the Bosch motor?
@WheezyWaiter has just done a video about discovering the joy of e-bikes, and is thinking about purchasing his own and wants one to be able to travel around with his daughter. I think it would be a really REALLY good chance for you to reach a wider audience if you could ‘coach’ him in how to think about getting a new e-bike as an alternative to the car. Might be worth reaching out to him?
5:18 "I live on turbo" that should go on a t-shirt! ❤
All the turbo, all the time.

Great information to help folks make good choices. Love the "all-in price" discussion too.
Agreed the all in kid carrying price is key! Thank you for comparison videos!
Your level of BOTH direct experience and technical knowledge is fantastic!

Personally a want front shock suspension on my e-bikes.
Seems like an okay bike but was nice to hear the details on the features that make the case for the GSD :)

Could you do a video on bike racks for the home. I do most of my maintenance at home, but I can't find a bike stand that will support my cargo bike.

Not happy at all. The power is pretty poor for hilly areas
200Ib male, loaded touring gear, hills and mountains of Maine with 250w to 500w is simply impossible. Don't believe a word of this infomercial.
Not sure how it is an infomercial 😂
Sounds like you need lower gearing
