Good luck on the toughest job you'll ever love. I HAVE BEEN OFF GRID FOR 19 YRS AND HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK. I'M IN NORTHERN New Mexico. AGAIN..... GOOD LUCK.
The guys that delivered your tiny home are amazing. It’s always inspiring to see people overcome challenges and fears. As a mother with kids about the same age, I wanted to give them both hugs and tell them I was so proud of them!
The high desert of New Mexico was a great choice for a base camp! Lots of sun, doesn't get too much snow and the summers are somewhat "mild" as compare to other parts of the southwest, plus there is a ton of places to see and explore.
Wow!! When I first watched your channel, Nate, you seemed like this typical San Francisco ambiguous techie (not sure of the techie part) with no allegiances, no history, nothing to pin down. I was shocked that you were from MA, which usually means the polar opposite & when you & Shannon finally hitched your wagons to each other; you both showed such a love for life on this earth. More than any channel I've seen, you seem guided to a beautiful full life-for your own love of life; not views or content; but for true love of the things you know.
Very exciting your new adventure, will it be all off the grid. That's a beautiful spot to wake I'm in the morning ,can't wait to see all the changes you make.Congratulatios Dale
The hauler dude was awesome. Stand up guy. Not an easy haul for sure. You are lucky to have had him regardless of the miscommunication. Props to them. Cool location.
As someone who has watched you from the beginning (under the username ShortBusHippies), I can say that it's been amazing watching your journey from the Element days to now. Very excited to see this chapter unfold. I rarely comment, but I watch every video and I just want you to know that you guys are inspiring. Best of luck on this next adventure! Looking forward to seeing what's next!
I've been watching your show since you were driving around in the very first Element and I can only say it keeps getting better. The best thing you've done is find a really good woman to share your life, and now you've even put down roots with the very first home you can call your own. Congratulations on both! I'm looking forward to whatever adventures await you in the future and lots more videos to watch.
Yippee!! I teared up watching the delivery. I'm so glad you guys had a good driver and the house wasn't damaged in any way. Welcome to the "no grid" life. I live no grid in the Arizona high mountains and LOVE it! Looking forward to your future videos! Fun to watch how other people are managing the "no grid" life. You guys are a great team👍💕
I am glad the delivery guys were so cool and took good care of your tiny home, getting it to you safely despite how nervous it made them. Surely it put your mind at great ease when it finally arrived and you got to see them again in person with your tiny house baby. What a great new chapter in your lives you have ahead with this community you are planning. Now, on to a stronger wifi signal and the purchase of lots of large water storage containers...lol!
Sounds like you are in the middle of nowhere so make sure you have enough emergency first aid supplies on hand (especially snake bite kits, etc.) Quite a change from the mobile lifestyle you had been living so hope you don't get bored out there (before you get your truck to become mobile again.) Congratulations on this new adventure.
The driver is such a good dude. He took great care of your home. He better tell Mom to get used to him hauling the big stuff because he's about to get some business after this vid.
Part of my family is from New Mexico, southern NM (Silver City, Mimbres areas). It's beautiful there, I remember spending a few years growing up there, we'd go foraging for piñon (pine) nuts and find real turquoise everywhere on the ground! It was the beautiful skies that I remember most. My brother and niece still live there. I need to go back and visit.
The guy who delivered the tiny house had me laughing out loud! I am also THAT mother. I would have been begging him to turn around, too. LOL. He’s blessed to have a family who loves him so much, and y’all are blessed that he decided to venture outside of his comfort zone. Win Win for everyone !👍
I have a home in LV Nevada, and a home in Sante Fe NM. I can’t tell you what a great choice you made. People always assume the desert is ugly. Just like people think all of Nevada is LV. But away from the cities are beautiful locations like yours. Best of luck to you both!
Wow. I have been watching you since the element days Nate. The freedom you had with your car home and now out in the middle of nowhere in the high desert. What a change. Good luck. And no. Those trees won’t grow fast. That’s it. Lol.
Wow.... The Tiny House Made it in Good Shape..... That's a pretty Windy area..... You may want to call the Weather Station to find out what Direction the Worst Winds are from... & Position the Tiny House however best to Avoid Blowing Over...... All those Shrubs were Planted.... by Pack Rats..... So you'll Need to Protect Your Car's Engine.... Life will be Very Different.... Good Luck.....
You need lots of firewood, several propane tanks, a propane heater for each cabin, a decent sized battery bank, an inverter generator (2kw), many liters of petrol for the generator, multiple long extention cords and lots of water for drinking and showers. Being off grid means hauling a lot of supplies to your cabins on a regular basis. Edit: If you can afford it, I would have bought a big shipping container for all the supplies you will be needing. It can double as a work shop before it gets too full of stuff :-)
Congratulations on this new adventure in your lives! The cabin looks to be in great shape and you have that big water tank out there wonder if you can get water delivery there. Can't wait to see what you do out there. Just leave the cabin doors open! Shout out to the guys who brought the Tiny House all the way out there. His story was hilarious!
Wow, Congratulations! This is so amazing. What a magnificent parcel of land you two have acquired. May you continue to have many wonderful adventures together as you start this new chapter in your lives.
Hey buddy, You got that deer in the headlights look to you today. Sure you know what you got yourself into? I wish you folks all the luck in the world. As an old guy that's lived in the brush all my life. Get to know your neighbors; if you have any! Watch and observe what they do. Listen to what they have to say, and use what you can. Cut a lot of firewood if you plan on staying most of the winter. Make sure you've got plenty of beans, rice, and flour. LOL!
Super crazy bro, I've been with you since the beginning! I remember you being in your element traveling, saying how much you love this lifestyle. Now you're here, you got a good woman who shares your interest in this lifestyle, and now some land. Congrats you guys, I envy you for getting land. I want some land myself, but in time I'll vet there. Again, congrats you guys! Things will only go up from here!
The cabin is beautiful the scenery amazing but nothing, nothing beats the delivery story epic for sure. 🤣 How awesome for you, can I join you. ☺️ Tiny cabin full tour please.
Congratulations! You should become Preppers and have a out building for supply storage. That way you don't have to make a lot of trips to the store. Develop it into your sanctuary. Shannon build a deck & you won't need to worry about the cactus welcome mat.
Little House on the Prairie!!!! Pa, Ma, no Laura😁😁😁😁 This is going to be quite the adventure & I can't wait to see it every step of the way. You guys are really living life, bravo.✌💕
Wow I love this but hope you do have water now. Shannon you can put a desk right in front of the big window. What a view. Did notice you have a stove to stay warm during the winter. Now to collect wood. Thanks and enjoyed. Hugs to both.
Awesome spot!!! ..and welcome to New Mexico! My wife and I moved here 3 years ago and built a tiny off-grid house very similar to yours in the Pecos Valley area.. stoked to see people living their dreams ✌
Oh wow what a perfect little home ! Congrats guys . U will figure it all out as u go . I look forward to watching ur journey. Thanks for sharing ~Vicky & Terry 💫
Wow! Totally unexpected. Man I bet you will make this place pretty great. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Definitely go Starlink when available!
Good luck on the toughest job you'll ever love.
I HAVE BEEN OFF GRID FOR 19 YRS AND HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK.

LOL!!! The mover brightened my day. I couldn't stop laughing. His poor mama. LOL
New Mexico is awesome, I sold all my other properties and relocated to NM a year ago to build Airbnb village, so far the best decision ever!
That's great to hear , what part of NM??
@@doneown503 Southern NM
Big hugs to your hauler guys. May they get home safe and sound.
The backstory on the dude hauling your trailer arguing with his mom, LMAO DED!!!!
It was pretty hilarious haha
My life is running parallel to yours. From camping in a Honda Element to off gridding on Western prairie land! Love it!
The hauler dude was awesome. Stand up guy. Not an easy haul for sure. You are lucky to have had him regardless of the miscommunication. Props to them. Cool location.
You've been talking about the tiny house thing for a long time now, and you've finally made it happen. Congrats!
Beautiful land. Can't wait to hear the story of how you arrived at the decision to start this adventure!
As someone who has watched you from the beginning (under the username ShortBusHippies), I can say that it's been amazing watching your journey from the Element days to now. Same. I've been watching for like two years, but rarely comment.
Same here I don’t comment. But very happy for you. I have been watching you for years!!
I'll be the 4th with the same comment! :)

Been watching vanlife videos for years
This is by far my all time favorite !!!
Awesome
Your living for the Sunrise’s of Life and the Evening Nites of the Stars Rising Above you. Bless you both on your new Adventures.
I love her enthusiasm!

Small is good - and with your creative know how, the sky's the limit !
I've found medium works best.
New Mexico is magical.I lived in Santa Fe for eight years.
She looks happy that's so cool
I am so freaking excited for you. I knew NM would be the choice. Good job!
Love the new location

Good Morning Nate and Shannon Congratulations on getting the tiny house their super happy for you
What an awesome next adventure. Been with you since the beginning and can’t wait to see what happens next! Looks like a beautiful location.
Glad it made it in one piece and it was funny how the shippers mom was freaking out
That driver was awesome 👏😂🤣✌🏻
I love New Mexico can't wait to move back there, just subscribed
That is the cutest cabin! And the view is to die for. I’m jealous Lol. How wonderful for you! I bet the night sky is amazing
Adorable video! The conversation with the driver was so funny I watched it twice!! 😂👍💜

I've been silently watching for years, and it's incredible how far you've come. Huge congrats!

One thing at a time!! Good grief!! Give them a break!! They know what they are doing.
Damn good advice
Shipping container is so handy, can double as a storage shed & shop with work bench...spray foam insulation kit
Great advice
I wondered how long it would take for someone to tell them what they need and what they need to do!
Cold in the winter. Hot in the summer. Windy often. Dry except when monsoon flooding. Good luck and enjoy the adventure.
I live in the high desert of New Mexico, and I recommend waiting before enlarging the other window, The heat can get really intense.
Well, We know Nate won’t have a Need for his Surfboard anytime soon. This Van Life Channel has Morphed into a Off-Grid Survival Channel Quickly.
That ski resort at the 10 second mark in the distance is sandia peak. May not be near the water to surf, but you can surf some snow in winter!
That is WAY too funny!!! 😂 Love Moms 💕💕
Wow, Congratulations! This is so amazing. What a magnificent parcel of land you two have acquired. May you continue to have many wonderful adventures together as you start this new chapter in your lives.
So cool, can’t wait to see what the future holds for you guys
You guys look excited and nervous at the same time, especially Nate. Jumping into the deep end
Wow, what an ADVENTURE!
I wish I was in the delivery dude’s family. They sound like legends.
So you are in the desert of New Mexico. Rooting in your new life there. 👍👍
Wow! Beautiful property!
Those mountains! The desert is a special place ♥️
Hey buddy,
You got that deer in the headlights look to you today.
LOL!
How exciting to see the Tiny house pull up! You both are full of surprises!!❤️
Omg, so super jealous you have no idea. May you have many years of wonderful and happy memories, NJ.
I was going to say, looks like New Mexico, welcome neighbors!
I'm so excited for you guys! The World is your Oyster or Cacti! LOL! Have fun and keep documenting your Journey! We love it!

My only words... Wow!!!
Beautiful, very happy for you both. Sending love from the Philippines.
Wow I love this but hope you do have water now. Shannon you can put a desk right in front of the big window. What a view. Did notice you have a stove to stay warm during the winter. Now to collect wood. Thanks and enjoyed. Hugs to both.
I moved to my new house couple of months ago and I'm so happy 😊 that you both found a nice place for a new life ahead just like me
Seems most of the vanlifers I have watch have the same game plan. Spend a few years on the road and then find some land somewhere and make home.
... this is incredible, I'm so happy for you two! awesome adventure, thanks for sharing!
Awesome spot!!! ..and welcome to New Mexico! My wife and I moved here 3 years ago and built a tiny off-grid house very similar to yours in the Pecos Valley area.. stoked to see people living their dreams ✌
It's been a heck of a journey and great adventure from the start of your van life to here for y'all. Can't wait for the continuation...
