    One thing I think you could have covered is depth versus breadth in a magic system. The difference between many different powers and the multiple methods of manipulating a single or few powers. Like Naruto versus Fire Force.

    honestly been wanting to make a power system myself, and still trying to add a few other cool ideas that overall fit the general theme of the story (the story itself takes inspiration from Mythology and folklore, as well as a bit from D&D, with the main idea being Radiation-like energy that can give powers). besides the common stuff like energy manipulation, flight, etc. I also added a few things that currently have a few names like "Boons" or "Gifts", which are a bit like Kenkai Genkai or Clan-specific techniques, but can theoretically be used by anyone as long as certain qualifications are met and aren't as Absurd compared to something like the Sharigan or Six-eyes. Currently, theres not many of them, but there is stuff like Animal speech (which requires someone to be a gentle person), the many different eyes (which vary, but a few include the Evil eyes, Wedjat Eyes, Third eye, and Divine/ Bifrost Eyes), Walking on Water, or even just being ridiculously gifted in one specific field to the point of being able to perform certain impossible feats (ex. being so strong you can kill elephants or being so good with music you can charm inanimate objects), along with others I might come up with later.

    Overall balance is good but it’s not an absolute the problem with overpowered ability’s are 1 if you want that character to lose its incredibly hard to make happen 2 fights with that character are hard to make interesting but both of those problems can be sidestepped with clever writing some of the powers you listed in ability’s that were to op didn’t cause narrative problems in there story’s 1 made in heaven had a Believable defeat at the hands of a power weaker than it it’s fight was creative and the party turned the stand on its user multiple times examples would include Jolene warping her stand around the Dolphin to accelerate herself at the same speed as MIH and emporio Turning there in the poison that was accelerated into killing Pucci 2 copy sufferers from nether problem as well in one of your videos you Dissected the tactics of a fight yuta was in so it’s got creativity covered also yuta was not only defeated convincingly but he even had help when he lost as for the others you mentioned ya Susanoo turned fights into power levels the world was so broken Jotaro had to be given the same power and limitless was so op that domain amplification had to be introduced just to counter it and even then sukuna had to be given a power that came out of nowhere to win that fight

    Great video but sometimes having powers that are far more powerful than others is an intentional and good writing choice. It just depends on the story and the characters.

    • @ClaustroPasta
      @ClaustroPasta 3 месяца назад

      Far more powerful (in one aspect)? Sure. Convenient cure-all or beats all? Lazy, uncreative and will bite the authors back in the future, especially when they have favourites.
      Lazy powercreeping ≠ Raising the stakes.
      How to spot a lazy powercreeping, it's when the majority of the cast have no agency towards a big baddy no matter what they do (or theoretically could do) except ofc for the MC/Author's favourite character (not all MC are favoured by their author).

    • @questionable4604
      @questionable4604 3 месяца назад

      @@ClaustroPasta I'm sorry, but you're putting a lot of words in my mouth and making a lot of general assumptions. My point is that you can have a power that is far more powerful than others in 1 or more aspects and make that work in a story. For example, most JoJo's Bizarre Adventure antagonists are far more powerful than the protagonist but they still work in the context of their stories. Another good example would be Jujutsu Kaisen, in which there is an "imbalance" between the power levels of different abilities but it is intentional and plays into the themes and tone of the series.

    Uhmmm... Actually, you could call Hamon and Stand the energy-drained type system.
    Hamon is technically Ki but has to activate by breathing (because it's inspired by "Fist of the North Star" and Dragon Ball"). When you can't breathe and are tired, you can't use Hamon properly (that's one of the definitions for the "meditation" in the Ki concept of our Eastern cultures).
    Stand is the more tricky one because not only are they the spiritual souls that enhance your stamina in general but also Araki doesn't show that they drain the owner's energy too often, but you could see it when Jotaro tried to use time-stopping, he couldn't hold it for long. Araki admits that Stand is the "Life Force", and in Eastern cultures, "Life Force" means Ki/Chakra.

    • @YumesukeSutashika
      @YumesukeSutashika  2 месяца назад

      Its trivial, but I don't think so. I can't recall a hamon or stand user "run out of energy". Iirc, Hamon users create hamon through breathing, meaning that they theoretically have a limitless amount as long as they can breathe. As for Jotaro, he has to take short breaks in between each use, but that's not because of energy. That's just an individual weakness.

    I thought you didnt liked the concept of minor powers as they could be other characters' unique powers but are instead given to everyone. u said this in ur nen video

    • @YumesukeSutashika
      @YumesukeSutashika  3 месяца назад

      First, that's why its optional. And then, it depends on what they are. If the minor power is "walking on water," that was never a good option for a signature ability. However cloaking, enhancing, and more from Nen could be.
      Edit: JJK is also a great comparison. "physical enhancement" as a minor power works there because no character would ever have a signature move as basic as physical enhancement. But with Nen, physical enhancement is every enhancer's signature move, so giving it to everyone as well is now a problem for enhancers.

    Make your video more accessible to everyone because your videos make it feel like people who are new to anime have be aware of all of these anime when you can just avoid giving examples from different anime so you don’t alienate new anime fans who haven’t seen all of these anime

    • @YumesukeSutashika
      @YumesukeSutashika  2 месяца назад

      I don't think that my mentioning of anime that you may not recognize makes it less accessible because I usually explain in detail what I'm talking about from those stories. It doesn't matter if you've never seen world trigger because I explain how Scorpion works and give examples of its creativity. And if for some reason, that's still an issue, I usually provide multiple story examples, so there's a high chance that you recognize one of them.

    Neat video, but the super power wiki is kind of ass. A lot of it is just the same nonsense copy pasted over and over again, and using it actively hurts your writing. I've seen this before, i knew someone who was trying to make characters and what not and their constant use of the super power wiki crippled them. It was like watching someone bash their head against a brick wall. Totally their fault, I know, but I do not trust that wiki as a source of inspiration for anything.

    • @YumesukeSutashika
      @YumesukeSutashika  3 месяца назад

      I actually never use it as a source of inspiration. It's just a way of measuring how unique or common a power is, which isn't even that important in the long run.

  • @Black_Guy
    @Black_Guy 3 месяца назад

    Broken powers decrease the interest in a character and story for me because it breaks my suspension of disbelief and makes everything feel too top-heavy and lopsided. The susanoo and the utlization of edo tensei were bad ideas in Naruto. I don't like Gojo's power set. I think several characters in Bleach are ridiculous.
    Shigaraki's quirk is nonsensically strong.
    It all just creates a scenario that says, "I should obviously win, so let's see how the author screws me over for plot." When the fact that it's a story written by a person with an agenda becomes too obvious is when the story hurts most. Ask AoT fans lol.
