Question: If the body and soul make up a person, then what is to be said if someone is brain dead (but still alive) and someone ‘pulls the plug’ while the soul is STILL in the body? Did they interrupt God’s plan? Are THEY held responsible?

Hello Fr Jeremy Davis. Thanks for your insightful video. I want to ask you. Will Jesus Christ also judge non Christians such as Jews, Muslims and Buddhists ? how will they be judged ?

There is a mentioning in the Holy Bible of the " Great White Throne Judement " , which the judgement of condemnation for those who rejected Christ. This is supposed to happen in 1,000 years from the first resurrection of the dead.

One thing I don't get is:
He lets people make a choice to be wicked in conditions where it's not easy to make the right choice as it's so confusing, the world, etc...
And then he forces them to live in such a way where they will endlessly suffer forever cause they made a choice to love without God yet they can't. He also forces people to exist in the first place.
You said people will want to die but won't be able to - so, basically they're forced to live. Their freedom of choice is denied.

    Friends of Angels
    💞
Book of Enoch 104:1 (Apocryphal Old Testament)
"I swear unto you, that in heaven the angels remember you for good before the glory of the Great One: and your names are written before the glory of the Great One. Be hopeful; for aforetime ye were put to shame through ill and affliction; but now ye shall shine as the lights of heaven, ye shall shine and ye shall be seen, and the portals of heaven shall be opened to you. And in your cry, cry for judgement, and it shall appear to you; for all your tribulation shall be visited on the rulers, and on all who helped those who plundered you. Be hopeful, and cast not away your hopes for ye shall have great joy as the angels of heaven. What shall ye be obliged to do? Ye shall not have to hide on the day of the great Judgement and ye shall not be found as sinners, and the eternal judgement shall be far from you for all the generations of the world. And now fear not, ye righteous when ye see the sinners growing strong and prospering in their ways: be not companions with them, but keep afar from their violence; for ye shall become companions [friends] of the hosts [Angels] of heaven."
    👣
First Epistle of the Blessed Clement 4:27-32 (Apocryphal New Testament)
"He who covets for himself these things so great and excellent, withdraws and severs himself on this account from all the world, that he may go and live a life divine and heavenly, like the holy angels, in work pure and holy, and "in the holiness of the Spirit of God," and that he may serve God Almighty through Jesus Christ for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. On this account he severs himself from all the appetites of the body. And not only does he excuse himself from this command, "Be fruitful, and multiply," but he longs for the "hope promised" and prepared "and laid up in heaven" by God, who has declared with His mouth, and He does not lie, that it is "better than sons and daughters," and that He will give to virgins a notable place in the house of God, which is something "better than sons and daughters," and better than the place of those who have passed a wedded [married] life in sanctity, and whose "bed has not been defiled." For God will give to virgins the kingdom of heaven, as to the holy angels, by reason of this great and noble profession."
    👑
Recognitions - The Saints Before Christ’s Coming (Apocryphal New Testament):
Peter: "Whoever should be found righteous, should remain longer in the body; or, at least, as is clearly related in the writings of the law concerning a certain righteous man [Enoch?], that God translated him. In like manner others were dealt with, who pleased His will, that, being translated to Paradise, they should be kept for the kingdom. But as to those who have not been able completely to fulfil the rule of righteousness, but have had some remnants of evil in their flesh, their bodies are indeed dissolved, but their souls are kept in good and blessed abodes, that at the resurrection of the dead, when they shall recover their own bodies, purified even by the dissolution, they may obtain an eternal inheritance in proportion to their good deeds. And therefore blessed are all those who shall attain to the kingdom of Christ"
    🍎
The Book of Enoch 100:5 (Apocryphal Old Testament):
"And over all the righteous and holy He will appoint guardians from amongst the holy angels to guard them as the apple of an eye, Until He makes an end of all wickedness and all sin, And though the righteous sleep a long sleep [died], they have nought to fear."
    😇👼
The Essene Gospel of Peace Book Two - The Angel of Eternal Life (Essenic Gospels & Writings)
"Do not wait for death to reveal the great mystery; If you know not your Heavenly Father while your feet tread the dusty soil, there shall be naught but shadows for thee in the life that is to come. Here and now is the mystery revealed. Here and now is the curtain lifted. Be not afraid, O man! Lay hold of the wings of the Angel of Eternal Life, and soar into the paths of the stars, the moon, the sun, and the endless Light, moving around in their revolving circle forever, and fly toward the Heavenly Sea Of Eternal Life..."
    🎁
    John 11:25-26 (Canonical New Testament):
Jesus: "I am the resurrection and the life. The person who believes in me, even though he dies, will live. Indeed, everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe that?"
    🐑
Revelation of St. John the Theologian 586:1 (Apocryphal New Testament):
Jesus: "As I said before, And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold, that is, men who have been made like the angels through their excellent course of life; them also must I bring, and they will hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, one shepherd."

    Genesis 5:24 (Canonical Old Testament):
"Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."
    🌍
    Esdras 6:25-26 (Deuterocanonical Old Testament)
"And it shall be [at the end] that whoever remains after all that I have foretold to you shall himself be saved and shall see my salvation and the end of my world. And they shall see the men who were taken up, who from their birth have not tasted death; and the heart of the earth's inhabitants shall be changed and converted to a different spirit..."
    💭
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (Canonical New Testament):
"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep [died]. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words..."

To answer the lady's question at time stamp 21 minutes. The physical flesh body of man is not required to disobey God in sin any more than Lucifer had a physical flesh body when he made the first sin of pride. For pride is a sin of the conscious will which some say is the spirit and others say is the soul. When Lucifer and his fallen angels were thrown into hell did they have physical bodies or just Spirit bodies? Is it not true that both the demons and Lucifer or suffering in hell now? Ask yourself is it required to have an actual flesh body to suffer in hell?
Jesus was born of a woman flesh with the holy spirit of God yet Jesus's physical flesh was that of a mortal man. After Jesus's resurrection his flesh was no longer that of a mortal man but a incorruptible immortal body that was able to walk through walls and Ascend into heaven. The same was true when Abraham greeted the three and he called the one Lord when they were on their way to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord Jesus and his two angels had that same type of Incorruptible body and Sarah fed them cakes and milk to eat. The same was true when Jesus ate fish after his resurrection with his disciples to prove he was not a ghost. Therefore in the Resurrection the new bodies will be those of Incorruptible bodies as described above and not actually their original flesh because to do so would be redundant.
The one mystery I have not come to realize yet is why would people going to hell be given bodies of uncorrupt ability when even the Devil Himself and his demons who are there already never had a body to begin with other than the spiritual body? The Consciousness and self-awareness of the Soul does not require a body to suffer I assure you that. Because all men already have a spirit body which is in their breath that leaves their physical fleshly body at the moment of death. I assure you the time that one spins in Haiti's awaiting the Judgment Day will have already been suffering mentally and emotionally from Despair and anguish and regret which these things in themselves a living hell of the conscience Spirit or soul depending on who you ask.

I believe your conference present a very good detail on the orthodox view of the afterlife, just after a person passes away. But I still do not understand why orthodox pray for their departed. According to your lecture, there is nothing we, the people who remain on earth could do for the soul of the departed so I reckon the value of those prayers is embedded in the timeless “life of God”. We ask for their repentance that already occurred before death and the merits of the prayer were applied in the pass that for God is an “eternal present”. However, I listened to a lectured by Father Nikon of Holy Mountain that praying to God and the Saints to remember the departed we can still make their souls go get some forgiveness from God while in the intermediate state called Paradise (also known by other names). He recommends using the Komboskini to make good prayer for the departed remembering their names on the first bead and saying at the end of the Jesus Prayer “remember, remember, remember” on the other beads. Could you comment on this please?

Hi, your question been there for two years, hope you found the answer, but I like to say with my little info the reason we pray for the dead cause they can't pray for themselves and ask for forgiveness. They only can pray for us and watch over us, party of their jobs then.

You said that there is no need for eating after we get our resurrected body, then why did Jesus eat with his apostles after he rose from the dead ?

    • @TheRadChadDad
      @TheRadChadDad 3 года назад +8

Jesus ate publicly after his resurrection in order to show the disciples that His glorified, resurrected body has a material form. He also had Thomas touch his body. The theological point is that Jesus was not just a spirit or ghost after his resurrection. The resurrected body is incorruptible and physical. Christ did not have to eat, He chose to eat in order to show everyone that His appearances were not just apparitions, but that He had truly, physically, risen from the dead, and “trampled down death by death”.

Immortality is the blessed hope of Christians. The damned will not be granted this. They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire where they will be destroyed along with the devil and the demons.

    What Happens In Death
    💘
2 Esdras 7:75-101 (Deuterocanonical Old Testament)
Ezra: "I answered [Archangel Uriel] and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?"
He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times.
Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High.
    😢
And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear God -- such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways.
    • The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High.
    • The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live.
    • The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High.
    • The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days.
    • The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet.
    • The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments.
    • The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times.

"Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body.
During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly.
Therefore this is the teaching concerning them:
First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders.
    • The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death.
    • The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the ungodly wander, and the punishment that awaits them.
    • The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust.
    • The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days.
    • The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality.
    • The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on.
    • The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified.
    🏁
This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter."
I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?"
He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations..."
