Thank you Janhendrik! Well done! I've been painting beach miniatures for a few years now!
Thanks, Pam. Nice coincidence!
Yes, very instructive! And thank you for including our paint brands. So helpful!
Thanks, Holly. Good to hear you appreciate including the paint brands!
Yes. It’s is very informative. A small painting is nice to try.
Thank you
Thanks Michelle! The advantage of small paintings is that your painting decisions can be quickly executed and you can learn a lot in a relatively short time.
Again, nice cat documentary !😊 (Bonus : an annoying tiny seascape painting)
Great job, thanks for the vidéo, from France ! Keep going for us please !🎉
LOL, thanks!
Yes,very good. And the painting is excellent.
Thanks, Mike. For some people speeding up the video is pretty annoying. Glad you like it!
Terrific! Worth watching several times. Great to remind us there are always horizontal light lines in water. 👏👏👏🙏
Thanks, Pandora! Recently I've been doing the light Iines in the water with my rag. Works great.
It helped me to realize my need to work on the sky and the water as a "team." That way I will have the same tones of the blues and greys ready to use for a more balanced look in my work. Thank you.
That's a great way to put it: sky and water are a team. This realization will get you a long way!
Every lesson is truly appreciated.
Thank you!
Very informative and the color ribbon at the bottom of the video is a great assist. Thank you for showing the process.
Thanks, Jacquelyn. Good to hear the color ribbon is helpful!
Merry Christmas to you 😃 all your videos are instructive and a pleasure to watch. It's great your cats feature so much.
I'm always amazed that your will go in different directions and the finished painting is quite different from the idea you expect from part way through the painting. Best wishes from NZ
Merry Christmas to you as well, Bruce. happy to surprise you! I'll pass the compliments to the cats.
More than instructive- inspiring!!! As always! Thank you for sharing
Thank you, Michael, my pleasure!
Wonderful❤
Thanks!
I am inspired!
That's great, Michael, thanks!
Fantastic instructional approach for an intermediate/advanced artist like myself. I can see your method/process/decision making. In my humble opinion, I'd recommend doing more of this style. Well done!
Thanks, Jeff. That's what I was going for. Good to hear you appreciate it!
I make a lot of small panels, square, round and oval and make or try and make a 1st attempt for a larger painting so this video is perfect for me. If they are good enough they make nice cheap gifts. Thank you.
My pleasure. Hope it does help!
Very instructive & fun to watch you build the painting! I’m just about to start some beach miniatures, and found this inspiring
Thank you, from Vancouver Island, Canada
That's great, Debra, thanks!
Yes love this format.
Good to hear, thanks!
Absolutely it was instructive and you gave great materials information as well! Thank you. It’s beautiful AND tiny! ☺️
Very tiny...
Thanks, the quick videos are helpful and enjoyable to view😊... however, the videos in real time are more beneficial for educational purposes! ...also, just a,side note.... your voice is very soothing to listen to! Thanks for all your time and effort!!!
Thanks, Susan. Both approaches have their merits. It's easier to show in real time what really happens, but harder to demonstrate the entire process. Maybe I'll combine them more often in the future.
I love this thank you. I was thinking of trying a small picture and there was your notification! Beautiful!
Thank you. What a nice coincidence!
Thanks for a very informative, concise lesson. I assume that similar results could be obtained with acrylics throughout, too. Your seacoast videos are very therapeutic for a landlocked Midwesterner.
My pleasure, Les. Good too hear the video has been helpful!
Yes! And Wow!
Thanks, Mike!
I love all of your videos I've watched. Your very calm presentation is pleasant indeed. You asked if this video was instructive despite the increased speed, and it certainly was. The only detail I would have loved to see slowed down (or perhaps zoomed in) was the painting of the waves and how you did those. But I'll look through your other videos and may see some tips there. Many thanks for sharing your process, and best wishes for a happy and healthy new year.
Thank you! I did a full length tutorial on painting waves. The trailer is on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/WjJmIixBH1g/видео.html.
Hello. Yes, I found this interesting. I had already purchased some tiny panels for painting and wondered where to start. I like this. Thank you.
That's good to hear, thanks!
I found it quite instructive. Thanks for posting
I hoped it would be, but you're never sure, so thanks Nils!
Very instructive, thank you. The high speed is fine.
Thanks, Jasper. I may use it again!
Thankyou, this is just stunning!
That's great, thanks!
Very instructive, enjoyed your video very much.
That's great to hear, thanks.
Thank you. A really interesting demonstration. Size doesn’t really matter in this case as we can still observe the techniques you used to create this lovely little painting
Thank you, Leonie. I don't use the wet-on-wet technique a lot, but in a small painting like this, it's very useful.
yes instructive! thank you
Thank you, Jacquelyn!
I love it! Will be attempting after several viewings
Thanks! Best of luck with your attempts. Remember these Becket lines: "Ever tried, ever failed? Try again, fail better".
Brilliant and interesting
Thanks
That's very kind, Robin, thank you!
Yes it is Jan Hendrik!👍
Thanks, Fred!
Beautiful work
Thank you, Parker!
very instructive, and beautiful work many thanks and happy new year ..
Thank you and the same to you and yours!
I love it. It´s so fun to paint miniature paintings. The smallest i have made with succes is on matchboxes. Very hard to get all the small details, but i manished. That was back in 2012. Today the smallest i have made is 10x10cm.
Thanks, Tore! Painting on matchbox size, that's really small. You must've used a magnifying glass...
@@PaintingSkies1 * It`s funny because most have said the same, but no. I just had very good eyes at the time. Now i reached the age, where i use reading glasses, when i paint very small, like 10x10cm.
Thanks for your postings Janhendrik - very inspiring
My pleasure, Martyn, glad you enjoy my videos!
Als instructie zijn dit soort korte filmpjes juist zeer geschikt, mijns inziens...genoeg technieken die nodig zijn om het ook eens te proberen.. thumbs up 👍
Dat is fijn om te horen, Wouter. Succes!
Gewoon geweldig Janhendrik
Dank je, Dick!
Learning this media i enjoy your look at this very much includes the cat
That's good to hear, Jim. Including the cat!
these are fantastic. Been struggling with clouds and skies and with each of your videos, no matter the duration, im learning something. Thanks very much!!
That's great, thanks!
Very instructive, simple and beautiful. Thnx a lot!
My pleasure, Tatiana, thanks!@@tatianacyp7511
I love the high speed!
That's good to hear, thanks!
I love the way you painted it.
Thank you, Patricia!
Totally great! I'm giving it a try. Keep making videos!!
Thank you. Succes with your miniature!
I just found you. Love all your paintings and the way you teach.
Thank you, Cynthia! If you’e interested in free acces to all my full length tutorials, you could consider supporting me on Patreon as a video patron (www.patreon.com/paintingskies).
It IS instructive - great work!
That's great to hear, Niels, thanks!
I love this painting and how you demonstrate your technique. I’m more amazed you can keep cat hair out of your paintings as I can’t seem to do this and invariably I find kitty hairs in my oils. Love the cat! Oh, and the painting!
Thanks! The fact that I don't have cat hair on my work is not really my merit. The long hair doesn't shed a lot of hair and the short hair is outside a lot.
I love it and I'm going to give it a try!
Thanks!
Love it
Thanks, Bruce!
Very nice, and helpful
That’s great, Patricia, thanks!
❤
Thanks!
👍👍👍
Thx, Jon!
Do you have any notes or video on preparing the panel? Do you start with bare masonite/mdf panel?
I work on 6 mm MDF board. Wrote a short article about it on my blog:
paintingcloudskies.blogspot.com/2015/01/canvas-or-board.html
Hope this helps!
How long do you wait to varnish your paintings? And I’m not sure if you already went over this in another video, like varnishing techniques?❤
Depends on which kind of varnish, retouching varnish or finish varnish. Did a short article about it on my blog: paintingcloudskies.blogspot.com/2015/05/varnishing-day.html.
@@PaintingSkies1 thank you!
Edit: I paint with acrylics and have heard from different places different things about that. Was curious if you work with acrylics if you varnish those paintings? 🙏🏼 thank you!
@@solh8844I rarely use acrylics and if I do only in underpinnings for oil. I know there are varnishes for acrylics, but I don't know enough about them to give you a solid answer...
@@PaintingSkies1 Thank you so much for your response anyway, I really appreciate it, thank you!
👍💎
Thank you!
Yes, most certainly. And, btw, you should figure out how to make a brush with your cat’s hair 😀
Thanks, John, for the compliment and for the tip. Genuine cats hair brushes...
😀
❤
Thanks!
