I actually had the technician braid my hair. She said that was best. So she did it. I wore mine for 3 days. I thought most ambulatory EEGs were 3 days. Hope you’re doing okay Zara
I wish that I saw this video before I had my 24 hour EEG. I also suffer from non-epileptic seizures (and of various types). I also have a tic disorder, but haven’t gotten the official Tourette’s or not diagnosis yet (I’ve had them since elementary school and now I’ve completed high school). Thank you for sharing your experience to help others! I’m sure that it’s appreciated by many people, both now and future generations! -Gracie 😘
This video has answered my question, too. I have epilepsy so anything "incorrect" that happens in my brain is registered on EEG, but I've been always wondering if non-epileptic seizures are also visible on them. Now I know. Thank you for speaking about it ❤
I’m about to have my second ambulatory EEG and I am baffled by the fact that even with all those wires on your head you look absolutely adorable! When I have it on I look like I just came out of a rough car accident… it ain’t pretty😂
Hi Zara! I’ve been diagnosed with Epilepsy since I was nine years old (I’m 16 now) and my neurologist did an EEG a couple years back and didn’t find anything, but my mom says she saw me have a seizure. Is it possible for it not to pick up smaller (absence, focal) seizures? It just worried me a bit
I have epilepsy and my neurologist wants to do a bunch of test, including this one. How tf are you supposed to sleep with one of those attached to you? Btw I a think I move around alot during sleep and I'm terrified that one of the wires pop off!
HELLLOOOOO I literally love your channel so much. you sniffing tics are so cute! how are you doing with your tics doing atm? also, tha k you so much for sharing this! it's very helpful 💕
I had to have one of these like ten years ago...it destroyed my hair. However I'm black so completely different hair texture... whatever glue stuff they use does so not come out with "just shampoo" I'm also in the US so idk if ours are different from you over there lol Edit: I wrote my comment at the beginning. I have non epileptic seizures due to a different chronic illness than her and mine do show up on this test. However like she said It just depends.
i was diagnosed with epilepsy at a few months of age, and I've had multiple EEGs done in my life, along with a WADA test when i was under 10 (I don't exactly remember when). I had surgery when I was 11 and my last EEG was 2 years ago and I had to keep the wires on for a WEEK, it was a pain and its more annoying when they cant find anything there because the symptoms aren't occurring whilst you're being monitored. Shame rlly, they were starting to reduce my medication after surgery and now its increasing back up and idk what's causing them to still be happening.
I’ve been getting EEGs for 16 years. I have tonic clinic seizures and take meds. They obviously attach the wires to my head BUT contrary to yours, they keep me in the hospital and have me sleep for about an hour while they blink flashing lights in my face.
Same here! Ive gotten a few EEGs from these weird seizure-kinda fainting things, the sleeping EEGs sucks sm, i keep waking up with a sore jaw and my head is wet for like the next hour..://
Idk if this is tic but every time I get the chills like when I'm cold I add extra movement not meaning to so I would get chills and then I would get like another chill movement but I didn't actually get chills can someone tell me if this is somehow like tics and I have a symptom of tics so idk if it is I am very aware that I have a symptom of tics so I am also very worried but please tell me
They can't, they just observe brain waves. 😂 In standard EEG you have to open and close your eyes on command because both activities generate two different types of brain waves, but I'm pretty sure they don't know what you're thinking about.
I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but you (Zara) and Evie (from the hippy trippy) are not the only ones I know with Torettes AND Epilepsy - is there some kind of connection?
neither of us have epilepsy, we both happen to have FND - functional neurological disorder it causes seizures (non epileptic) and lots of other symptoms such as fainting, paralysis, memory and speech loss, tremors, functional weakness and so much more ❤️ doctors don’t see a correlation no but i know a few people who have both x
Just had a question about the EEG: Would it pick up on an anxiety/panic attack or not because I experience those and I just wanted to ask in case my parents think its best for me to get one (according to my research from this video). I will also have to look further into it but thank you for the informative video! 🥰
I have never heard it used for anxiety or panic attacks. It’s usually just measuring the misfiring of brain signals. For example, when I have tics there is the occipital lobe of my brain that signals the device because that’s where I have the brain damage. I also get seizures, and that usually sends a lot of different abnormal signals in your brain that it can pick up on. anxiety attacks are more along the lines of a mental illness than than brain damage. It can still affect your body and heart rate and stuff like that though. I have BPD and get a lot of anxiety attacks as well. I would recommend you see a psychologist who can prescribe you different medication’s to help prevent those. Finding the right meds is tough but when you do, it’s totally worth it! Also, just because I’ve never heard it used for anxiety attacks doesn’t mean That there are new protocols that allow it to. Wishing you the best!
they last anywhere between 10 seconds (ish) and 10 minutes (I often have clusters of long absence/partial seizures that can result in being unconscious/unresponsive for 20 minutes at a time - varies tons!
I had to get an EEG done back in June 2020 and that was for my epelipsy and I had to go up to Dunedin (New Zealand) hospital to put them on and I had to stay in hospital do they can put it on and I had to write in the leaflet the time I had an seizure and the time it ended and I hated the EEG because I was tired and I couldn’t lay down to sleep and since I had the EEG done and since I had the hour long seizure every time I have an seizure it tires me out so bad to the point I will sleep in class (and the glue was the most annoying part of having the EEG done bc it took me 6 days to get the stupid glue outta my hair) and the glue felt like hard chew gum that’s been put for days. The worst experience of my life and I have to get an EEG again sometime in May 2022. And I’m not nervous but I hate the glue lol.
Zara I was just wondering if I could privately talk to you because I'm not sure if I have touretts but I'm pretty sure I do so please respond to me and we can talk about it further more food content stay cool love ya
i’m not a neurologist so i can’t diagnose anything or give medical advice, i can only share my personal knowledge and experience of having it myself 💜 i have videos of symptoms and diagnosis etc on my channel so i recommend watching that!

I think I had something similar to that they had to monitor my brain activity because I had seizures in my sleep or something like that
Really love to watch your videos stay blessed 💕😍
i’ve had so many eegs due to epilepsy but never an ambulatory one they seem so much better since you get to go home
Same with me, I only had EEG done in the hospital. Also, never 24 hours ones.

I have epilepsy and I do an eeg every year in the hospital and I recommend coconut oil. It is a life changer.
I'm gonna use your tip as I'm going to have a checkup EEG next month (I have the same condition as you). Thank you 🌸
I have epilepsy and got a whole bunch of EEG luckily I haven't had seizures for a while now

How long do your absence seizures tend to last? (If you don't mind me asking) Mine only last 15-20 seconds but yours seemed to last a while.

Wow, that's insane!
@@bussylvr5000 functional seizures tend to last much much longer than epileptic ones. An epileptic absence seizure lasts about 15 seconds max.
I have know what a eeg is. I had eeg's done alot of time when I was going down to the old children's hospital in Pittsburgh pa
I have an epilepsy history as well as FND.

you can’t shower when you have them on, they’re electrical
