Three absolutely different styles, for sure. Noz scored trillion points for me right off the bat though, when she introduced an island so that people don't have to walk forever to get to the fridge. This assignment didn't even have clients, but she showed that she is thinking of the user in relation to the space. It's not all about the looks and it is great to see that a designer understands that. Thank you for this video, it's awesome!
One critique is that Noz blocked the view with that big couch and the guests backs will be towards the view! And then she blocked the view further with those colour panels.
I loved Noz's design from the beginning, it's such a great vibe. But when we started coming to the end I was thinking that it's all very white and no colors and then BOOM.. she added those color windows and WOW, I got so excited . I was sold. I loved loved the final design..
The view was by far the most special thing about the room, and then she blocked/distorted it... that makes absolutely no sense to me. That's just trying to be cool with no sense of your surroundings.
Yes, i agree i was sad bc it almost seemed to neutral and white but that pop of color through the window was super cool. The only thing is that I would remove the fur carpet from under the dining table.
For anyone wondering here’s their design style diagnostic (in my opinion) Noz: Eclectic Darren: Contemporary and Art Deco Joy: Scandinavian and Traditional (and some hints of Shabby Chic)
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV ROMANS 10:9-11 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame” Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”” Luke 19:10 God wants us to believe in His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins :D When we truly believe in our hearts that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for our sins so we could have eternal life with God, we are saved from the eternal fire and have eternal life in Christ Jesus!! 💖 May God bless you all! 😊💗
Ok but I'd hands down live in Noz's space. Perhaps in in Darren if this place is huge and I have an open kitchen/tv room/regular dining space somewhere else, and tbh (everybody's got their thing) but never in Joy's, mostly just not into harsh shapes/love more organic and also it feels like I'd always be bashing into a chair or something.
Darren's is very cool, but a super specific vibe. I feel like joys is definitely the most approachable, I could see myself living in it, and Noz's is like if I were the coolest version of myself I would love to live in that space.
I genuinely love everyone’s aesthetic. Joy’s design seems to be the most functional (even down to the crypton), Noz’s creation is beautiful but I would be afraid to do anything in that space - way too white for me - but it’s breathtakingly organic. Last but definitely not least Darren’s mind is brilliant. I would love to tag along with him on adventures just to see how he views the world and what he’s attracted to. His design was my favorite, but I couldn’t see myself living there. More of these videos please 🥰
I would have honest to god absolutely loved noz's design if only she didn't choose all white and neutrals for everything and instead used the same shapes but with a lot more colour and did away with the weird coloured window pannels that only take away from the views
All white is the best. So easy to clean. You see a stain and get to clean it right away without it setting. And you can use bleach and peroxide but can’t do that on color fabrics and woods.
Noooozzz!!! When you were building, I was like ‘yes, I like, gimme some colour girl’. And then those windows!!!! I literally yelled out ‘YEEES!!!’. The design is BREATHTAKING! You’re a genius! (Well done to all, so amazing to watch such a different interpretation of the space. Inspiring on all fronts.)
Joy's seems most rooted in how people actually live. I suspect with real life layering would be gorgeous, but it does seem a little lackluster in the rendering. I loved Noz's right up until those tinted panels, love all organic shapes and white. Darren's would be a fabulous swanky hotel lobby, but particularly billed as an entertaining space, sitting on low cushions and sculptural furniture is not a relaxed experience for guests
Joys design with chairs with more of a curve design would have made the space more balanced. The space is very rectangular and her furniture is too. Like the dining chairs and living room chairs Noz used. The breakfast bar stools of neither work, they need to have padded seats and lower backs. Viola Davis chose perfect ones for a surprise redo of a kitchen for friend with Property Brothers. Rugs with holes are bad idea. That space needs a beautiful rug with color and/or artwork with color and accessories and pillows that pick up colors of the artwork and rug.
i think she's considering the practicality and budget of a real person's living space, which is an interesting contrast to the others being so Arsty. Joy's feels very lived in
I think it’s just so cool to see how different people’s minds are!! That’s why I love art; there is just so much freedom and room for interpretation. And everybody is unique in their own way!
@@andtipideeLEGIT THIS! the most beautiful thing about art is the ways in which each person can love something but interpret it and have a whole different experience with it. This is across all mediums btw.
AD should definitely make this a series. It was very cool to watch! I love Noz’s organic space. Everything flowed very well and I think it would feel very nice to be in that space.
I just love how all the three of them admired and appreciated each other's designs . They all understood each other's uniqueness ,ideas and functions per elements used....even expressed what they love about the spaces.
I loved the ending, I wasn't expecting all the designers to come together and compliment and critique each other's work. And I loved hearing all the designers describe the space and their reality/materials. It was ethereal ✨️
I feel like Darrens design is under appreciated. I was absolutely starstruck by the way he played with the feeling of the room, making it both functional and sort of like an art installation. Love the way he thought outside of the box, but also brining in inspiration from other famous designers and artists.
The moment Darren added blue carpet, I began begging him to stop flogging a dead horse, it was already dead. To be fair, if he added the bronze mirror BEFORE the blue carpet, I could see it as a hotel lobby bar or something with more relaxing lounge furniture. But then he went all Nickelodeon Channel with the furniture as well.
5:58 Wow did Joy sketch all of that? Despite her grounded approach she definitely put a lot of thought into the interior design of the space. I love seeing these detailed pen renders
I was so shocked to see all the neutral tones in Noz design, then she introduced the color windows and I said, there it is! And it was just what the space needed ❤️❤️❤️
This was a master class in interior design for someone like me. I have a passion for it and I know what I love, but I currently have little practical experience beyond designing a few personal spaces. Among the fun, insightful videos that AD has brought us, this one struck me as particularly inspirational. AD has chosen three really talented designers with distinct views. All three designers had fantastic ideas. They expressed their approach and artistic view with such eloquence. It allowed me to see why they went with those choices. I nodded along as they elaborated on their choices and thought about how it made sense given their artistic POV. And so, whereas I may differ in certain areas, I respect their selections a lot. If I was fortunate to be presented with a choice between the three, I would go Noz Nozawa’s approach as it has a magical blend of calm and playfulness. I love the rounded shapes, natural textures, and purposeful asymmetry.
I agree seeing how they explained their choices and they way they talked about their designs and the emotions that come with them was amazing. It made me feel excited with interior design again which I haven’t been for a while tbh. I loved all of them and for all different reasons and POV’s but the way Darren’s made me feel … it was like a spark it’s so beautiful to see… for all of them
I think Noz's and Darren's designs just wanted to bring out a whimsical idea, and originality. The projects in both their websites are pretty tame but stylish; and Joy's website also has more stylish and daring interiors.
This is G-O-L-D; OmG. I always wanted to see something like this: professionals in interior design and decor doing magic from three different perspectives, styles and methods, each in their own way. My fav style is definitely and 100% attached to Joy's, especially because of the minimalism, the simplicity of the elements and the calm color palettes, but I admit that the projects of the other two designers are very interesting, especially since they are based on exactly the same space. I recently added an Arco lamp from Barcelona Designs to my living room and realized how much I love classic and iconic MCM designs. Amazing video!
What's cool about Noz's is that in the nighttime you would experience that all-white, soft, organic, relaxing vibe, so you're getting a massive visual transformation of the space from the colourful day look. I love both!
Wow, AD -- This was so much fun to make! Thank you for allowing me to take everyone on this fantastical journey through my mind! Brava Noz, Joy, and the whole AD team - X DJ
If you had put in a comfy couch I would have been all in with your design Darren! Where's a girl supposed to drink her wine and then fall asleep in her magical jewelbox apartment with a view?
I absolutely loved your design… I felt a spark by the end of the video because of it. I haven’t felt interested in interior design in a while tbh and watching this video the way you explained your choices and designs it was magical. It made me feel excited again and want to pursue it again. It was really something beautiful the way you made this design thank you 💕
That tinted window was a fun idea. I love how creative the guy got with his design. I just didn't like the colors he chose but creativity wins it for me
I would LOVE to see Darren's takes on his own home, such an interesting envisioning. Joy's take was the most down to earth and actually tangible to do at your own home, love it. And Noz space it's literally like my dream place lol 😂 the tinted windows can feel like a lot sometimes, but I feel like there are alternative ways of recreating the feeling without sacrificing the window, but the idea itself it's incredible, also the materials for each object? Fantastic.
I think softly colored, sheer curtain panels would have been a better alternative to the window tints. Maybe it's my age, but I remember the days when haberdashers (there's a word no one uses anymore) used to tint their store windows like that. I couldn't break the association in my mind.
Darren is an artist - in terms of aesthetic versus staging, it was a joy to watch how he played with period influences and brought something magical to the space.
I like Joy's because I can actually see the full clear view through the windows and feel like I can fully live in it comfortably, it seems very versatile. It also looks fabulously chic too and effortless.
I list these design styles in my stages of life: Noz past: young, earthy, hip, experimental. Darren present: sophisticated, bolder, sexy, adult, expensive. Joy future: tasteful, realistic, thoughtful, practical. But all are creative and chic. Love ❤️
Omg! Darren’s absolute fearlessness has won me over. That space is incredible! I also love how Noz added color at the end with the windows- what an effect 😻
I love the roller coaster of this video. I started thinking I'd hire Noz and love her aesthetic, then was really drawn to Darren's choices and in the end, would want Joy's design that really doesn't fight or alter the original architecture. More of these, please, @architecturaldigest
darren's design is definitely not for everyone, i have to say! its quite harsh and has many colors and it looks more like a recreational space rather than a living space, like a very eccentric restaurant. noz's use of white is genius, and the stained glass idea is also a fantastic way to bring in color into the space. joy's use of texture was super inspiring, im honestly in love w the dining table. they all look like genuinely fun ppl to hang out with and have a chat!! i'd love to see more of this in the future for sure!
It was such a surprise because I was expecting her neutrals to have the function of emphasizing the view. I personally, would want the view, but the way the colors transformed the space was delightful.
i think i'm officially addicted to this series; also i love how darren's is giving blade runner, sci fi, wow. and the mosaic light windows in Noz's was such an interesting way to use light. very impressed with the beauty in the minds eye of all three designers, all so keenly refined.
the rugs with holes is a death trap - will likely get ripped either by a chair leg or human tripping on it. and that sofa - couldn't nap on that. the opulent one is all about the designer's aesthetic (which is fab!) so it leaves little room for the homeowner to express themselves other than through the vision of the designer. the final one is standard issue sound design that's practical, economical, livable - generic done well. i would have liked to have seen the opposite end of the space too and how they dealt with whatever challenges were there. love these videos!
Totally fair, but I mean, the point of this was for them to be creative without needing to cater to a client so the spaces weren’t exactly intended to be liveable. It’s more from a form over function perspective in my opinion.
I love Noz’s. Its so calming to me. Everything else stressed me out majorly; Joy’s was too crowded for me and too harsh, it felt very artificial in a wat (but i absolutely adored some of the colors she was working with), while Darren’s felt… not exactly claustrophobic, but just very uncomfortable and close (but those curtains were breathtaking and very heavenly).
If I am in my 20’s it would Noza’s work, in my 30’s and still single it wouldbe Darren’s, but well I am a mom I would definitely go for Joy’s work. Joy’s is a realistic and has the feeling of “home sweet home”. I love all of thei work! Thank you AD!
All three designers did an amazing job on the use of space. Joy's idea is very practical while Noz's idea is out of this world. I am surprised to say I would totally see myself using Darren's idea.
All the 3 design were gorgeous but I really fell in love with Noz’s design. I loved the way she played with the shape of the fournitures and the lightning
ok Noz was winning by far but she lost me with those colored windows. super interesting perspective of each designer explaining their rationale for doing what they do. would love to see more videos like this!
She considered the outside view in designing her living space but completely ruin the view after that colored window XD. I think Noz win in the kitchen, Daren on window and the rest is Joy.
The fact that Noz and Darren both cover up that million dollar view is sacrilege. Darrens Blue floor is amazing and the reflective warmth on the walls is inspiring, but his design reminds me more of a restaurant I would want to visit , rather than a home. Noz, had the right idea with changing out the island but again, I think most New Yorkers who are paying for a place with floor to ceiling windows, want to see the city , not stained glass. I think Joys design is a bit restrained, but is the only one that respects the buyers investment.
This video reminds me of HGTV's old show "Designers' Challenge"--but with vastly higher budgets lol. Love seeing three designers come up with three very different designs for the same space. I am not nearly bold and extroverted enough to be on board with the Noz's and Darren's designs, though they're both amazingly creative, and prefer Joy's as a space I could actually live in. And I do have one criticism, echoed by others--those rugs with holes in them are absurd. Absolutely a tripping hazard. Still, great job, all three designers!
Joy’s is my favorite because it’s livable, simple, but beautiful - balanced. Darrens design I think takes swanky too far and feels like a beautiful hookah lounge. Noz’s is not my favorite personally, because the rounded shapes and monochromatic vibes get too instagramy, but I can see people loving it. I would replace Joys kitchen art with Nozs kitchen art piece and maybe add Darren’s curtains. More videos like this please ❤️
More of these ! I love how to articulate everything and explain their decision on each piece, finishes and such. From a designer point this video is much appreciated listening to these designers
Joy designs for people who aren’t interested in design… she is the ‘a complete pale blue painting is art’ artist… I paid a designer and got this I would question what a designer does. She seems more like a buyer than a designer.
I LOVED Darren's design so much. The way he played with the space, the mirror, the lightning, and he made it so easy to understand what he did is amazing. As he added things it was like from 0 to 100, loved it
Joy's space is so warm and livable. that one get's my vote! Each of their creations are really interesting and places I'd want to visit, but Joy's is where I'd want to live.
I love that at the end they were very professional on how they critique and compliment each other's work. There is no notion that "mine is better than yours". Just pure love and appreciation. Good job! Btw, Joy's design is the most believable and functional really fit for a couple or family. Noz's has a great vibe and energy with a touch of femininity that fits a young professional with an active lifestyle. Darren's design gives me Christian Grey or Lady Gaga vibes. Sophisticated and elegant ready for an after dinner party.
I absolutely love Noz's design for this! Very understated but still very luxe. Neutrals and organic shapes - my kind of decor for sure. But also love Joy's simple, mid century modern inspired design and Darren's jaw-dropping art deco-esque extravagance. What I love about these three are 1) how much thoughtful art and design pieces Noz incorporates as an homage to amazing craftswomen and how she ties everything so effortlessly, 2) how much Darren literally transforms a blank canvas into a multi-sensory masterpieces with his brilliant mind and gorgeously layered approach, and 3) how much warmth Joy injects into her designs and how much she thinks about the actual lived experiences of someone occupying the space. Best trio ever
Loved watching it, but it didn't take long for all three to go off the rails for me! I liked the room that Darren designed best, without the furniture. The other two were kind of generic looking without the weird furniture. That said, I think these three are awesome designers and I wish them all success!
@@Lucinda_Jackson No, I thought the room was kind of generic. I didn't mind the older lady's furniture choices, they were the best, for me, out of the group. Darren's was my fav, sans furniture. Joy had the best furniture but a generic room colour. Just in my humble opinion.
@@lilitharam44 Yes, of course you were stating your opinion. I just was confused about the “weird furniture” comment in regards to Joy’s room since it was pretty standard stuff. Now Roz definitely had weird furniture!
@@Lucinda_Jackson I agree! I love stained glass but I wouldn't want to obstruct that view with entire windows coloured in! Little too much for everyday use.
The 3rd is a good real life living space. The 2nd (tinted windows) is a good design for an airbnb and the 1st (with those pillow like seats) is a good events place design.
Brilliant concept for a video. Please do it a hundred more times! I'm a design novice and concerned about echo chambers overly influencing my preferences and creative thinking. This kind of video broadens the input so much and is super duper valuable.
When they showed us Darren's previous projects in the introduction, I got the feeling that I would like his output the most. And I was right! I really like classic/traditional East Asian and European styles of architecture and interior design, so I'm in love with the mixture of the low seating and the paintings in those ornate frames in his work. The atmosphere of his design is just... I can't even find the words to describe how much I love it. I'm genuinely considering making my living are look like this when I move (though maybe with different sofas instead of the ones Darren used)
Noz!! I love her. The whole time I was like, wow this is so Scandi and white on white for her and then BAM! Colored light floods the space. Incredible.
Absoutely boring, why would you have a sofa face a wall when the views are breathtaking! Plus, there is no creativity, everyone is able to put a similar layout without needing an interior designer's help...
@@msquie7268 I reacted to the sofa being turned from the view too. And her styling ended up very rectangular shaped, it would have felt much more balanced with rounded backs on the dinner chairs, for example. A couple of big plants and round table lamps on the side table.
Darrens is really cool, at first I thought the furniture was weird but then the way it was decorated and the way the drapes diffused all the lighting made it work so well.
I really like this! This gives much more inspiration than seeing 3 designers do 3 different spaces. All 3 designs were amazing in their own way and I'm really interested in looking into each of the designers now. I would love to see more of this!
I love Darre’s table and fringed low seating, I love Noz’s floating island, her windows, and her choice of lighting and her SOFA. The chairs in Joy’s design with the caning feeling inviting and warm
there are so many things that i loved in all of them and would go on to talk about them all day but one thing i ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH is the low seating of darren's... like i know in technicality it would make the space look higher but man does it look SO SPACIOUS LOVED IT!!
This might be my favourite episode yet. I love how they all see and transform the space in completely different ways. I think Noz's coloured windows were a game changer for the space. The way the colour reflects into the apartment is so fun.
Wow! I really loved this type of video,I hope they make more videos like this. It was very interesting to see how each designer had a very different vision of the same space and it was awesome to see the entire process. Darren’s is so bold and sophisticated Noz’s is so minimalistic and slick Joy’s is very homey and modern The three projects look incredible! They are very talented!
I feel like the key difference in the designs is the approach, Joy's seems more like a day to day living space, like the rest of the place would be one or two bedrooms and bathrooms. For Noz and Darren, it's clearly more of an entertaining area which would be part of those overly extensive appartements where you have a lot of bedrooms, studies and whatnot, which allows the eccentricity since you may not use the room every single day. But all that being said, a stunning job on the renders !!
@@REDnBLACKnRED Eccentric doesn't mean it's not tasteful, it just means that it's something you don't see often. And the liveable part, I feel like the shape of the couch, the holes in the rug, that bump on the table require extra attention and maintenance, which if it were something I had to deal with everyday would get annoying really quickly. It's just a feeling I get from the render, maybe in real life it is very easy to maintain, I can't know that for sure. Designing a living space for me is not just about making it look beautiful, it's more about how it's going to make the actual living easy, practical and comfortable. That's why it feels more like an entertaining space than a living area, but it still looks great. Then again, just sharing my thoughts, not trying to convince you of anything.
@@fmanantsoa It's definitely not for everybody. In contrast to Joy's design, which is quite conservative, Noz's is definitely more avant-garde, but I think it is still conventional in the sense that it still has a relatively conventional layout, and a normal table, with normal chairs. A uniquely shaped sofa but still a usable sofa nonetheless. A usable island. It's just that the pieces chosen are quite unique. I do agree that the carpets with holes are the most impractical choice there, I thought about how the chairs would get caught in them when moving them, or sit unevenly if one of the legs is in the holes while the others aren't. That is definitely a bit eccentric. The tinted windows definitely push it further in that direction. But I'm sure you'd agree, one wouldn't put it close to being anywhere near as eccentric as Darren's. That one is almost outlandish and impractical in everyday contexts, the sofas, the low table, the carpet, the lights, the mirror (imagine cleaning that space!). I suppose it has a lot to do with personal design philosophy. I for one tend to look for unique, sculptural furniture pieces for my home since I like the idea of everything you spend time using to also be a piece of art in its own right, for your space to be a source of creative inspiration, rather than be purely functional. I just never thought of that as being eccentric, perhaps it is!
@@REDnBLACKnRED Totally agree, Darren's is in a league of its own. And you're totally right, it has everything to do with personnal design philosophy, what works for you may totally not for someone else and there's nothing wrong with that, because at the end of the day, if we are talking about the design of personnal space, it has to reflect our taste, priorities, personnalities and all those things, so other's opinions, you do whatever you want those ^^.
Darren's space is chef's kiss! I love bringing oriental touches into my own space because it's my background. However, Joy's space is the most approachable. Though I appreciate that the designers could do anything they wanted to the renderings, I know from renovating my own condo, I appreciated how joy worked with the given layout and architectural materials. As a client redoing these things cost $$$ and I like when designers save as much as they can from a sustainability perspective.
Loved them all but Noz is my favorite ! Although I’m not sure about the colored windows - I’d think I’d get over stimulated by it and miss the natural light.
Interesting how Noz and Darren went almost off-brand with this brief. As a general aesthetic, Noz is closest to my vibe, and altho I found her design too neutral initially, the colored windows almost spoil the effect in the end. Maybe she could have brought in (temporary) color with lighting instead? Darren's is super cool, but is giving me 80's corporate? You can tell he likes looking at himself lol but I would find all those mirrored surfaces off-putting 😬 Joy's was the most practical, but feels a little crowded. Perhaps the barstools could have been simpler? All three are great to visit/party in, but not sure if I would live in any of them. Love that they came together in the end to admire and be inspired by each other's work tho 😊
Noz's design was by far my favorite one. I loved the contrast between the geometrical and linear structure of the loft and the organic-shaped furniture, they look like bubbles, it's so cool. Also love how color is implemented in such an original and creative way. Joy's style of course is more classic, not the one I'd choose to decorate my house, but I also feel that hers is the most practical design. The vibe it gives makes you feel like you are at home, even if it's your first time being there. Realistically, her design is the most profitable one. And, omg Darren's one. I didn't like it at all at first because the fact that he closed the kitchen even more made me feel claustrophobic. However, the more I watch the final result the more I like it. Very original and gives that exotic and luxurious vibe that makes me feel as if I was somewhere in the Middle East/Asia or in a mafia boss house.
An interesting insight to what goes on in a designer's head. Joy has produced a design that could be lived in, but it was rather "tame", "ordinary", "safe". I would not walk into that room and go "oh, they've had a designer in!" Noz's design made me think of a nursery school, due to the curves. It is "uncomfortable", "dangerous", "odd". It is not a place to kick off your shoes and curl up with a good book. It would not be long before someone injured themselves by catching their foot in the holes in the rugs. If I walked into this room I'd go "I wonder what the designer's idea was?" Darren's design for the kitchen, and the ceiling are simply gorgeous. The mirror would not be something that I would choose, seeing myself once a day is enough, but I love the effect. My favourite part is the dining area, though, at my age I'm not sure that I be able to get up without help... The only part that I don't like is the carpet, I'm not a fan of carpet. If I walked into this room, I'd go "wow! What an amazing designer!" If had to choose one for my home, it would, though, be Joy's. At least I could live there.
This should be a series! I love seeing different styles and perspectives of each designer. Some of these designs I wouldn’t have even imagined. Just wow
I love that Joy was like "So we've got the budget for some luxurious pieces, he's how I'll put them together," Joy said "well, I am obsessed with this artist so let's pick up a $6,000 light fixture and just put it riiiight there," and Darren said "we're gonna custom order $50,000 worth of silk and mirrors and custom oxidized metal"
wow i love how they were so different its like each space was for a different mood and vibe -i love how she talked about each room had a focus on light in a different way
yeah darren speaks my language, i love weird and quirky design but the way he mixed materials is what i love so much, brass, marble, mirrors and classical paintings with classical frames, absolutely love that.
I really like this approach of videos with multiple designers/artists. What I love the most is the way they explain WHY the decision was made, makes you see their perspective so much more. It makes you think. Thank you ! And amazing production ofc
Watching this initially the room designs seemed interesting, each for different reasons. When the designers were talking about their approach to the room I became more interested. THEN! they all three discussed the rooms. That was brilliant. Recognizing what others had thought about and how the chose what they did - it was amazing. We need more conversations like this!
I very much appreciate how purposeful and creative these designers were but I would die for another episode of this that is much more attainable and functional! Loved the video truly ❤
omg plsss have more of this type of video… make it a series!! im an interior student and its super interesting finding how professional interior design explain their thought proccess

One critique is that Noz blocked the view with that big couch and the guests backs will be towards the view! And then she blocked the view further with those colour panels.
The island doesn't have any storage. Did seem practical for some one in a smaller space.
@@KimiTheV True! Come to think of it, Noz’s design made me rather nauseous. I didn’t really like any of those designs, TBH
Noz wins for the island-loses for the circus coloured window panes-WTF?

@@alwayspaul Plus, you can still see the buildings, it just tints them in colour.. which makes them look like a retro photograph of the city
The professional renders really help a ton, I'd like to see them in all future videos
Yes! we ought to be able to get a walk through instead of just the 2d still image. Grand Designs manages to give us that so I hope AD can deliver.
For anyone wondering here’s their design style diagnostic (in my opinion)
Noz: Eclectic
Darren: Contemporary and Art Deco
Joy: Scandinavian and Traditional (and some hints of Shabby Chic)

Very apt. Thank you for sharing
Joy is designing a home you live in, Noz is designing a show home for a brochure and Darren is doing a boutique hotel suite
I think you summarized it so well! ur really right
Ok but I'd hands down live in Noz's space.
@@justjulia5116 Noz for me as well lol.
Joy's place is too overwhelming... doesn't seem inviting or warm. Noz's is so relaxing. you can breathe.
I LOVE Noz’s - so fun! Love the shapes and textures- But it needs some colour! Ok - never mind… just watched some more and the coloured windows!! 😂😂
Darren's is very cool, but a super specific vibe. I feel like joys is definitely the most approachable, I could see myself living in it, and Noz's is like if I were the coolest version of myself I would love to live in that space.
Joy is the coolest...
Same!

@@solsiddiq i thought the same, very Tom Ford
Joy simply decorated the space there was no Interior Design happening...
Darren is the kind of guy who you want to design your restaurant/bar etc his taste is above and beyond
Yesss!!
Exactly! I agree
His was my favorite too!
@@EtreTocsin you must not drink red wine or have pets lmao

Inspiring on all fronts.)
completely destroyed the main feature of the apartment - the view
@@JIinuX yeah I get the idea but you can't do that in an apartment with views to the World Trade Center and no balconies!
It feels "realter spec" to me. It's definitely for someone that just wants something easy to come home to after a long day
Well said, Luke. Also, replacing the kitchen peninsula with floating island is a BIG POINT for Noz - access is 🔑
Interesting. I was meh about Noz's until the tinted window panels, and then I LOVED it.
That space needs a beautiful rug with color and/or artwork with color and accessories and pillows that pick up colors of the artwork and rug.

joy's approach is so grounded and practical. the others are waxing philosophical and shes sharing tips on how to keep your sofa from staining
i think she's considering the practicality and budget of a real person's living space, which is an interesting contrast to the others being so Arsty. Joy's feels very lived in

I could binge hours of this!! Really hope it becomes a series.
agreed, we really do need more lovely stuff like this, its super inspiring for interior design
They were probably asked to be polite and not be nasty lol
And get inspired by the other people as well. Things they haven't think of earlier on.
Well said Norma :)
Yes the ending was literally the best like awe we love hyping up each other 🥹🫶🏽😍🤩😌
I feel like Darrens design is under appreciated. I was absolutely starstruck by the way he played with the feeling of the room, making it both functional and sort of like an art installation. Love the way he thought outside of the box, but also brining in inspiration from other famous designers and artists.
Functional? In what world
it's hideous, not functional and living there would physically cause your brain clutter and stress I guarantee you.

Same 🤣
This was a master class in interior design for someone like me.
I loved all of them and for all different reasons and POV’s but the way Darren’s made me feel … it was like a spark it’s so beautiful to see… for all of them
Noz and Darren's designs were really cool but I feel like Joy probably gets more actual work.
I think Noz's and Darren's designs just wanted to bring out a whimsical idea, and originality. The projects in both their websites are pretty tame but stylish; and Joy's website also has more stylish and daring interiors.
Darren's design looks like a zoo
Hate Darren’s - looks like a literal nightmare
@@EH23831 and @rianamohamed You, guys, should visit Chicago's House of Blues ).
Your design was so beautiful! Great job, unlike anything I’ve ever seen on AD.
It was really something beautiful the way you made this design thank you 💕
your design was my favourite by far! i am glad to still see the art deco/70's look still in style.
Your design was my favorite.
Noz's design was by far my favourite, the simplicity of her furniture casted in the colourful light created by the windows is mindblowing
@@MizJilly the curtains are a great idea!
@@MizJilly: the drapes added intimacy to the room that was missing from Noz and Joy's spaces.
I adore all three designs for different reasons. But what I loved most was hearing the rationales behind each choice. Illuminating and inspiring.
I just loved Noz's work...she kept it all white throughout and suddenly out of nowhere she brings colour in dimension.🤩🤩🤩
I don't really like 100% of any of them but my favorite is joy: accessible, livable, practical.
lifeless, joyless , creativity 0% 👌🏻👏🏿🙌

As a student interior designer, these videos really help me. It’s *almost* like apprenticing. I would love to see more videos like this one!
I can't see anybody wanting to have that guy's design in real life
I list these design styles in my stages of life: Noz past: young, earthy, hip, experimental.
YES! Exact same!
I thought there were far too many chairs in Joy's room and wondered if they met the 36" circulation rule.
darren's design is definitely not for everyone, i have to say! its quite harsh and has many colors and it looks more like a recreational space rather than a living space, like a very eccentric restaurant. noz's use of white is genius, and the stained glass idea is also a fantastic way to bring in color into the space. joy's use of texture was super inspiring, im honestly in love w the dining table. they all look like genuinely fun ppl to hang out with and have a chat!! i'd love to see more of this in the future for sure!
the way I GASPED when Noz revealed the coloured windows. So gorgeous.
It was such a surprise because I was expecting her neutrals to have the function of emphasizing the view. I personally, would want the view, but the way the colors transformed the space was delightful.
Who in their right minds would have a view like that altered in some technicolor monstrosity- oh that’s right - you!
i think i'm officially addicted to this series; also i love how darren's is giving blade runner, sci fi, wow. and the mosaic light windows in Noz's was such an interesting way to use light. very impressed with the beauty in the minds eye of all three designers, all so keenly refined.
They all have a unique style, but those colored windows and organic shaped furniture won my heart 💘
I feel like Joy's design is actually more practical and liveable. Nothing over the top, just accurate as it should be. 💫
the rugs with holes is a death trap - will likely get ripped either by a chair leg or human tripping on it. and that sofa - couldn't nap on that. the opulent one is all about the designer's aesthetic (which is fab!) so it leaves little room for the homeowner to express themselves other than through the vision of the designer. the final one is standard issue sound design that's practical, economical, livable - generic done well. i would have liked to have seen the opposite end of the space too and how they dealt with whatever challenges were there. love these videos!
That’s exactly what I thought about the rug! Death trap!
best comment i’ve read.
Totally agree! The space doesn't look like a place to live in, but to host in. Which is a shame with the change made to the peninsula.
I would have moved in, tripped and impaled on my fork with in 15mins.
Noz is so smart and you can just tell she really knows her stuff. She knows all the rules so she knows how to break em
I love seeing three incredible designers showcase their perspectives on the same space. I would love love love to see more videos like this!
All three designers did an amazing job on the use of space. Joy's idea is very practical while Noz's idea is out of this world. I am surprised to say I would totally see myself using Darren's idea.
Darren’s design is everything I’ve ever wanted. I would love a whole series of this!
I hated them at first too but they do have a cool effect
Didn't like them at first but they grew on me. I'd prefer Darren's windows tho
No way would they fly in such a high end, massive windowed space.
She considered the outside view in designing her living space but completely ruin the view after that colored window XD. I think Noz win in the kitchen, Daren on window and the rest is Joy.
I felt the opposite! I was really disliking her choices but as soon as she put the windows in, it all made sense!
Joy's design is clean, realistic, and sophisticated. Noz's design would be a good kids' space. Darren's design has a Vegas hotel vibe.
Kids? With all that white??? You’re brave lol
@@-Bloomingtales Lol...not all kids write on walls and furniture. 🙂

Noz sounds so intelligent and I loved her colorless colorful design of the space
I feel like Joy is someone who designs for the everyday person and I really like that. Noz lost me at the circle cutouts in the rugs.
Exactly! It is a tripping harzard and the holes would get worse over time.
Joy designs for people who aren’t interested in design… she is the ‘a complete pale blue painting is art’ artist… I paid a designer and got this I would question what a designer does. She seems more like a buyer than a designer.
Joy’s design looks like an Airbnb. Very landlord-core
ya joy’s room is giving upper middle class boomer
Which will get bigger as chairs get caught in holes.
I LOVED Darren's design so much. The way he played with the space, the mirror, the lightning, and he made it so easy to understand what he did is amazing. As he added things it was like from 0 to 100, loved it
I like how appreciative they are of one another, though their styles are completely different.
You thought Joy’s room had “weird furniture”??
@@Lucinda_Jackson No, I thought the room was kind of generic. I didn't mind the older lady's furniture choices, they were the best, for me, out of the group. Darren's was my fav, sans furniture. Joy had the best furniture but a generic room colour. Just in my humble opinion.
@@lilitharam44
Yes, of course you were stating your opinion.
Little too much for everyday use.
living in noz's space would be so relaxing. the organic nature of the furniture feels so pleasing...
The 3rd is a good real life living space. The 2nd (tinted windows) is a good design for an airbnb and the 1st (with those pillow like seats) is a good events place design.
I love how they hype each other up and compliment each other on specific elements. The sign of true passionate professionals! ❤
I'm genuinely considering making my living are look like this when I move (though maybe with different sofas instead of the ones Darren used)
I love all their initial takes on the space. "It's a box," "This has potential," "I love it." So brief but really reflects their styles
Noz!! I love her. The whole time I was like, wow this is so Scandi and white on white for her and then BAM! Colored light floods the space. Incredible.
Joy's space is practical, for practical people. seems quite overwhelming and boring though. Noz's is a dream. so comfortable, so inviting, so warm.
Hi, check out these designs. ruclips.net/video/RDQ0eGrUb84/видео.html
I love Darre’s table and fringed low seating, I love Noz’s floating island, her windows, and her choice of lighting and her SOFA. The chairs in Joy’s design with the caning feeling inviting and warm
Darrens might not be my style but I loved seeing a bold and very unique design.
there are so many things that i loved in all of them and would go on to talk about them all day but one thing i ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH is the low seating of darren's... like i know in technicality it would make the space look higher but man does it look SO SPACIOUS LOVED IT!!
I absolutely love Noz’s design… So stunning! It’s such an art piece itself and I love the window and clay art on the walls
This might be my favourite episode yet. I love how they all see and transform the space in completely different ways. I think Noz's coloured windows were a game changer for the space. The way the colour reflects into the apartment is so fun.
I like Noz’s the best but they all did so well! I really would love to live any of these spaces. Awesome comparison between artists.
Please make this a series; I would be so excited to follow it. Noz for the win 🥇.
Wow!
I really loved this type of video,I hope they make more videos like this.
It was very interesting to see how each designer had a very different vision of the same space and it was awesome to see the entire process.
Darren’s is so bold and sophisticated
Noz’s is so minimalistic and slick
Joy’s is very homey and modern
The three projects look incredible!
They are very talented!
Those colored windows!!! 😍😍😍 they need to be made into ”blinds”
I wouldn't call Noz's design eccentric if it weren't for the coloured windows, without that it's actually a very tasteful, liveable space.
Though Noz’s design is my favorite, I think all three designers really crafted a beautiful space.
I would not walk into that room and go "oh, they've had a designer in!"
Noz's design made me think of a nursery school, due to the curves. It is "uncomfortable", "dangerous", "odd". It is not a place to kick off your shoes and curl up with a good book. It would not be long before someone injured themselves by catching their foot in the holes in the rugs. If I walked into this room I'd go "I wonder what the designer's idea was?"
Darren's design for the kitchen, and the ceiling are simply gorgeous. What an amazing designer!"
If had to choose one for my home, it would, though, be Joy's. At least I could live there.
Love joys design...it's very warm, comforting..
This should be a series! I love seeing different styles and perspectives of each designer. Some of these designs I wouldn’t have even imagined. Just wow
I love that Joy was like "So we've got the budget for some luxurious pieces, he's how I'll put them together," Joy said "well, I am obsessed with this artist so let's pick up a $6,000 light fixture and just put it riiiight there," and Darren said "we're gonna custom order $50,000 worth of silk and mirrors and custom oxidized metal"
wow i love how they were so different its like each space was for a different mood and vibe -i love how she talked about each room had a focus on light in a different way
I really enjoy this episode. To me, Joy certainly have a design that I love. It is warm and inviting.
yeah darren speaks my language, i love weird and quirky design but the way he mixed materials is what i love so much, brass, marble, mirrors and classical paintings with classical frames, absolutely love that.
I love different elements of each designer's concept!
Please upload more such “3 designers transform ” videos. They’re a joy to watch!
I really like this approach of videos with multiple designers/artists.
What I love the most is the way they explain WHY the decision was made, makes you see their perspective so much more. It makes you think.
Thank you !
And amazing production ofc
I love how creative and out of the box these designers are. So different and so inspiring.
I love Noz' lighting, but Darren's design is totally my style!
omg plsss have more of this type of video… make it a series!! im an interior student and its super interesting finding how professional interior design explain their thought proccess
