Bruce Lee is correct. Very important differences. You WILL fight heat issues supercharging an SS. My opinion is to go N/A if you are shooting for 600hp on an SS. N/A runs cooler and is easier on those non forged pistons and especially easier on the connecting rods.
@BRUCE LEE yup, gonna need fuel upgrades past that. Im at 580 to the wheels with my pro charger. If I wanna go any higher I’d need the lt4 fuel kit and that ain’t cheap. Not even counting the forged internals
@Boosted V8 Its not so much the blower that is the problem, its the fuel system. Stock blower can produce alot of power, but it gets hot as hell and you just straight up run out of fuel after a pulley and headers. If you want to put in a quality/reliable fuel system your looking at about 8-10k. Direct injection is EXPENSIVE to fuel.
@Boosted V8 Partly why I never opted to go that route on my SS. I put in a 416 stroker with forged internals and procharger. Fuel is the only thing holding me back now.
True but the blower is small and there are expensive fuel system limitations if you want to make big power reliably Still a decent platform if you like driving a camaro.
comes 650hp w blower already, full forged bottom end, magnetic ride suspension, nicer interior, etc etc etc and its book value is way up vs a customized SS will book out for half what you gotta try and resell it for. Bolt on only can add 125 so 775. I have one, love it
I cammed my SS I love the spec on it too much to ever sell it.. nightfall grey with adrenaline red interior and manual transmission with “fifty” on the steering wheel.. it rips
You have a good point to some of the items. However, the ZL1/LT4 platform is a full forged bottom end. This allows a lot more room without failure. So the price to pull the motor and rework all the internals to compare 🍎 to 🍎 is a big deal. The ZL1/1LE has more differences to be made to really be more different than the base model ZL1 to compare to the SS....a lot more. Keep up the good vids bro.
ZL1 is sooo much of a better platform than the SS. If you going auto the SS 10spd is NOT the as the 10spd in the ZL1. ZL1 has stronger engine internals and a stronger auto trans. Cant just slap a SC kit on an SS and call it a ZL1. Need fuel pumps, exhaust, etc... Limited to 600-650whp without building engine. ZL1 can make 900whp on the stovk block AND the trans can handle it.
While I agree with most of what you said, everything you just listed can be had in an SS for cheaper minus the 10L90. But a built a8 can often match performance and still be cheaper. With a little effort and less $$ an SS can easily match a ZL1 at any performance level. That doesn’t mean it takes anything away from what the Z is lol And I definitely never called an SS a ZL1 LOL
@Boosted V8 dont know where u get that ZL1 cant handle 750 at. 10 speed on ZL1 has no issues once retuned from factory. Yes you need cooling mods for OEM blower if you spinning the hell out of it. Again.....ZL1 better of a platform.
I have a 2017 2SS Fifty edition just like the one you had, and although trading it in for a ZL1 sounded tempting few months ago.. I love this car so much that I decided to keep it and get most of the ZL1 goodies instead. So I went with full ZL1 suspension and front brakes, LT4 complete fuel system, a new LT4 supercharger (custom powdercoated in Daytona orange to match the car) + the blower kit with upgraded cooling and full bolt-ons. And now this is the absolut perfect camaro for me 🙌🏼. Ps: I was so heart broken when your Fifty got ruined.. but I’m excited for this new build!!
See this is what I’m referring to. With a little effort, you can make your SS into a BEAST!! Sounds like you’ve done it bro, your build sounds mean! Congrats on the car, those fifty’s always will have a special place in my heart 💪💪
I’m with ya 100% bro, and it made sense to me too. Whippled my 18’ SS1LE. Touched up the tune and it dyno’d at 570 rwhp. All was cool for about 6,000 miles….one day pop. Front crank seal. Switched to a vented catch can. A month later cruising to get my Alky Control set up & tune. Pulled into gas station…smelled oil, and guess what? Front seal AGAIN! Now you are wondering, land ring, or piston issue? It’s all over the net. So yanked engine, did forged assembly, heads done, ARP head and main bolts, LT4 hi-side & injectors, completed rebuild & balanced. 500 miles later the new LS7 lifters had a failure. ( lots of notations on them too) Okay, so did Johnson lifters (should have done it the first time) 🥴 a BTR Stage 2 cam, pushrods, springs. ( done with the GM stuff) SPEC 2 clutch & flywheel…91 tune @ 634.9 rwhp. If I had bought a ZL1 from the get…I would have had a forged motor, and just had to pulley up and retune for a power level that would certainly break the LT1. Maybe I had some funky luck, but after the issues started making themselves known, others I found out got the same issues. So BE ADVISED GUYS. Stock ring gaps are real tight on LT1, paper thin front crank seal (use the LS3) and piston & ring issues are gonna show up more sooner than later. I love my ride now, and it is better than the stock ZL1, and definitely more durable, and prepped and clearanced for high boost should I choose. I’m at 9.5psi on 91 tune with decent power. I can nail it now without …uh oh, what now?? I would say go with a procharger, as the roots and twin screw PD blowers yield a high low end torque hit to the drive train, and it runs very close to what stock LT1 was designed to support….again, rods, pistons, detonation, clutch reliability issues are lurking. You may get away with it, but the LT4 is a much better platform for street roddin’. If you plunked down or are willing to put up over 7g for a blower set up…put some back up aside, cause you will need it! 🤓🤙🏽
I agree with this 100%! I got a 1LE planning on supercharging it to have a baby ZL1. As long as you don’t plan on going over 600 hp then it’s the best plan. For BIG power the ZL1 internals help
Just don't expect "stock zl1" money when you get rid off it. Honestly don't expect stock ss1le money. I see so many post of ppl trying to sell their modified car for more then a stock one. Not realizing that modding a car 99% of the time reduces the value. Unless it's like a known company like a Hennessey Camaro.
Haha! Yeah brother, those are all valid points. I owned a 17 2SS and traded up to 19 ZL1 and just going from stock to stock, there is no comparison, ZL1 is a beast! The SS however, you could throw that thing around, no big deal. The Z does not lend itself nicely to that. The A10, forged internals and eLSD is also a nice to have 😃 Be safe and God Bless!
You have a good point about people who just want to go faster, but after that the ZL1 really is a better car especially if you dont want to spend all the time and work doing upgrades to an SS.
Got rid of my 2019 SS and bought a 2021 ZL1. Better engine and suspension platform as well as interior, plus didn't sacrifice the warranty. Very happy with that decision. Had it for 7 months and ready for serious upgrades. Negotiated with insurance company to cover the $25k in upgrades. RPM is doing the work
I ordered a 2023 2SS , Right now I own a 2016 2SS now, fully loaded, and looked at a 2023 ZL1. And I didn’t like it one bit. I don’t need 600 hp and suede seats, and the steering wheel that will be worn out and Discolored. You motorheads need to understand if you alter that engine at all you kill the warranty on it. No thank you 455 hp is enough for me, just ask all the idiots that try to race me lol
Yooo, seriously considered buying a Zl1. This the realest video if seen in comparison of the 2 cars. Decided to stick with SS 1le, Good stuff bro keep at it 💯💯💯
So I built a 2016 SS with a D1 procharger. You’re safe until about 650 wheel. If you want more then that, I’d say ZL1 is the way to go. That being said I now have a 2019 ZL1 1LE. The ZL1 1LE is just in a league of its own compared to the rest of the camaro due to the suspension and aerodynamics extremes. Literally never breaks loose and holds every turn I’ve ever taken. Something I couldn’t do in my SS. Just my experience but overall if you want over 650, I’d go with ZL1.
I did everything but supercharge my 17 2SS M6 and had more into it then a new ZL1. I did all the labor. GM ZL1 wheels, brakes, fuel pump, side skirts front spoiler, E85, and American Racing Full exhaust w/ swain tech coated headers. The SS 1LE literally was announced the day after i bought my SS.
Unfortunately you cannot SC your SS cheaper than buying a ZL1. Not anymore at least. Todays ss SC Magnuson fully installed is $20k. If this is the route you want to go buy the zl1. I’ve done the research. Unless you install your self then you save about $5k.
I owned a 2019 Camaro SS for a year. Did a ton of research on it, debated on supercharging it, until I found out that a stock LT1 is only capable about 650 horsepower before things start to go sideways. Whereas in a ZL1 you can push it to 1000 plus On the stock motor. So yeah you can make an SS faster by throwing a supercharger on it, but all you have to do to a ZL1 is throw a pulley and an intake on it with a tune and you'll be faster than that SS that you just spent $7,000 to $10,000 supercharging.
@@LKfoodstuffsame here. Don’t turbo or anything. Just do a tune and other stuff and or save for the ss and shii like I am. But imma tune my v6 camaro and other shii and push to 400hp
I got a 2021 camaro ZL1 1LE and I am about to do a serious upgrade to mine. I not sure if I want to upgrade it to 850 or 1,000 horsepower. Also it's getting a serious Vinyl Wrap job done to it also plus a ceramic coating over the top of the vinyl wrap. I wanted the New corvette, but I wasn't gone to wait a year and a half to get one built. So I bought the ZL1.
Your point in this video is money. LT4 is so easy to mod and can take on more upgrades without having heat issues. If you want to save money and its not that much because getting a pro charger, new bumper, ACS composite kits to look like a ZL1, you are going to save maybe 10k. And 10k is nothing because you save yourself all the trouble of doing all the tuning, hiring someone to do it, etc. ZL1 all the way baby!
My 2018 SS 1LE is probably gonna be getting a tvs 2650, and other supporting mods, but not before it gets a drop in piston and rod package. Don't want to be limited to like 9psi.
I went the 2SS 1LE route with a Magnuson Heartbeat supercharger, loved it. 550 hp after the Maggy. But I disagree, the forged internals in the LT4 are a big deal, place a Magnuson 2650 upgrade on the ZL1 and your at 800hp, and their good to about 950 because of the forged internals. Youd have to invest significantly into the LT1's internals to approach 650 safely, just my opinion.
I think it depends, truth is I love my '17 SS and I don't need more car but I love the looks of the ZL1. I can do full bolt on with heads, cam, etc. for approx $15K. Problem is, once you mod a car, value drops and you won't get your money back. A ZL1 gives you more performance and you don't have to do anything to it, of course you can mod a zl1 but for those wanting more but also not wanting to modify the car, the zl1 makes more sense...assuming you really "need" more than an SS...which most don't.
He’s saying the truth, if you want a ZL1 but don't want to drop the extra $$, Get an SS 1LE, I have a 2SS 1LE an it’s practically a ZL1 (interior wise mainly), without the supercharger and the slightly wider fender flares. Like ZT ZOOMING said, their are a small couple additions you can achieve by modding your SS and you'll have ZL1 power. Not to mention, the 2020 SS and up face look great. You won't go wrong with either one.
yea supercharging a high compression car sounds like a great idea to me. Good long term strategy. So your max effort build will be a drivers race against a stock zl1. Just pulley and e85 the zl1 and you'll get smoke. Or keep the zl1 stock under full warranty versus your voided warranty max build. If you've been in the game long enough you know when you build it's not if it breaks it's when.
As an ower of a 2019 ZL1/1LE, it is not my daily driver. I would not recommend it as one either unless you love a very solid ride. Its my weekend, only if its a perfect day car, that sits in storage as a low mile investment car. My city just repaved all the roads, so its nice and smooth...just remember its a track car and most people that consider getting one need daily driving STREET cars. Good luck and many blessing...
When I bought my 2017 Camaro 2SS brand new in 17’ I paid $42,000, sticker price was $50,000. I had the option to get a ZL1 for $55,000 brand new. A supercharger with install is $10k. It makes absolutely no sense to do that haha. The stock LT1 is at its limits with that. You’ll need forged internals to support more power and at that price your over what a Zl1 costs. Not to mention you’ll have to upgrade the wheels to support the power. Just get a ZL1. This only makes sense if you get some cheap high mileage SS for $30,000 or something.
@Boosted V8 ummmm, I'm on 15lbs of boost on a stock ported lt4 blower on my zl1. Just had the heads removed and swapped for better heads. My pistons after 2yrs were perfect. So, not sure where your info is coming from, but I seen my own pistons when we removed the heads.
he has some points but if you get a used SS you’ll have way more wiggle room to upgrade the engine internals for that supercharger. and still come out cheaper than buying a brand new SS
Also the roots type manifold superchargers are notorious for heat soak. I'm gonna go with a procharger on my 1SS 1LE. I like the centrifugal type blowers better anyway.
Centrifuge blower seems like the new way of getting great results. Im also going Centrifuge route. First doing internals upgrade then adding the centrifuge supercharger.
@@cody7068 sounds awesome! Do you race at a track on track days? Just about all of the roots type blower cars get hot after a few laps. I'm talking a track day at a circuit like, Road America, Mid-Ohio, etc?
@@Tusuperbis Unfortunately I live in a state where I don’t have access to any tracks, just drag strips. But I mostly street race with it, and also occasionally taken to the Drag strip, I don’t race on highways or where anybody can get injured by the way, I live in a small town and we have some concrete roads that are vacant and are used for Digs and roll racing, very safe and no chance for anybody to get hurt. But I would absolutely love to get it on a real track and use it for what it was built for. Drag racing is fun, but racing on a real race truck with turns is real racing to me. I’ll get my chance someday!!
@@cody7068 i agree 100%! Closest track day for me is Mid Ohio. I was there years ago in some corvettes I had and it was a blast! 2 dragstrips within an hour of me and ive been multiple times over the years.
You can build your ZL1 without gutting your block if you want 😉 You are right though, I want that LT4 and that nasty front end! Keep up the good work Bruh!
I had a 19’ zl1 a10. On paper it’s quick but it felt disappointingly slow to me stock tbh I didn’t like the car enough to mod it and sold it after 3 months.
@@livinglife3230 I had a 2016 Camaro SS before as well. Even though the ZL1 is clearly faster than the SS, it doesn't "feel" much faster" imo (with the A10) sotp. Test drive to see for yourself...If you don't mind the claustrophobic Camaro interior, the ZL1 is a great platform for to build from. It puts the power down well, handles beautifully and doesn't take many mods to go fast. If you don't care about 1/4 mile times, I'd go manual for a much more involved and fun experience.
My SS is at 500 wheel hp without a cam or supercharger. Very easy to beat the ZL1 for much cheaper. I do wish I spent the money on the mag ride suspension. Heard good things about it, but I was struggling to find any left and stock on cars and prices were raising so bad.
Cheaper if you get a brand new Zl1 maybe. Bought my 19 Zl1 for 64k. I’m around 13k into it and making over 900Whp and and with a best of 8.92 in the 1/4. I too was contemplated on SS or Zl1. Than I realized that if I got a SS I would always be comparing my SS to the Zl1. Think I made the most reasonable decision I could’ve made. And I’m running WAY faster times for the money than if I bought a new 2SS 1LE (which is what I was looking at).
Illegal in sweden to put on a supercharger if not fitted original. Probably same in many countries and states. That is why you should get zl1 and fit another supercharger.
By the time you buy all the stuff for the SS to make it like the Zl1 you might as well buy the Zl1. especially when you factor in tuning of the blower , labor of the installation of the other part mentioned for appearance and if you ever wanted to resale in the future, the flag ship name would hold weight more then someone's project . Just my opinion though
Even the 2016 ZL1 Camaros are still being sold used for $65k+. You can get a brand new ‘22 SS for $50k, and the supercharger + labor/tuning for $10k. Still saving $5k and it’s faster
@@bondi2194I bought my 19 Zl1 for 64k. I’m around 13k into it and making north of 900whp with a best time of 8.9 in the 1/4. Glad I got the Zl1 instead of an SS, cause than I’d have an SS Instead of a Zl1…
On stock ss internals? boy stop the cap, it's more than adding a supercharger. Ask the many victims sitting on blown engines listening to opinions vs actual facts.
I’m speaking on facts and not opinion. I’ve boosted an LT1 and know several people with boosted LT1s since the cars released. Proper tune, fuel supply & keep it under 700hp. I know a few over the 700 hp mark on stock internals but that’s playing with fire. There’s a whole bunch of modded N/A LT1’s with blown motors too, but people don’t wanna have that convo 😮💨😮💨
This is bad advice: Stock Suspension on a ZL1 is not the same suspension as the SS 1LE or SS with MRC option. The stock SS without the 1LE package or MRC option is the same suspension that goes on the corvettes without MRC. If you want that MRC option on the ZL1 you need to get the ZLE aka ZL1 1LE. Note: I do not recall if the MRC option is available on the stock ZL1 and if it was it is a $7000 option. Also, because what they don't tell you about the SS + Supercharging is at about 600+ rwhp you will shatter your rear end on a dragstrip with a tire. The ZL1 rear end can handle up to 1000rwhp. What they also don't tell you is to upgrade your SS rear end will run you about $5000 to get a ZL1 Rear end. Add another $8000 for the super charger, and oh if you don't have the 1LE package, add another $2000+ for wheels and tires, and also add about another $1000-$2000 or more for labor and tuning. And if you want to unlock the transmission add about another $2000. Oh, and you'll need forged internals when you add that supercharger so depending on where you get a drop-in rod and piston kit add another $1800-$3000 not including labor. You also need an upgraded fuel system and potentially an aux low side/high side fuel pump Now that $50,000 SS just cost you the same as that ZL1 AND you void your warranty on top of it. Take this advice with a grain of salt. That being said, what you CAN do with an SS and super charger, only works if you only run street tires and an upgraded fuel system. Then you won't get enough traction to damage the rear end as a result because you won't be able to launch nearly as hard as you would at a dragstrip with a tire. Food for thought for people considering this route.
You also commented on this video 7 months ago talking about building your SS. Did you blow the rear end or motor in your SS? Maybe get on here and talk about your experience. Maybe say where you went wrong so people don’t make the same mistake. Now I haven’t watched this video in over a year but I know I don’t talk about slapping a sc on and hitting the strip for hard launches. That’s hard on a stock vehicle’s drive train. Much of the stuff you mention would be great for a 800+ hp build SS. It’s still cheaper to get a reliable 580hp in an SS 1LE and be faster than a ZL1. This is also recommended for someone who already owns an SS, not going out and buying a brand new one at 50k just to supercharge lol. You’ve got several fallacies in your argument but I’ll just address your first one. ZL1 comes standard with MRC. ZL1 & SS 1LE have same suspension/rear end. Vert ZL1 & SS w/MRC have same suspension/rear end(no e-LSD). ZL1/SS 1LE & Vert ZL1/SS w/MRC have different rear ends. I know some SS’s rear ends have a cooler & some don’t. You would need an SS with the cooler in the rear end to be the same as Vert ZL1. *I think* ZL1 1LE have same suspension/rear end as ZL1/SS 1LE but it has higher gears in the rear end. *If* you did blow your SS, im sure people as well as myself would love to hear your story and what went wrong. Good cautionary tale for anyone considering modifying their vehicle. Modifying is *always* a risk
I understand your comparison brother but for being a zl1 owner for almost 3 years now. I saw both what they can do with mods and style difference. a true SS will forever be a true SS and a true ZL1 will never have the same concepts that can be shared even though they are the same platform. plus transforming an SS to a zl1 is just... COME ON MAN BE PROUD OF YOUR SS
Same, 19 Zl1 with around 13k into it and making north of 900whp running high 8s in the 1/4. I don’t regret my decision at all. Rather have a Zl1 than an SS because I would have always compared my SS to the Z.
If ya can afford it get a zl1 & if you cant then get a 5.0 and boost it. Of you cant then settle with a 5k tops beater for the mean time and save for the dream whip whateva it is.
Sorry, Off Topic. I just found the 2 rubber pieces that go in the cup holders. Check under the rubber piece in the console. I know u ordered them, Just saying.
I am looking to do 21 ss 1le with mid mount turbo set up from vengeance racing. I am still debating on the zl1 vs ss as well. However I like the idea off the ss because it is a more adorable starting point. To do a stage 4 package with vengeance is around 30k. Now that’s a lot of money to throw into a new car but if you pick up an ss 1le for low 40s high 30s now we are talking around 70k for an ss to make around 850whp for the price of a new zl1. I just want to do something different that I can’t find other people doing so doing a ss 1le twin turbo with a built motor I think would be cool and different. You definitely can’t beat the look of a zl1 or starting point though there either
So your SS with a supercharger on the ragged edge is faster than a bone stock zl1. The difference is the ZL1 can double the horsepower comes with stock before it needs any internal work, and you've already found the limit of your supercharged SS.
I m thinking about getting a TVS2650R or upcoming version for my 2022 2ss 1le. I would like to upgrade to forged internals and the fuel system as well. 7 psi reliable boost close to 600 whp.
I got a 2021 1le for 50k ,just get a used zle for around the same price if you feel that way , either way you gonna void the warranty but at least the zl1 was made too be supercharged and will be more reliable.
It's all fun ! But it's like a 600cc bike vs 750 vs 1000 vs a hayabusa, ZX14R, or H2 the bigger platform is always better for more power, and less mods, but if you want to mod, why mod less when more is always better ?
What are you talking about? People love the Zl1 for its transmission just as much as the engine. That 10 speed auto is faster to shift than a Zo6 auto.
A video that tries to make SS owners better about their cars. You can makes the ZL1 faster too and with forged internals , you don't have to worry as much. Get the ZL1!
I appreciate this. I was considering trading in my Fifty for one but with the price of all used cars going way up, it doesn't seem worth it. Definitely gonna go with procharger. I will say though, it's easy to mod the LT4 into a beast.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing I have the SS 1LE, the only thing is with the ZL1 is I can pass smog where as modding my 1LE I would not, I don't think any way , not really sure.
your video states the 1LE does not have alcantara rears or door panels. Good video but please clarify. My 2019 ZL1/1LE has alcantara throughout. Any Camaro is a great car due to the high quality engine that at any level can be upgraded or just left alone...to each is...
Agree, I wasn't sure what I was buying last year and the dealership didn't know what it was selling LOL Lucky me! I got a 5th Gen SS 1LE with 36K for under 23K Lol I was thinking what you're suggesting already. Why spend 60K on a ZL1? To get to ridiculous ZL1 money I can build a monster adding just $15K to this 1LE Lol and I'm still under 40K. And back in 2014 they had 2SS with full leather interior and alcantara wheel and shifter anyway. Love mine too
the get a 1le and supercharge it isnt an option for the auto lovers, unless its like 2021 or newer, just get a 16 1ss and choose your own seats/ wheels. get a REAL suspension bmr, viking shocks, g force axels dss drive shaft +procharger . still cheaper than a zl1 and superior
Stick with SS if insurance is cheaper than the ZL1 that's what I think is the best option lol. SS are fast AF tho, specially the newer camaros from what I was told its scary fast. I personally don't like the newer camaros.....they look like HotWheels cars or lets say a muscle car trying to look like a tuner with the spoiler they been putting on them lately. That being said I love the 5th gen ZL1 or 15" model they look simple, aggressive & more like a muscle car from back in the day.
An SS 1le with the cost of a supercharger complete job/tune is getting very close to the price of a ZL1.... not to mention it doesn't get everything even though it is so much closer. But the big factor... resale value. A modded SS will never be worth a bone stock zL1 with an intact warranty. Also not considering the emissions aspect in states with these programs, modded SS fails and ZL1 100% legal, and it's not just California.
I think it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want the big hp numbers 700+ than you need the zl1. But a supercharged SS will be fast and fun for way less. So ZT are you selling you zl1 in the future and supercharging another SS?
Come he says ! 😃😂 this clown as commented on everything on this video , yet has no videos of his own backing what he drives . Or .... wants to drive . Wait maybe he’s to busy building a super fast Tesla killer SS
What’s your opinion? Is supercharging an SS the better option?? Comment below and hit that like button!!
Awesome! Confirmation! I got a '21 SS1LE with that exact purpose! I'm just waiting a bit to break her in until I SC her

Still a decent platform if you like driving a camaro.
If you have the money to get a ZL1 you have the money to upgrade the fuel system. You can add better cooler to that blower or upgrade that.
@Boosted V8 I have 15lbs on my stock ported. On pump I made 796hp to the tire. I have a small 219 230 cam.
Get the ZL1 y'all!!! there is no substitute!! I wanted it since it released in 2017 and I got an '18 !! you won't regret it!!
They have a 2013 zl1. And a 2015

That doesn’t mean it takes anything away from what the Z is lol
And I definitely never called an SS a ZL1 LOL
@@ZtZoomin true true.......love your content man.
@@ranmas2004 ty bro
@Boosted V8 dont know where u get that ZL1 cant handle 750 at. 10 speed on ZL1 has no issues once retuned from factory. Yes you need cooling mods for OEM blower if you spinning the hell out of it. Again.....ZL1 better of a platform.
@Boosted V8 your opinion is just that...your opinion. Agree to disagree.
I put a Whipple 2.9 on my 2017 SS earlier this year. Love it! Its like a new car.
How much was that bro & how many hp that you gained?
How much did you end up spending total? I have the same car as you. I was wondering what the total cost to do what you did.
See this is what I’m referring to. With a little effort, you can make your SS into a BEAST!! Sounds like you’ve done it bro, your build sounds mean! Congrats on the car, those fifty’s always will have a special place in my heart 💪💪
How much it run u bro? I have a 2016 2SS thinking about supercharging it..
did the labor myself, so for EVERYTHING mentioned you're looking at $7k without the tune.
@@calvinjr6020 $4k for supercharger+kit, around $3k for all other bolt-ons and suspension/cooling/brake upgrades
Who tuned it?

I agree with this 100%! I got a 1LE planning on supercharging it to have a baby ZL1. As long as you don’t plan on going over 600 hp then it’s the best plan. For BIG power the ZL1 internals help
The lt1 has the forged crank and rods like the lt4. The only thing that needs changed in the lt1 is the pistons.

@@dnegel9546 that sucks lol
Ss with 1le has elsd.
👍
You have a good point about people who just want to go faster, but after that the ZL1 really is a better car especially if you dont want to spend all the time and work doing upgrades to an SS.
Got rid of my 2019 SS and bought a 2021 ZL1. Better engine and suspension platform as well as interior, plus didn't sacrifice the warranty. Very happy with that decision. Had it for 7 months and ready for serious upgrades. Negotiated with insurance company to cover the $25k in upgrades. RPM is doing the work
How you get the insurance company to cover 25k in upgrades👀
@@ImTyler Allstate agreed to it. Just a question and request, they did the paperwork and I pay the premium

Isnt the lt1 and lt4 the similar engines in terms of design?
Mine is an 17'SS 6 speed. All I need. Daily driver since new. Bad ass car and I have owned 60s muscle.
It's more than just how fast a car is. The ZL1 looks, feels, and drivers like a really high quality car.
I ordered a 2023 2SS , Right now I own a 2016 2SS now, fully loaded, and looked at a 2023 ZL1. And I didn’t like it one bit. I don’t need 600 hp and suede seats, and the steering wheel that will be worn out and
Discolored.
I put the Eaton SC on my 18SS1LE and yah your speaking real to the masses brother/ it’s beast mode!
Nah, let’s all be honest all Camaros are just INSANE 🔥
I did everything but supercharge my 17 2SS M6 and had more into it then a new ZL1. I did all the labor. GM ZL1 wheels, brakes, fuel pump, side skirts front spoiler, E85, and American Racing Full exhaust w/ swain tech coated headers. The SS 1LE literally was announced the day after i bought my SS.
After MOASS ima just copp a ZL1 huge upgrade from the Mazda
I just got a Camaro 2015 V6 should I supercharged it ?

Also it's getting a serious Vinyl Wrap job done to it also plus a ceramic coating over the top of the vinyl wrap. I wanted the New corvette, but I wasn't gone to wait a year and a half to get one built. So I bought the ZL1.
I pretty much agree. The only thing against it is that probably the ZL1 will hold the value much better than a modded SS!
Exactly. And no warranty.
This also goes with other finances👌.
That man is speaking Truth to Power and you save a lot of money
When I bought my 2017 Camaro 2SS brand new in 17’ I paid $42,000, sticker price was $50,000. I had the option to get a ZL1 for $55,000 brand new. A supercharger with install is $10k. It makes absolutely no sense to do that haha. The stock LT1 is at its limits with that. You’ll need forged internals to support more power and at that price your over what a Zl1 costs. Not to mention you’ll have to upgrade the wheels to support the power. Just get a ZL1. This only makes sense if you get some cheap high mileage SS for $30,000 or something.
I like how you're wearing a champion shirt and not flaunting some gucci. Thx for the tip

Nice car man, I got 1 too
he has some points but if you get a used SS you’ll have way more wiggle room to upgrade the engine internals for that supercharger. and still come out cheaper than buying a brand new SS
If your SS is a manual, you’ll need to upgrade the clutch before adding a supercharger.
I feel you, but I NEEDS that 2022 ZL1.
No massive heat soak on my Zl1. Stock blower making around 900 wheel. But I’m running methanol and my cooling is super over kill with the Meth.

My SS is at 500 wheel hp without a cam or supercharger. Very easy to beat the ZL1 for much cheaper. I do wish I spent the money on the mag ride suspension. Heard good things about it, but I was struggling to find any left and stock on cars and prices were raising so bad.
A stock zl1 maybe
How u get it to 500 hp

You also need an upgraded fuel system and potentially an aux low side/high side fuel pump
Now that $50,000 SS just cost you the same as that ZL1 AND you void your warranty on top of it.
Most people calculate the price difference from a SS to a Zl1.
I think they forget that GM takes the SS engine as trade in.
Way too expensive.
I'm sticking with my SS!❤
I prefer n/a it just hits different
Yes the zl1 has better internals but why not just upgrade the ss internals which would be cheaper. Btw I’m talking used ss
I got mine over the ss, premium model ZL1 . Holds better resale value . Does look more aggressive . But I completely built mine anyways.
Same, 19 Zl1 with around 13k into it and making north of 900whp running high 8s in the 1/4. I don’t regret my decision at all. Rather have a Zl1 than an SS because I would have always compared my SS to the Z.
I was thinking of trading in my ss1le for zl1 but now supercharger sounds like the way to go.
If ya can afford it get a zl1 & if you cant then get a 5.0 and boost it. Of you cant then settle with a 5k tops beater for the mean time and save for the dream whip whateva it is.

Late to comment, but I like warranty’s on new cars. I wouldn’t buy a new SS and supercharge it. But that’s me. I love my ‘22 ZLE.

It’s the little details that matter. Go Zl1.
🔥🔥🔥 brother way to keep it a buck 🤙🏾
If i wanted the motor id get the hellcat . The zl1 is the whole package looks / handling
Then after you boost it and bang on it... pistons say bye bye
I'm sure that the insurance is cheaper too so that would be another reason
Yeah I was thinking the same thing I have the SS 1LE, the only thing is with the ZL1 is I can pass smog where as modding my 1LE I would not, I don't think any way , not really sure.
your video states the 1LE does not have alcantara rears or door panels. Good video but please clarify. My 2019 ZL1/1LE has alcantara throughout. Any Camaro is a great car due to the high quality engine that at any level can be upgraded or just left alone...to each is...
Pretty sure I was referring to SS 1LE. Good comment but listen a little closer.
Bebetter if they demised the obsolete 2 valvesper cylinder on their V8 engines with a 4valves per cylinder
Well first the ZL1 has stronger internals, driveshaft, halfshafts and can safely handle 1000HP also it’s 580whp with a 1.7 supercharger.
Camaro my dream that’s what I want my 1st car on the channel 😭😭
Stick with SS if insurance is cheaper than the ZL1 that's what I think is the best option lol. SS are fast AF tho, specially the newer camaros from what I was told its scary fast. I personally don't like the newer camaros.....they look like HotWheels cars or lets say a muscle car trying to look like a tuner with the spoiler they been putting on them lately. That being said I love the 5th gen ZL1 or 15" model they look simple, aggressive & more like a muscle car from back in the day.
What pro charger kit did you buy?
Supercharging an NA platform is dangerous
Ss 1le with a blower over zl1? Lmk
The reason I want to buy a ZL1 is because of their aggressive look only all on black colour, that's reason number 1.
You should have a million subs
why should the modded ss be faster than original zl1?
I think it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want the big hp numbers 700+ than you need the zl1. But a supercharged SS will be fast and fun for way less. So ZT are you selling you zl1 in the future and supercharging another SS?
Come he says ! 😃😂 this clown as commented on everything on this video , yet has no videos of his own backing what he drives . Or .... wants to drive . Wait maybe he’s to busy building a super fast Tesla killer SS
I still want a ZL1.
Yeah but are the regular SS’s internals, axles, drive shaft, etc ok to handle the supercharger?
Agreed. SS 1LE plus a supercharger, best bang for the buck.
It's all about the ZL1 badge
This is exactly what i wanna do.
