  • Here’s a gift from me to you, on my 55th birthday. Thanks to all my subscribers and supporters everywhere.
    Its a tune called ‘Deep Night’ recorded direct to iPhone that for me, epitomises those senior years.
    It was composed in 1929 by Charles E. Henderson. I am hugely inspired by Clarinettist Buddy DeFranco, who for those who don't know, recorded and traded solos with the incredible Art Tatum (Piano). Here I’m focusing on the Clarinet timbre, dynamics, vibrato & all manner of subtle inflections.

    What is the device he is using for the horn sounds?
    I thought a midi synth at first but there seems to be a mouth unit as well like a talk box.

      He's using a breath controller. It's shaping some of the characteristics of the guitar synth sound he's using.

    • @LawofThree
      @LawofThree  Месяц назад

      It’s a breath pressure sensor for total dynamic control. It functions as you would expect a mouth piece would with a reed on a brass or other wind instrument but doubles up as a bow for string instruments for what I call uninterrupted dynamic flow. More content on this soon.
