Brain tumour experience | Part 1| Diagnosis

  • Hey, everyone! This video is about my brain tumour diagnosis and my time in the hospital. I decided to split the video into two parts- so it doesn’t drag on too much!
    I hope it gives you all an insight to my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to my diagnosis. I have always struggled to talk about it (even though I have had some articles written about it) I do get extremely emotional, and it brings back memories I would prefer not to relive and feelings again. It was very hard for me to sit down and openly talk about it to a camera. So I hope you all appreciate it.

    Amy, your story is inspiring. You bounced back from something as scary as a brain tumour and continue to kick ass being an athlete and a model! I wish you all the best and hope to see you in Tokyo in 4 years!

    Amy, I have just had your video come up on my RUclips. You are an amazing lady and I hope one day that no one has a diagnosis of this dreadful cancer. I love the insight you provide. Thank you and I send you my love, Craig Laforest

    Such strength and such great difficulty to overcome, dear young lady.
    My cyst is supposedly in the center where my Dandy Walker Variant and csf leak is coming from my 4th ventricle on my brainstem. My jaw dropped when I heard you tell of the location of your tumor.
    I have had three referrals to see a neurosurgeon since a year ago and nobody has called. I think I am afraid to hear the phone ring now, but your story and your manner of telling it is uplifting, to say the least.
    Thank you for relating your ordeal, and may all your years to come be bright and cheerful as the lovely soul within you.

    Good luck for your future. Those symptoms sound really awful. I get migraines with vomiting and can't imagine how distressing it was to have such terrible things happening constantly. I also had cancer at 22 and can appreciate how it can interfere with your life. I'm so glad that you recovered and are going forward with your life. Experiences like that can have a profound effect and it does involve grieving and it does also involve being grateful for things like sunrises and sunsets. Good luck

    We have so many of the same symptoms. I have a tumor that is almost 2 inches long near my thalamus. I haven't known about that long. Maybe two months. The doctors tell me they can do a biopsy possibly but wouldnt be able to remove much. How scary to loose the ability to do what you love. This is the first time I have seen your videos but I plan on viewing more. I hope you are doing okay. I am going to look for a newer update but I want to see part 1 and 2 first. Thank you for sharing something so personal.

    Amy, as a retired nurse who know has Multiple Sclerosis and a few other issues that happen with MS, I had many of the same exact feelings you had when I received my diagnosis. Will tell my story later but please know, we are right here with you in your heart. ❤️ you are never alone. Be your own advocate or always have someone you trust be your backup advocate. Lots of hugs your way.

    Wow, I experienced the dizzy stuff a Lot and couldnt walk straight sometimes. I had seizures from the tumor. I had brain surgery twice. Once at 16yrs old and second at 20 years. I was born with it and had no idea until way later! My symptoms started around 4 or 5 years old but my mom didn't know yet. I'm so glad I am tumor and seizure free now 15 years. I wish you the best in your future.

    I have a similar story. I am a professional athlete and academic with those symptoms lifelong with prolonged periods of severity. I had pretty much lost the ability to do the things I've learned to when I found out a few years ago. I now know I have insulin dependent diabetes (t1) and brain cancer, but have only been diagnosed with depression and psychosis(medications for these hurt my liver.)

Mom has one discovered in march 2010 got suirgery to partially removed it at 15 april 2010, then has gamma knife treatment to burn remained tumor and now after 7 years she started with headaches and dizzying again. And Im afraid the tumor has grwoth again. Im so upset about that. This diseases shouldnt exist. I hope new treatment such as gamma knife, radiotherapy and chemo could help. There are awesome surgeons in UK. Infact in Mexico where Im living there are amazing treatments for brain tumors. Hugs and prayers. Stay strong.

    For two weeks and three days (I've been counting), I've been having these really bad migraines/headaches. They're unbearable. I feel like my brain in swollen and trying to pop out of my skull. They don't come and go, they're constant and wont stop. I sleep, eat, talk, and wake up with it. They came out of nowhere. I've been feeling nauseous, my body wants to throw up every meal I have, I have no balance and feel myself losing my coordination as I walk. I've been having to hold on to something or I feel like I'll fall. Also, lately I just haven't been thinking right. I forget what I'm doing, and find myself walking into random rooms in my house without knowing it. I wanted to see what these symptoms could mean. This video prepared me for what they might say. I just hope I'm exaggerating, and just have the flu or something. I'm 19 right now too. I'm going to see my doctor, and hoping for the best.

    @stillsurviving5864 7 лет назад

    That is awful... I'm really nervous right now because I've been having these weird symptoms: word searching-vision episodes where things will either go completely blurry or totally black on and off -worst migraine ever in right side of head (been going on for 26 days but got worse last night pain 9.5/10) pain is worse in morning, when lying down, and when move my head-exhaustion! -clumsiness (more than normal) -on/off clinginess (going from normal to childish) -mood swings -overall feeling different/weird -forgetting everything -nausea -upper back pain on right side where shoulder bone is (not sure if related) -bruising easily(not sure if related) -left side going numb on and off -waking up due to pain and nausea -meds not helping head -hair coming out -bleeding taking longer to stop -low grade fevers -pimple started 3 days before headache and still here (not sure if related) -not hungry -weakness all over -occasional slurred speech -confusion -dizziness.
    My parents don't want to take me to the doctor but they called a week in and my doctor didn't want to do any tests. I feel like something is really wrong. This is probably not the best place to seek advice but what should I do?

    • @Ava_Orchid
      @Ava_Orchid 7 лет назад

      I am not a medical expert but by any chance are you in school? If you feel that your parents are ignoring the issue or that they are brushing you off when you feel there is something very wrong perhaps you could talk to a school counselor or nurse if they still have such things. Some of those things could be hormonal depending on your age but you never know until a professional actually hears everything. If you do have someone at school you can talk to they may be able to talk to your parents and make it seem more important or serious. Also if you go to church or any sort of other group type activity where someone is in charge other than a parent you may be able to seek help there. Of course unless you are getting a very bad reaction by your family you may want to try to sit down and chat with them. Pick a time when everyone is home or not rushing off to work or another place or a time where you have their undivided attenton. Write down all the issues in detail so that you can relay it to them in a calm and serious way. Good luck If worse comes to worse and there is no adult you know to help (I am assuming you are a minor because of your mention of parents as usually adults just go in to the doc...no offense if you are an adult) look for services in your area geared towards kids. Not emergency numbers like the police unless you feel you are in danger right that moment but a hotline or a clinic for teens. Most teen clinics center around pregnancy and sex education but they may know someone who can help you too

      These are not the only symptoms of a brain tumour. So many people with brain tumours have NO symptoms at all. If you have ANY symptoms that are worrying please please see a doctor. It all depends on the size, type and location of the tumour.

    Would you be able to give any advice .. they are making me do an mri to make sure I don’t have any tumors but I’m super scared because I wake up every morning screaming because as soon as I open my eyes my head literally feels like it’s being split in half, they thought it was migraines at first but then I collapsed a couple of times.. I haven’t been able to go to school.. and they don’t know if it would be a tumor or not that’s why they are doing the mri.. but I’m scared because it goes 2 ways.. if it’s a brain tumor idk what to even think but if it’s nothing then why do I wake up screaming in pain and nothing wrong.. I just don’t want to be in pain and I’m scared to find out that something is wrong or nothing is wrong

    I have very similar symptoms to you except I don’t really get headaches that much since I was 18 I was at a party one night then got a sickening head ache went home tried to sleep it off but it was still there the next day, lasted about 4 days then ever since after I’ve had this constant pressure just above the nose between the eyes it feels like a strain sensation/muscle contraction. Now I’m 24 I’ve started to notice my balance is weirdly off like I would randomly stumble to the side and my field of view as weird as it sounds is slightly to the right not like I’m constantly forcing my vision straight it’s abit bizarre. Im also now experiencing weird slurs that’s I wouldn’t normal have problems with and find myself happening to read something over and over to understand which I never had a problem with and I’m always always lightheaded like I’ve been floating around the past 6 years. I’ve never been to the doctors about it because I have a bad phobia of hospitals and do suffer with anxiety and have been blaming my symptoms on anxiety but things are progressively getting worse, I think it’s time for me to suck it up and go but I am so scared

    shes so into her looks and posing to catch a look at herself in either a mirroe behind the camera, or the viewfinder that i cant watch it. i cant stand people who love their own face so much they cant not look at a reflection and they cant focus because of it, she flicking her hair and posing... for herself every 20 seconds... sorry amy. you need to take a REAL look at yourself. not your face.
