    "i was born Nov 13, 1963.
"Raised in South Central Los Angeles, by a phenomenal single, working-class, mother. Cut my teeth in the hostile gang culture in South Central from the mid-70's til the late 80's. Was introduced to the New Afrikan Independence Movement, by way of the Spear & Shield Collective, in 1986, while in the SHU at San Quentin. It was also in 1986 that i became a Shakur. I am a founding cadre of the August Third Collective and a combatant in the New Afrikan Peoples Liberation Army.
"I have had an indeterminate SHU term since 1989, for being a threat to the safety and security of the institution - presumably CDCR, though i suspect it's the institution of capitalism. I am an author that has produced pieces for various movement publications over the years as well as a couple of books. Currently working with Kersplebedeb Publishing & Distribution to publish a collection of writings done here in Pelican Bay Security Housing Unit."
Sanyika Shakur was released from PB-SHU in Black August 2012.
In this interview, Shakur discusses his personal social development, his time in Pelican Bay-SHU, the 2011 California prisoners' hunger strikes, the effects of long-term isolation torture, New Afrikan nationalism, communism, and the struggle against gender oppression.

It's peculiar and speaks to the failure of the U.S. judicial system, when someone can enter incarceration a knowledgeable individual like he was here and yet depart as an addict of substance abuse, how does that happen? Sanyika shakur was continually incarcerated until he reached rock bottom and now that he's there, for some strange reason the authorities don't bother him any longer. Seems like a systematic destruction.
That also speaks to how poorly mental health patients are treated in this nation. Rehabilitation is a mere concept in america and does not exist in any system, it's a completely self dependent process that systems will credit themselves with, and only pulls out it's most effective practices for those with six figures and beyond to spend getting the assistance that they're entitled to as human beings.

Cooley96 Recidivism rates are too high for anything to be corrected. Corrections is a label used so the public votes in favor of legislation and candidates supporting the prison industry. That way our taxes continue funding this machine and they can add more private prisons from CoreCivic and Geo Group with immigration policies as the front. There won’t be more public outrage until immigration policy targets illegal european aliens, which we know won’t happen.

You need a mixed economy. Both pure capitalism and pure socialism have their shortcomings. Most countries that are developed have some degree of capitalism and socialism(including the U.S.).
As far as Black people and capitalism. I think instead of trying to bring about a communist system in the U.S,that is very unlikely to happen,it will be better to teach Blacks how to operate smarter in capitalism. The main problem with Black communities is that the Black dollar isn't circulating in the Black community like dollars do in other communities. This keeps Black communities poorer than they should be. Blacks need to own more businesses. Blacks need ownership in their communities similar to the level of Chinese ownership in Chinatown.

I would NOT consider this unbiased journalism. Nor is it an unbiased interview. The the questions that are being presented are what we call in the legal world,....."leading questions". Which means you frame questions in such a way as to solicit a particular response and/or answer. Which is considered deceitful in a court of law and/or in a simple interview. Interesting language Mr. Shakur is using as well. Very interesting.

I would hope one day Cody Scott will see his primary purpose in life is to live a Crime Free life and he has no opinion on outside issues. It appears someone changed his gangsters mentality to another fighters mentality. The revolutionary. I'm hoping one day he will see he doesnt have to fight anymore. Unless protecting oneself of physical harm. He has great ideas for social change. As recovering gangsters we have found that many like to use us as tools for their adventures. Our old timers keep a simple life...home to work to a meeting then home again. Every now and then we hit a movie or dinner. We keep it very simple.

In 2011 where he talks about the hunger strikes I was still incarcerated at new Delano level 4 180. We also participated in the hunger strikes as well. But I remember them coming around with something for us to sign and the paper basically said that if we don’t eat they’ll start force feeding us.smh, of course no one signed that bullcrap😂 but I do remember them reaching some negotiations and next thing you know a few people who had been validate and been in the shu for 20 30 years plus started finally hitting the main line.

adangme yeah fr, hard to follow a guy who killed 20+ of his own brothers for a “war”. Stomped on guys heads, shot em in front of they families, went to the extreme to make his name. Intelligent guy but he’s got a serious demon that will always live deep inside him, he gave his soul to the devil a long time ago as an 11 year old.
